Garbodor / Big Basics

Garbo as tier 1.... Called it. In October....

This is a totally different format than it was in October. Garbodor is the sort of card that will be good or bad more depending on its enemies than its friends, so to speak.

Same here. Marty posted a decent looking one in thread for his States article, which looks pretty good. It's very difficult to balance attackers, tools, and consistency which is why succeeding with this deck is mostly based on how good your list is.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

I played Garbador at states and I had a really hard time playing against Darkrai... I did not embrace HTL, I just teched against it while some kids did well with it.

Also, I would not recommend Computer Search. It's either Dowsing Machine OR Scramble Switch for those of you who were wondering... Scramble Switch for who is playing Landorus EX. Having it at low heath then switching out for a brand new Landorus is an amazing thing. Dowsing machine is good for when you have to get stuff back. Especially after you have just gotten Tool Scrapped.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Garbodor is T1! I remember trying to do one in the DRX momment :(

Mayor problem is space and inconsistency. It can get better next set (if it has the same opponents). Can anyone assemble a list? I'll try to update mine from BCR. If anyone has gotten any good with it, which is the best item to use? I remember using RS and GC.

4 Trubbish
3 Garbodor
2 Mewtwo EX
3 Landorus EX
12 Pokemon

3 Heavy Ball
4 Professor Juniper
4 N
4 Pokemon Catcher
4 Switch
4 Rescue Scarf
2 Eviolite
3 Ultra Ball
1 Dowsing Machine
4 Skyla
2 Virbank City Gym
3 Hypnotoxic Laser
38 T/S/S

12 Fighting Energy
12 Energies

Got it from bebessearch so that's why the amount of Energies/trainers/Pokemon is at the bottom. I need to take out 2 cards.

I called that it would be tier one in october. I completely agree with all that u said though.

Which Trubbish is the best in this deck? Which is more preferable, 70HP or Garbage Collection? [thread]Which Trubbish is the Best?[/thread] is where some of the 'Beachers opinions are.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

I question why you feel the need to ask that in here considering there is a whole thread dedicated to it, but for the record I use the Garbage Collection Trubbish. I have 7 other basics in my deck, and in the ~25 or so games I played with this deck last night I started lone Trubbish in 3 of them. And in 2 of THOSE Garbage Collection was actually invaluable for setting me up further, getting back cool stuff like Juniper/N/Switch (discarded due to said Juniper).

Finally got around to updating this deck last night for my PTCGO stream. This was one deck that I had built up in BCR and tweaked a lot, since I saw how good it could be. In that format I had something like a 20-4 record with it, and with all the games I played last night I had a very similar record now with the LaserBank version. Almost all of the losses I had were bad luck (one or two fueled by a poor decision perhaps). For example, I lost both times I played Blastoise/Keldeo, but the first game I prized both Garbodor and the second game my mistake was starting with two Landorus. Don't bench 2 Lando from your starting hand unless you know the opponent isn't playing Keldeo!

This deck is absolutely incredible, I dunno why people weren't expecting it to have any showing at States when all of the other top decks (bar Big Basics I guess) rely so heavily on Abilities to lay the beatdown. Even in the games that I did face Tool Scrapper in, usually it wasn't that big of a deal since I already had the game in a pretty big lockdown by that time. I also did play several games against Big Basic decks (and even one or two mirrors), and had little trouble competing with most of them despite Garbodor being useless in that match. Tornadus EX is an excellent tech to have around in this deck, since it really weakens opposing Landorus pretty well. I'll probably post my list a bit later on, when I have a chance to do so.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

It's probably just me, or does Garbodor with Biosmog from PLS seem to have a lot of potential. After testing it, it shines in the late game when your opponent is striving for resources, and you get rid of them.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

It is pretty good, maybe it would be good to test a 4-3/1 line with your choice of Trubbish and 3 Garbotoxin Garbo's and 1 PlasmaGarbo and see how it works.

Sorry for the run-on sentence lol.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

I run 4 Trubbish, 2 Garbotoxin Garbo's, and 1 Biosmog.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

3 Toxin and 1 Plasma sounds like it owuld be better, but if testing shows that 2 Toxin, 1 Plasma is better then roll with it.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

What about a pokemon line of 3-3 Garbodor, 2 Mewtwo, 2 Landorus, and 2 Tornados. I have found this too work the best.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Terrakion NV > Tornadus EX. Tornadus EX is great don't get me wrong, but you don't need to worry about a donk. Any BlastoiseKeldeo deck, and Plasmaklang deck has an auto loss to Garbage.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

I personally use 3-2 Garby, with 3 Mewtwo, 3 Lando and 1 Tornadus. A good chunk of my games devolved into either Mewtwo wars or Darkrai vs Landorus, and having 3 of each can really make the difference when keeping up with your opponent's mirrors. It's not uncommon to prize one of a particular EX, and if you prize one in a game that you REALLY need that particular EX to win you're going to have a hard time (Lando vs Darkrai, Mewtwo vs Keldeo).

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

The line I use is 2 70 HP from DRX Trubbish, 1 Garbage Collection, 2 Garbodor ability, 3 Landorus EX, 1 Mewtwo EX, 1 Tornadus EX, and 1 Bouff. Gives you a variety of attackers and a fighting chance against Big Basics.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

Am I the only one who would run Terrakion EX?? It makes a great starter, and you get get energy pumping fast.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

But it's not such a quick attacker. I would rather have my Fighting type attacker be Landorus-EX

Many good players run Terrakion EX. I don't prefer it (Lando with Lasers a faster job) but it is pretty good against Blastoise Keldeo and Darkrai.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

That's the thing, Terrakion EX is actually not a good starter. You need 2 energy on it to do anything as opposed to Tornadus EX or Landorus EX, and its first attack is rather lackluster and its only used for its 3 energy attack. But by that point you could just have the energy on whoever your main attacker is and you won't have much energy in your hand.

RE: Garbodor / Landorus EX / Mewtwo EX

a Turn 2 Garbodor will slow your opponent down more than starting with a Terrakion EX though. And Tornadus does need two energies.... Just DCE helps it a bit.
