RE: Writer's Lounge

^That is the first thing Ima doin...(Horrible Grammar in a Writers Lounge GOLD!)

I had my honors English teacher take a look at it, and she found almost 30 spots were description was needed. It was really obvious,
I couldn't believe I didn't see those.

RE: Writer's Lounge

I used to give critics on fanfics (and to be honest, I still have the capability to do so), but to be honest, it gets really annoying and draining when you make a suggestion to someone and they do absolutely nothing with it or brush them off.

That's why as a whole I've given up on the Writer's Corner at Pokebeach, but for some strange inexplicable reason I'm holding on a slim thread that this place has the potential to be brought back again as a good forum.

And the possibility does still exist, I don't deny it. It's just very slim...

RE: Writer's Lounge

Call me skeptical, but I'd like you to prove it.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Rofl. I'm not actually published. But for the past...6 or 7 years I've been struggling with the idea of these books. I'm still amateur as a writer, sadly. I have 20 poems, and then many many many ideas for my books swirling in my head. I've been trying to write it down mostly because I get the feeling that the fact that my mind has been bent on these books for so long it's stifling my creativity in other areas.

RE: Writer's Lounge

At least it's a good ideal to head for; I'll give you that. And I know you're no slouch, so...what do you have for these ideas of yours so far?

RE: Writer's Lounge

DNA. You're asking for 7 years of ideas that started as a childish game involving dragons and has become a universe unto itself with 27 worlds that have been re-created 27 times over thousands and thousands of years. Even I don't know all the ideas I have so far.

I have the titles for 4 books though ^.^

EDIT: Okay, jokes aside...I have a LOT of ideas. It's hard to describe everything in full, especially since it's very cluttered up there. I have a lot of ideas and not all of them are going to fit in. Also I rarely write things down like character concepts. It's all in my head. I feel like the crossover between Tolkien and Tesla.

RE: Writer's Lounge

that started as a childish game involving dragons
I didn't hear any mention of 20-sided dice. This is a good sign.

I do understand the basic gist of what you're talking about though. Although, I usually find that if I keep ideas in my head cooped up too long, they end up getting cluttered and sometimes a bit "tainted". I'm trying to get in the habit of actually writing important character aspects down, so in case I don't totally remember everything about an OC of mine, I can at least look at what I wrote down and get a better idea.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Oh gosh no it wasn't D&D. It was more of a spawn of the imagination like most kids games on playgrounds. lol

Yeah I want to write more stuff down. However surprisingly I haven't forgotten many names. I can think of one that I've forgotten and it's bugged me ever since. But other than that I can name most of the concepts I've had over the years.

RE: Writer's Lounge

I can think of one that I've forgotten and it's bugged me ever since.
And this is why I mentioned writing things down - this happens to me too. I either forget for months on end, or have to make something completely new up.

RE: Writer's Lounge

I ended up scrapping the character entirely. A dragon named "*insert forgotten name* the Apocalypse King." I might bring him back later but in the space of time where my main trilogy takes place, dragons are extinct.

RE: Writer's Lounge

You would be very surprised how few names I forget which isn't an easy feat. I invent every single character name myself and few are based off of English. Sarlathan. Laefer. Artorius.

Fun fact: The Fallen One is the nickname for one of my characters.

RE: Writer's Lounge

I thought it was a way to make the phrase "Ganon, the Fallen One" to be abbreviated in a hilarious manner.

RE: Writer's Lounge

no... You cheated... Not a coincidence...
LIER!

Funny part is though... i forget my characters names everyday:p

Writer's Lounge: Chaging Topics Since the Beginning

Out of curiousity, is there anyone besides aggie that writes simply fiction rather than science fiction?

RE: Writer's Lounge

So long as people aren't bashing each other, a little mish-mashed conversation is fine as long as it's sort of relevant, Zy. Also, I have written some realistic fiction in the past, but nothing I've ever posted online.
