RE: Writer's Lounge

I think Me, The fallen one, ZY, and you could actually have it covered... Look Ima home sick all week I have loads of time...

With the contest, I would just make a combined large contest! A single thread with all the contest requirements in them. Then have a separate thread for voting, and submitting...It would probably increase the activity around here.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Honestly, one active thread at a time for individual contests is easier to keep track of than several different threads for each stage of them (even if they're supposed to be "all-in-one"). I looked up a lot of really older contests before starting the ones I have in recent times, and I hated how sloppy they looked because they had different threads for each stage. But, that's my opinion... In any case, I'll see about doing a third contest for regular poetry, but that might be it for them then. The main reason for starting them in the first place was to try and bring some attention back to the WC and give people something to do again (if that wasn't obvious).

As for the guide, it's supposed to be a long-term project, so I guess I'll look into starting it up again soon. The problem before was that we former members of Writer's Haven just lost interest in it somewhere down the line or something.

RE: Writer's Lounge

I agree with the poetry idea. I write some good poems, but I don't think they're the type people would read. Other than that, they're good! I'm new to this forum, so I'm a bit nervous.

RE: Writer's Lounge

@Apollo

Something like a Writer's Guide would definitely be something I would be interested in helping out in :)

RE: Writer's Lounge

Do you plan to be going by CH's old template, or are you going to make a totally new one instead?
I know that bits and pieces of it are in the old TWH thread in no particular order...

RE: Writer's Lounge

It seems that everyone wants the writers guide...
It looks like I guessed good with what the writers wanna do!

RE: Writer's Lounge

DNA: If you could copy-and-paste the outline from the old thread and PM it to me as well as paste it here, I'd be grateful. There was also a hidden thread I salvaged original articles for Zy from before. I'll ask him if he still has those since the thread in question recently had to be removed (if not, I'll look into recovering it somehow).

RE: Writer's Lounge

This is a direct copy-paste from the OP of the TWH topic...unedited, as you might gather just from reading it. It'll take me a while to find the finished sections; I'll need to dig through the topic.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Find what you can. If not, again, I'm going to ask Zy if he has the previous things I sent him. Likewise, if you come across things I posted before (all one or two anyways), just leave them. I have retained the drafts of those on my laptop. I'll take sign-ups for this project via PM only, but don't ask to be assigned to any one topic yet because I'd like to just get a head-count before starting work on this again.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Yeah I'm not terribly sure how well my entry for the contest is going. I'm at about 250 words right now...but I'm not sure it's something that many people will like. You know what I mean?

RE: Writer's Lounge

Thanks, DNA. I'd have done it, but I didn't have a chance to get to my library today.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Minor announcement on what I'll be doing regarding the guide: Later today I may be submitting a proposal to SR to get permission for this and see if he could advertise that I'll be taking sign-ups for this project by the weekend or sometime soon. If I get an okay, I might start an actual thread for sign-ups, article assignments, and draft/proofreading. Any sections that haven't already been written up beforehand will be open for anyone to volunteer to write about. This may be a long term project and I'm hoping we can pull it off, but problems arise or people start fighting with each other (or, worse, me), I'll shutdown the project without notice.

Just remember, this is all if I can get permission to begin with. A lot of collab works have had a history of failing terribly here (i.e. The Cerulean, the previous attempt at this that never came to fruition, amongst others I'm sure).

RE: Writer's Lounge

To my knowledge, it was just discontinued because the submission quality was terrible and people didn't keep up with getting their work in on-time. There haven't been any mentionings of the S-Mods reviving it either...

RE: Writer's Lounge

That seems to what happens to most Collab works....
We all just need to get dedicated, and do our work...
Then it should come back, and if it does, we just need to set a specific deadline, and Apollo can warn people for crappy posts, and not getting work in on time...

RE: Writer's Lounge

[Question]

Are we allowed to post non-Pokemon related works one here, or is it strictly Pokemon?

RE: Writer's Lounge

No, not at all! TBH, it's usually not Pokemon stuff I see around the Writer's Corner. I usually see fan-fics of Pokebeach characters and stuff, but feel free to post whatever you want! Of course, by "whatever," I mean "Read the rules and check your writing for any possible form of inappropriateness.
