RE: How much impact will Gengar Prime ACTUALLY have?

OK, how is Gengar Prime not quick? You go second, Gastly start, Rare Candy to Gengar Prime, attatch a Psychic, send something to the lost zone. Easy.

RE: How much impact will Gengar Prime ACTUALLY have?

i'm with you Tyraniking. If built right it could be as fast as a straight gengar sf deck, and they are fast.

Most people think of gengar prime as a tank like card that don't damage your opponent. And most tanking pokemon are really slow, thus people think gengar prime is slow. (My thought)

Gengar prime can be built in various ways and the decks speed depends on how you run it and with what.

RE: How much impact will Gengar Prime ACTUALLY have?

I've built the deck, and it's NOT fast at all. It's not the slowest, though. I will give it that.

RE: How much impact will Gengar Prime ACTUALLY have?

Well i bet you play with spiritomb starter and then use it for like 3 turns? (If it survives) It makes the deck slower.

If played like a mother gengar (i think thats the name? with gengar sf, and nidoqueen for healing). You would have the same speed as that deck and it's fast.

RE: How much impact will Gengar Prime ACTUALLY have?

If only Speed Stadium was still legal :( I'd try a Honchkrow tech for Lost World and get Speed while I'm at it.

Again, slow isn't the word. The only reason you'd think it's slow is because it's not CONSISTENT. Gengar can be two shotted by most decks. For each two shot, 2 Pokemon in the lost zone. It'd be really tough to set up 3 Gengars and a Lost World. It needs Rescues or Rescue Energy.

RE: How much impact will Gengar Prime ACTUALLY have?

I usually (unless I have a nightmare hand) get out a Gengar Prime Turn 2 running my Lostgar as a Lock deck. (aka hopeful Spiritomb start) However, Tyraniking is right... it can be too inconsistent to compete with the likes of Luxchomp, however I think Gengar will be scary good (depending on what comes out in the Black and White sets....) once Platnium leaves.

RE: How much impact will Gengar Prime ACTUALLY have?

You don't need Gengar Prime t2. Best start would be

1 Mew Prime, 1 Collector, another Mew Prime/Gastly. What's so good about this deck, is that Mew Prime is FASTER than Luxchomp. T2 with two energies if they didn't kill. If they did kill bring up another, attach psychic and put one in the lost zone. Pokemon Rescue/Combee SF = More Mew Prime! Use Mew Prime early game, and set up Gengar Prime on bench, then when the time is right bring it out. Luxchomp is forced to Tail Code/Kill Gengar Prime because if they attack the bench Gengar Prime will get a lot of energies, and be able to send 3 pokemon to the lost zone at a time.

RE: How much impact will Gengar Prime ACTUALLY have?

Ya, I know a few Mew's is a good start (and will be a game ending start once Luxchomp is gone), but I was just saying that Gengar Prime with a Spiritomb start is definitely not slow.

RE: How much impact will Gengar Prime ACTUALLY have?

u have to be joking. gengar still puts your pokemon in the lost zone it still disrupts any deck even without the stadium. it is still is a great card no matter what!
E.G. okay so gengar prime is up against luxchomp so luxray comes up and pulls some one else up and then poke turned, k they drop the luxray they use garchomps attack then you go... you draw, you play a hunter pick up a uxie they pick one up too. then u plunge into darkness u put two (Atleast) pokemon into the lost zone one of which is their only luxray lv x then u whomp for the win :) (Sorry about forgetting luxray lv X's power and forgetting garchomp lv X's attack :):):)

im happy this card is coming out cuz it really disrupts two of the most overused decks out there luxchomp and gyrados
this deck will rlly dominate if combined with card like palkia g x, pichu frm hhss, and twins and stuff like that frm triumphant because u dnt rlly take that many prizes with this deck and pichu would bebest to get knocked out then get put in the lost zone by palkia pokke power

@ Ryley How is G-dos overused in a format without felicities?
Also whats the point of a Mew Prime start anyway?
To put a gengar prime into the lost zone and then use Plunge into Darkness? (Still at T2)

You sue gyrados as a tool box, i.e. Junk arm and Poke Drawer. You are essentially running 8 poke drawer. However it dies to trainer lock, so it won't see much play.

I'm mixed on the Gengar Prime now by reading this thread, I was thinking of comboing it with my SF/Cursegar. Now I'm thinking I'll test it and if its useless I'll keep it for collection

Didn't bother reading the whole thread since it is long and it is late, but has anyone mentioned the fact that Luxray X strength lies in the ability to poke turn and abuse Bright Look? If you bright look and then poketurn, you have to wait a turn to re level up if you return to hand. Unless you return it to the deck, it is left open to be sent to the Lost Zone. Same thing with Garchomp C X. While they may not do damage, the X's being sent away will DESTROY SP's. Sure, you run 2-2 lines, but how useful is an SP Level X whose power you can only use once or twice during the game?

SP just needs to tech dialga G. If you can keep the deafen up long enough, you will win. They KO it, aarons it back, keep up the deafen. While building up the snipes, and eventually belt the dialga and have a mini-tank. You can also try a fossil, so when they hunter, you pick up the fossil, and its not a pokemon. It is a great deck, but there are ways around it.

But the only thing is that what happens when Dialga G is sent to the lost zone instead of discarded, Aarons won't help much there.

The body doesnt work with DGX, so they have to wait until you stop spraying level down.

You won't be able to Level Up and Deafen in the same turn unless you don't Deafen for a turn. Because you'll have the Level X in your hand for Gengar to send to the Lost Zone otherwise.

Edit: Whoops, forgot about that. My mind is jumbled.

dmaster out.

... or you can seek out the Dialga G Lv.X when you are ready to level up. I think I am missing something.
