RE: Writer's Lounge

"Ya'll" is slang. It's dialect for quite a few regions and is an accepted word. Only thing you have to consider is that people not of these regions using those words would seem out of place.

New Yorkers can't say Y'all? :p I do it all the time, lol

Anyways, yes, ya'll is indeed a word.

Apollo, nice choice of a topic for the current contest (You should also enter me into that :p)

RE: Writer's Lounge

We out here in the boonies of Wisconsin use "ya'll" all the time. Also my mom has a really strong tendency to use "Don'tchaknow" too.

Also, I'll add you then, DV57.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Cool....
If you haven't heard an Utah'n accent....
You've gotta hear one...
We pronounce everything like
Mountin, Laytin...
It's truly great

RE: Writer's Lounge

Oh gosh sometimes I wonder why I even try making references. Even people I think will get them don't xD

RE: Writer's Lounge

This is what you get for doing it in PB. |3

If you wanna see accents, all you have to do is read Mark Twain.

Good one DV57

How long should the guide pages be?

As long as you feel they should be. I try and aim for at least two pages, but they don't have to be drawn out. It'll still need to be proofread anyways.

RE: Writer's Lounge

@Apollo - As we discussed earlier, I will gladly write the Common Mistakes: 'They're, Their and There' Words subsection of the Writer's Guide Project.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Fair enough. When you get it done just post it here or send it to me for proofreading. I'm trying to at least get sections together so I have them on-hand, but you'll also be credited if I get a final draft ready to be posted.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Yes, tons of credit! But you can't buy anything because it's bad credit! ;P

Yeah, that should've been a given that the original author of a section of the guide will get credit for their work.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Hmm... I started jotting down two ideas for short fics. The first I already described (i.e. the chronicles of a nearly apocalyptic battle between my fakemon Otulp, who's supposedly the "God of Death" from my Ronac Region, and Arceus), while the other I'm trying to do is a horror story I may have up before or after Halloween starring my Fakemon Zomborg and its evolved form Zombrong and Zombroken. The idea of the group is that, sometime between the late 1800s and early 1900s, a factory in Lactavarn City, Ronac started to manufacture mechanized work-horses to replace real Pokemon for farm work (such as tilling soil for agriculture, pulling wagons, and the like). However, they were so badly designed, slow-moving, and clunky that nobody wanted to use them anymore, so they were inevitably discontinued. The models that survived the years were stored away and abandoned within the original factory they were first built in, but at some point, evil spirits somehow possessed the machines and gave them new life as demonic Pokemon. Hearing rumors about them, a group of teenagers sets out to the old factory to investigate and gets the most terrifying experience of their lives. That sound too generic to anyone?

Also, as a small reminder for myself, I'll keep the list of sections for the guide on hand for a bit, and update it when I can to mark down what's been done and what hasn't. Again, this is just a side project for the time being and nothing to rush to complete right away, but any progress helps it come closer to completion.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Pretty much. I wanted to make sure there was some sort of record of what's been done and what's not as far as the guide's concerned. Basically if it doesn't have someone else's name next to it, it's up for grabs.
