How is expert Belt a counter? Ok, so other decks do 20 more damage and have 20 more HP against Gyarados but then when Gyarados knocks out the expert belt pokemon it takes 2 prizes. If you're saying it's a counter against Gyarados it's a counter against everything. And why can't Gyarados run expert belt as well?

Luxray AoA is a pretty inefficient counter. It OHKO's Gyarados for 3 energy, Gyarados does 90 for 0 and with help could easily one-shot a Luxray. Doesn't seem like an amazing counter to me.

if your BR is in colorado everybody thats anybody is playin blazRay luxape and flygon. some guy did really well with noenergy mightyena though

This post is a bit old but I just wanted to get it out there that Luxray GL is pretty much a fail against Gyarados. I played a straight up Luxray variant for while, and it lost to Gyarados every time, since they just one shot you and they have an easier time recovering, and I still had a hard time even with Mr. Mime teched in..

I actually beat Flygon 4/4 time with it though, suprisingly... probably because of my Ditto tech. :p

Were you running Lucario GL?

if you do the match-up is ~50-50.
