I would hate everyone because they hurt me while I think I'm awesome, or because they heal you while I think you're a total jerk.

Edit: It's obviously an example, I hope no one's got the wrong impression.

RE: Game Suggestions & General Discussion

It would literally be a popularity contest, and those are... uhh... not the best. Especially in anonymity like this.

Ouch...

But on topic, I believe games like this can be played. That's why we have Moderators: If a post goes very flamey towards a Member or it goes off-topic it's easy to handle the situation and putting it back on track. Also, a YPPY rule can work to further avoid mess and spamming battles between 2 Members.

RE: Game Suggestions & General Discussion

Wait, you seriously think that game can be played?

RE: Game Suggestions & General Discussion

I can't say that I exactly support that idea. I actually attempted to host a game exactly like that a couple years ago on a different forum, but the thread was locked before it had a chance to get going. I'm thankful that it never did because it's essentially asking for trouble. Even with the strictest moderation possible, some feelings are going to be hurt.

On a seperate, happier note, I'm continuing to work on my haunted mansion game concept. Although it's less like a haunted mansion and more like a mystery mansion at this point. Regardless, it's going to be pretty cool (at least I hope) once I've fleshed all the details out.

Not me. Once was more than enough. I still have nightmares.

You would think.

Last time it was YPPPPPPY or something and it didn't stop the horror. It wasn't about the amount of posts.

Edit: In all seriousness, if somewhere in the future majority thinks they are ready for H/H and want to play it I would be fine with it. Only if there are enough that want to do it, however, and that doesn't seem to be the case now.

Have we ever done a fast game of werewolf here? And by that I don't mean like MTCs One Night Werewolf. But rather 24 hour days, 24 hour nights or similar? A werewolf game that would be played over the course of a week or two, plus or minus a couple of days.

We've tried Skype Werewolf before, which takes anywhere from 20 minutes to a couple hours, depending on how many players we get, but as far as I know, we've never done a version with 24 hour day and night phases. Not sure if people on this site are active enough to make something like that work. If you were to try it, it would probably be most effective with simple roles, like Seer, Doctor, and lots of Vanilla townies, so less discussion and explanation is required each day.

RE: Game Suggestions & General Discussion

24 hour days (and no separate night phases) is actually the typical time frame where I usually play games (though we do tend to have 48 hour days over weekends). The biggest problem with that kind of a setup is time zones and everyone being able to contribute evenly; you can see how it might be problematic for someone to participate well if, for example, they're asleep while most of the discussion is taking place.

Another WW game question:
Do people expect there always to be some player that can kill at night? And do people expect there to always be scum faction? I was thinking that no one will be killed at night, and there would be no scum or town faction, but instead many (5+) indies. This would be a side (20 player) game.

There was a game with no scum, and just several Dangerous Indies called Arceus Team Mafia, hosted by PMJ. I like the idea of having several different Indies as the scum, but (not trying to sound rude) PMJ tried a lot of different experimental things along with that, and some things ended up conflicting poorly and the town had an overwhelming victory because of it. (Check that game's post game for more details on it.) The concept could definitely work with the right set up.

As for having no night kill, you would have to have some way for players to die. Otherwise, confirmed town would quickly sweep through the game, eliminating anyone who isn't confirmed. I suppose you could try to balance the game around it, but the set up would have to be executed very well.

If I made a game where there is no town or scum, but people have different WinCons (kill so, so and so) and there own mason groups, would that work?

RE: Game Suggestions & General Discussion

I played a game like that on another forum and it was pretty fun; the flavour was that there were 5 factions of assassins and most of the powers involved blocking and redirecting kills, and each group got a kill. It's very RNG swingy, but fun.

That's sort of the premise of Haunted Water's game, I believe. However, there are many directions you can take a game like that, so I don't see any reason that wouldn't work.

Another idea (boy, I have a lot of those)!!:D
I was thinking about a TCG based game. Each signed up player will get 30poke. These players can use their poke to buy TCG cards and packs. Players may also trade packs/and cards. Events/and shop will be changed daily. The aim is to get the highest score - your poke+card values+boosters etc - before the end of the month, by a secret formula based on rarity and usability.

I was thinking of starting off with FuF or PF, and eventually going into fakes (e.g. CMP's sets)! Any thoughts/ideas?

Would the game involve playing the card game at all? Or just trading/buying boosters? If it's just trading/buying, it doesn't sound all too exciting to be honest. However if there was some sort of gameplay involved (doesn't have to be the exact card game, but something involving playing with the cards), I think it could work.
