RE: Writer's Lounge

Would making a book like White Fang, but Pokemon version be plagiarism?

RE: Writer's Lounge

Not at all, unless you're copying it word-for-word. Parodies and spoofs make up a huge amount of fanfics in general, and you're only plagarizing it if you don't cite the source somehow (even if you're just briefly referring to it).

RE: Writer's Lounge

You can't make White Fang better. Not possible. Making a Pokémon version of White Fang would be an insult to Jack London.

What Apollo said is true.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Thanks, I think that is gonna become my new fan-fic.

But you can make Jack London, better, you just
Warning, this has a great idea :p
Make him make another book, just have him work as hard as possible on it, and then publish it...
See!

RE: Writer's Lounge

Ironically, I've never read White Fang, just know about it vaguely. In any case, good luck on your new fic. Hopefully you'll still come back to Protection, though (if you're putting it on the side for now).

RE: Writer's Lounge

^I will be coming back, I only plan this new one to be like 5-6 chapters, and they are gonna be average length, like 2000-5000 words.

HOW HAVE YOU NOT READ WHITE FANG!!!
Read it...

RE: Writer's Lounge

I'm seriously picky when it comes to books. It's rare I find ones I actually like, and I usually make it a point to own them when I do since I come back to them months (or a few years) down the road.

RE: Writer's Lounge

^I don't see how you wouldn't like White Fang, it is just like your writing+ Thousands of words of details per chapter, you would love it since your always reminding me to add details, it would be good for you..

RE: Writer's Lounge

I'm finally off work for a few days, so I'm going to be trying to make more updates and backed-up critiques I've promised a few people. There may be some other things I'll be doing too, but I'm not sure yet...

RE: Writer's Lounge

White Fang was a book selected for our writing assignments last year in Middle School. Obviously, it's a great book. Most students in my class failed to get past the first chapter before they were perplexed by the details, but I enjoyed what little I read. Apollo, I suggest it since it's so similar to your style. MrGatr, I think you're onto something...

I'll look into seeing if I can find a copy then. Anyways, I re-edited Biohazard's first chapter with a remedial update again, adding a few more details to certain spots. I might be doing another Fakedex update too tomorrow if I get a chance to.

RE: Writer's Lounge

^I have yet to read Biohazard, I don't have the time... But I will get to it... Believe me.

And I have a writing assigment, about white fang, it is simple as heck... "How does the setting effect the story?"

See...

It would never happen if it wasn't there...

I finally got around to write the 5th paragraph to the book. It is hard to mimic Jack London, and not steal the whole book...

RE: Writer's Lounge

Writing a book. Have all the major scenes planned out in my head. Can't figure out the fluff in between.

What do?

RE: Writer's Lounge

Don't fluff it. Just make sure that the major events are smoothly connected. You'll naturally "fluff" it that way.

RE: Writer's Lounge

I tend to get super duper writers block cuz I know the basic idea of what's gonna happen but when I try to write it down it doesn't always flow out the way I want it. That's probably my main issue.

RE: Writer's Lounge

If you can't imagine what your character would do given the events, they don't have enough impact in them. Make sure your character designs are strong enough to guide you naturally through the process.

RE: Writer's Lounge

I have the main events.... It is based of of White Fang So I know what Ima gonna do.

Zyflair is a ninja

Thanks...

RE: Writer's Lounge

My character development definitely suffers. Some of my characters are very well thought out and others...aren't at all. Lol
