RE: Writer's Lounge

Working on my resume/requirements this month for a job I want to apply for... >_>

RE: Writer's Lounge

Yeah... studying multiple programming languages over a month isn't fun at all.

RE: Writer's Lounge

I typically write on paper in the early mornings. Around 5 AM or so. It does seem odd, but hey, that's when I'm at my sharpest. Good thing English is my first period at school, huh?

Good luck to you Zy.

RE: Writer's Lounge

@AoH: I get up between 5:30 and 7:30 most mornings and write. It's not that strange, just saying.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Hmm...mini-bump with a slightly divergent topic...

The announcement of cuts kind of has me concerned because it may have the opposite effect of driving people away from PB instead of diverting attention to forums where it's needed. I've been trying to keep this part of the forum up and running best I can, but if people start to leave, that may actually kill this one altogether. Anyone feel the same?

RE: Writer's Lounge

Yes, I do, because I'm a great writer and I'm trying to get people to even notice the other forums. They're neglecting this forum. I don't want this forum to just disappear because of the Games. The Games forum needed to be destroyed because it's attracting attention to newcomers. This entire site may be bought down because of this forum. People could leave if our so-called "favorite" games forum gets thrown away. The games forum is actually evil because it leaves Pokemon from the site. This is called POKEbeach, not GAMEYbeach! If I think about this, it's:

Pokebeach = Gameybeach.

Please... don't leave this site, people. We are arguing because of this. SR said "Riots = Ban" in his sig. I think that this is turning into the "Dark Age of Pokebeach".

And, oh, I was thinking of going here to write, but I have a question. Does a story have to be published all over the world to get here?

RE: Writer's Lounge

@LuckyPokeGirl: You can post almost anything you want here so long as it's literature and follows the baseline rules as far as formatting, length, and appropriate contest are concerned. If something you have is published, though, I'd recommend against it. But otherwise most stuff here is freelance non-published works or things people are trying to get advice on.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Now I understand. I'll go read the rules to make sure I don't break the rules. Thanks, I'll begin writing!

RE: Writer's Lounge

If you have questions about them, just drop me a line. I just went through and revised them just over two weeks ago, and added some explanations to why they stand as is. I've considered skimming those down if need-be, but I hope they're clear enough.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Hmm... I'm trying to think of things to start that aren't just more contests... I asked MrGatr the other day if he had anything in mind, but I'm not sure if group writing projects would work out. We could try and revive the old Writer's Haven writing guide project, but I don't know if anyone would really want to volunteer for something like that... :/

RE: Writer's Lounge

I'd be down for just a regular poetry contest (No Haiku's), but I only say that because they're my forte.

Or an open Haiku Conest, that'd work too.

Poetry contest would be cool. If I could write happy poetry...:p

You and me both. I have a whole thread of unhappy poems (Its in my sgnature, go check it out ;) )___

RE: Writer's Lounge

Hmm I may do that. Right now I'm working on my draft for my story in the contest...I'm not terribly confident about the topic I'm writing on but hopefully people will like it rofl.

RE: Writer's Lounge

While you guys worry about writing happy, I worry about having chickenpox I worry about being able to rhyme....
scheme, and the part that I can't write happy either...

RE: Writer's Lounge

Confidence is not available in the writer's toolbox. |3

RE: Writer's Lounge

@Darkvoid57: When I started the haiku contest, it was originally going to be one for short poems in general, not just haikus. I only changed it because nobody seemed interested otherwise. But, if you want, I could look into starting a free-verse or open-style contest alongside what's already going on. My thinking is just that people might be getting annoyed by having more than one or two contests going on at once.

If it's any consolation, I'm not too confident with my own entry either because it doesn't seem like the stuff people would like to read (to me). But then, I may be saying that because it's so drastically different from what I normally write.

RE: Writer's Lounge

@ Apollo.
We should get the Writers Haven project come back.
But about the whole thing about having more contest,

The more the merrier!

RE: Writer's Lounge

Perhaps we should. The group itself was closed up a while ago, and since the "Groups" forum itself is closing up shop, I'd like to at least get some serious projects like the writing guide started here again. The only issue I foresee is getting people to volunteer who can submit decent quality work for sections the guide would cover or have the time to dedicate to it.

With extra contests, though, I suppose I could manage a few more if people are willing to enter them. I just didn't want to overload the forum with them to the point where it looks like they're the only thing going on. Otherwise, I just need a go-ahead from SR before starting them, but mostly because he said he wanted to advertise any that are going on in the Portal from here-on-out now that changes are being implemented.
