With this team I have beaten all the Gym Leaders, Elite 4, Champion, Hugh, Team Plasma, Ghetsis, Colress, N, Alder, Cynthia, Cilan, Chili & Cress, Benga, Shadow Traid, GAME FREAK Nishino, GAME FREAK Morimoto and the Driftveil, Unova, Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh rounds of the Pokemon World Tournament.

Samurott - Cut should be replaced with a different move with more power. Possibly Hidden Power if your Pokemon has a good type for it. You could also try eitehr Strength or Megahorn.

Arcanine- Replace Flame Burst with Protect. This is especially helpful if you are doing doubles or triples. It makes it so you don't have to be as conservative with using Surf or Earthquake.

Flygon - Replace Earth Power with Earthquake. It has more base power and your Flygon has higher ATK than SAtk.

Lucario - Replace Psychic with Close Combat. Close Combat is Lucario's most powerful move it gets and covers a wide variety of types while Psychic does not. Lucario is not meant to last long on the field while destroying opponents. Its Defenses are too low where the stat drop from Close Combat doesn't matter. Replace Strength with Extreme Speed. Extreme Speed has a +2 priority. Protect is the only thing that moves before it. It can be helpful in a pinch plus the amount of times you would use Strength should not be too many.

You might consider replacing Ampharos with Jolteon who has higher Base Speed and still has respectable Special Attack. It also has access to Shadow Ball while still being able to learn Signal Beam via TM.

Crobat - I would replace Bite with Confuse Ray. With Crobat having a 130 Base Speed Stat, it will outpace nearly everything in the game and have a chance to inflict a condition on the opponent. You still have Air Slash to flinch the opponent which is all Bite is helpful for. You might consider using King's Rock to further increase the flinch rate of Air Slash. Another option would be to give it Black Sludge for gradual HP recovery since you can stall with Fly, although I'd prefer King's Rock.

Okay, so I've been taking a break from my Egglocke to play through the Black 2 game I got for Christmas. It is because of that that I have accumulated several Dream Radar Pokemon for my playthrough. The team is nowhere near complete, so I need some advice.

[animate]musharna[/animate]
~Psychic
~Shadow Ball
~Energy Ball
~Gyro Ball

Yeah, this is the Munna from the tutorial. Psychic is a basic STAB move, while the other 3 provide decent coverage. Yes, I know Gyro Ball's a physical attack, but Musharna's so slow it'll probably do crazy amounts of damage anyway.

That's the only definite member of my team. I still haven't decided the rest yet. That's why I came here. I have compiled a list of the Pokemon I have received from Dream Radar. I want you to help me turn it into a nice, diverse team.
Now, you may notice that the Pokemon I have caught aren't very diverse in type. So, you aren't limited to that list. You can choose any pokemon from any region for the others! However, I would like you to choose at least 3 from the list.
Riolu w/Prankster x2
Sigilyph w/Tinted Lens x5
Swablu w/Cloud Nine x5
Drifloon w/Flare Boost x3
Tornadus w/Regenerator x1
Beldum w/Light Metal x1
HootHoot w/Tinted Lens x1 (modest)
Slowpoke w/Regenerator x1
Shuckle w/Contrary x1 (impish)
Thundurus w/Volt Absorb x1
Porygon w/Analytic x1
Staryu w/Analytic x1 (I have a water Stone, so I don't need to wait until I get surf to evolve)
Bronzor w/Heavy Metal x2
Yes, that is a pretty long list. Remember, you are not restricted to these Pokemon, but I would like you to choose at least 3. Also, give a reason for why I should use the selected Pokemon. I hope to see some constructive criticism.

Changes in Bold. For the most part, though, this is a good team!

Anyway, since nobody bothered to help me build my team, I have built it myself.

Flygon

Level- 69

Draco Meteor
Earthquake

Yanmega
469.gif

tinted lens
leftovers
hypnosis, dream eater, bug buzz, toxic

Yanmega is able to learn my favourite combo, Hypnosis and Dream Eater. I like the bug element too and the high sp. attack makes the (recovering) Dream Eater an unbelievable move! Combined with leftovers, this Yanmega is all recovering and powerful... Swapped Guardevoir out for Yanmega.

Houndoom
229.gif

flash fire
charcoal
dark pulse, shadow ball, fire blast, flamethrower

I like Houndoom. He gets STAB for 3 of his 4 moves and with his high sp. attack he is sheer brute force... Was a choice between fire blast, flamethrower and heatwave but i chose the first 2 for overall power and PP... Was either Houndoom or Typhlosion...

Marowak
105.gif

rock head
thick club
earthquake, bonemerang, double edge, stone edge

Marowak with thick club is savage. Combined with Earthquake it is lethal! The Rock Head ability lets me use Double Edge without worrying and, like i said, with Thick Club its physical attacks are unreal! total physical power!

Victreebel
071.gif

chlorophyll
heat rock
solar beam, sunny day, synthesis, leaf blade

Iv always been a fan of Sunny Day and Solar Beam (as i have Rainy Day and Thunder). Victreebel is the best pokemon i could think of that learnt both and coupled with the Heat Rock it lasts longer. If i get into trouble, Synthesis will be improved by the Sunny Day too. Leaf Blade is in there just for an all out powerful, physical move.

Flygon
330.gif

levitate
Dragon Fang
fly, dragon pulse, draco meteor, hyper beam

Thinking of swapping one of the moves for Roost, but im not sure what to get rid of... Iv always like Flygon since he was my first (and only) shiny Pokemon iv found. Fly is convenient and a move type im missing so far so Flygon really is my flying Pokemon. I also like that he is a Dragon type so could really be handy with Dragon type moves. Hyper Beam is in his moveset but, on second thoughts, will be replaced with Roost in the near future!

