RE: Game Suggestions & General Discussion

Im asking half the questions in this forum... :p
So, what, in your opinion, makes both Town and Scum roles (too) OP? Also, what balances OP abilities or roles? This is just so when I host I can make sure roles aren't too OP.

Tbh, in your first proper forum game you should have an experienced co-host to help plan the game with you and to make sure you don't make any mistakes with the updates. You can't really say that one particular role is OP (I mean, besides common sense "you may use this ability to kill all scum" or something like that lol.) because it depends on the overall strength of the town.

Thanks, but I will probably go solo. I'm getting practice by hosting among my friends... and I will probably be doing a game like Kingdoms which will also require a bit of work/organisation/etc.

Good luck. I also thought I'd do good solo, but if not for Drohn, my game would be a mess. Co-hosts help more than you think, even if the role they play is small.

RE: Game Suggestions & General Discussion

After my game is finished, if I have time, I will write a guide on how to balance Werewolf games.

RE: Game Suggestions & General Discussion

I made my first game entirely solo, and it only had one minor design flaw. Unfortunately that flaw caused the scum team to forfeit on like Day 5 or so, but most of the game was amazing.

But, yeah, there's not really a lot of black and white when it comes to overpowered roles. It all depends on the rest of the roles in the game and the balance of the other roles. Overpoweredness, or lack thereof, can only really be judged in the game as a whole, not by looking at a single role in a vacuum.

Is anyone wanting a RP? It hasn't been done in a while.

I've RP'ed a few times before, and I've always been kind of surprised that none really happen here. I'd be behind the idea, as long as it's well organized. The host would need to have a clearly defined plot ahead of time, and it couldn't be just single-sentence posts or else the action won't go anywhere.

RE: Game Suggestions & General Discussion

We have been discussing roleplaying again recently for the Forum Games and Writer's Café forums. Something we considered was having the more "relaxed" roleplaying games in the Forum Games area, where posts don't need to be that elaborate. The more elaborate roleplaying games where there are word count and perhaps other requirements would go to the Writer's Café.

Roleplaying games are definitely allowed and members can already start them in either part of the forum, but once the guidelines are set (or sooner if needed) they could be moved to another section.

I like the idea of having writing games for the Writer's Cafe.

RE: Game Suggestions & General Discussion

We have recently noticed that a small number of members have been deleting posts within Werewolf games. This kind of action is considered to be much worse than just editing a post, as when a post is edited people are able to see that it has been edited, yet when a post is deleted only moderators are able to see that this has happened. We have notified the hosts of the ongoing Werewolf games where this has happened and they are able to take any action they see fit. For now, we will not be taking action against such offences in previous games. We will also not be naming the names of people who have deleted posts in previous games.

Because of this we are considering whether to disable the deletion of posts in Forum Games, but we would like to hear member's opinions before we make a decision. Alternatively we could continue to notify hosts when posts are deleted.

RE: Game Suggestions & General Discussion

Disabling being able to delete posts here is probably a good idea. If there's ever a legitimate case where a member wants a post deleted, they can always ask a member of staff to do so.

RE: Game Suggestions & General Discussion

From the amount of likes (and since no one objected) I assume you are okay with not being able to delete posts. This should definitely fix certain issues in some games. I just made the changes so posts cannot be deleted.

If for any reason you think a post should be deleted, you can always ask a Forum Games moderator!

Thank you for helping me test the setting, Teal. <3

Hi! In typical WW games, does the host generally notify a player when their action fails (or succeeds)? I'm currently hosting a small game that the Blocker blocked the Doctor; should I send the Doctor 'Fail'?

Always tell them if it fails, but it's up to you to disclose the reason. For doctors you do not need to (and I would not) say if they actually protected someone. If the scum's night kill target survives the night, the doctor will already know why so you do not need to tell him.

Generally if a role requires a reaction from the host, then tell them. All night actions are assumed to have succeeded if a player is not specifically told it failed.

RE: Game Suggestions & General Discussion

I submitted an RP game and PMed Drohn about this but I've gotten no response for the submission or the PM. Did you guys get my submission?