Starmie
121.gif

natural cure
mystic water
hydro pump, thunderbolt, surf, ice beam

My savior! Starmie is in my team because i needed Ice, Water and Electric moves. I used to have Lanturn in my team and he done really well but iv now changed to Starmie for the extra power. Did try and accomodate Recovder into his moveset but it just wouldnt fit... I would have to get rid of either Hydro Pump or Surf and i dont know if i can...

Views and opinions please!!

Put earthquake on Flydon. With STAB its base power is 150 the same as hyperbeam and can hit stuff for super effective.

~Thunderbolt

~Rain Dance
~Thunder

Skyspin/Hitmontop (I also just got Skyspin, so these are planned moves as well.)
~Triple Kick
~Mach Punch
~Substitute
~Focus Punch

Groudon (When I catch it)
~Sunny Day
~Solarbeam
~Fissure
~Earthquake

~SS
You shouldn't have Groudon and rain dance on the same team. They conflict with each other. Also, Groudon shouldn't have Sunny Day, Solarbeam, or Fissure.
I think it's a little late to be giving advice, seeing as how his post was from over 2 years ago.

The only thing that hasn't been mentioned by someone else earlier is that having Rain Dance and an Emboar on the same team is a bad idea for Emboar. Replace it with Energy Ball or Will-o-Wisp on Jellicent.

Replace Take Down, Flare Blitz, and Arm Thrust on Emboar with Brick Break, Head Smash, and Wild Charge. Brick Break is stronger than Arm Thrust. Take Down and Flare Blitz are unnecessary, while Head Smash and Wild Charge provide coverage.

Replace Fire Punch on Ampharos with something like Focus Blast, Signal Beam, or Power Gem because Ampharos has a much higher Special Attack.

Replace Energy Ball, and Flash Cannon on Ferrothorn with Curse and Gyro Ball. Ferrothorn's Attack is higher than its Special Attack, so Physical moves will do more damage, plus you already have Power Whip, so there's no reason for Energy Ball. With Curse you can take and deal more damage, not to mention that Gyro Ball is further strengthened by Curse's Speed lowering.

You already have one status move on Yanmega, so you don't need Toxic. Honestly, Hypnosis+Dream Eater isn't that great of a tactic, especially on Yanmega. I'd suggest keeping Bug Buzz and replacing the other moves with Air Slash, Shadow Ball, and Psychic.

Shadow Ball is pretty useless on Houndoom because it has the same coverage as Dark Pulse, but it doesn't get STAB. Replace it with Thunder Fang to hit Water types.

While Sunny Day would be fine on Victreebel, it hurts your Starmie, so I'd suggest getting rid of your sun. Victreebel really isn't that great of a Pokemon, especially without sun, and there are many better Grass types like Tangrowth, but if you really want to keep it, I'd suggest changing your moveset to Stockpile, Sleep Powder, Energy Ball, and Sludge Bomb. Stockpile is for raising your poor defense stats, Sludge Bomb is a decent STAB move that I only recommend because Victreebel has a bad movepool, and Energy Ball/Sleep Powder should be obvious.

On Flygon, you should replace Hyper Beam with Earthquake and Dragon Pulse with Dragon Claw or Outrage. Hyper Beam may have high power, but its Normal type and recharge make it a pretty bad move. Earthquake is one of the best moves in the game, so you seriously need to run it. You already have Draco Meteor, so you don't need the weaker Dragon Pulse, which is further weakened by D-Meteor's Special Attack drop. Dragon Claw/Outrage are better because Flygon has a higher Attack stat, which again isn't lowered by D-Meteor. Dragon Claw's a pretty reliable move, while Outrage is stronger, but locks you into it for 2-3 turns and can cause confusion.

Not sure if people are still replying to this thread, but I'm about to start up Platinum because my little brother is getting it for his birthday. We plan to play it side by side and battle each other after each Gym Leader. This is the team I intend to use. If there are better movesets, please let me know.

Torterra:
- Wood Hammer
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- Leech Seed

Staraptor:
- Brave Bird
- Return
- Close Combat
- U-Turn

Rotom:
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Thunder Wave
- Confuse Ray

Floatzel:
- Waterfall
- Crunch
- Brick Break
- Ice Fang

Houndoom:
- Flamethrower
- Dark Pulse
- Solarbeam
- Sunny Day

Alakazam
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball

The only thing I can think of is changing Ice Fang to Ice Punch on Floatzel because the higher damage will be better for late-game. That's the only thing I can think of at the moment, the rest of your team looks good.

I decided to restart Platinum and use a mono Fighting team, as it's my favorite type. I've never done a mono type run, but I tried to cover everything as best I could. This is what I plan to aim for.

Infernape w/ Blaze
- Fire Punch or Flare Blitz
- Close Combat
- U-Turn
- Shadow Claw

Machamp w/ No Guard
- Dynamic Punch
- Payback
- Ice Punch
- Thunder Punch

Heracross w/ Guts
- Close Combat
- Megahorn
- Stone Edge
- Night Slash

Lucario w/ Inner Focus
- Aura Sphere
- Shadow Ball
- Dragon Pulse
- Psychic

Toxicroak w/ Dry Skin
- Revenge or Brick Break
- Poison Jab
- X-Scissor or Sucker Punch
- Earthquake

Gallade w/ Steadfast
- Close Combat
- Psycho Cut
- Leaf Blade
- Night Slash

Dragon pulse or Draco meteor over Dragon breath on Reshiram, and on Samurott Ice Beam and Grass Knot over Cut and Dive. You should probably get rid of all HMs, except for Fly and Surf, for coverage moves since you won't be using those much.

I'm not really worried about the right EV's Nature, and Personality, since I only battle against my Wi-Fi friends.
