Hip Hop/Rap

You know who else is signed to a major label? Die Antwoord. They're a bit weird for someone trying to forma an opinion on rap though.
 
It wasn't so much the fact that they're signed to a major label, but I figured their music would be pretty easy to get a hold of.
 
Yeah, I just wanted to mention Die Antwoord somewhere in this thread and you gave me a nice way to fade in to it.
 
I don't like Die Antwoord.
Part of it is how weird they are. I can appreciate a certain amount of weirdness in any medium of art, but I just don't think they sound that good in the end. I like Ninja though.

My favorite rappers are Eminem and Drake.

Hip-hop, I'd say Nicki Minaj (If you could call her Hip-hop)

Favorite songs wise, Love the Way you Lie Part 2, Sylables (Various Artists), Super Bass, and Moment For Life
 
I really like a bunch of Youtube rappers, and I'm actually pretty surprised to see people know of them. (That's a good thing though!)

dumbfoundead, J.Reyez, D-Pryde, Lil Crazed and Chris Webby are some of my favorites.
 
If you could call The Lonely Island (Makers of the hit multi-platinum single, I'm on a Boat) Rap/Hip-hop, they're good too.

I'm also glad to see others into YouTube rappers. Can't say I've heard much of J. Reyez or Chris Webby, but I do like what I have. Lil Crazed and DFD are sick. D-Pryde... I liked him when he was raw. For whatever reason, he's totally changed his style and his voice, imo, sounds kinda whiny now. He also doesn't swear. I know that shouldn't bother me but it does.

Their stuff is just comedic, but I think you can call it rap.

Ehh... I would argue that the joke is pretty funny at times.

But most of this thread is already a flame war.

Difficult by Eminem is also really nice.

MC Frontalot, MC Chris, Nursehella, YT Cracker.
Ty W's post amused me because it was awesome and also because he is Ty Weeler.

If you can call making fun of rap, a rap, then I guess. But I'd never recommend them as anything except funny or parodies.

Yeah, some of their songs can pass as rap, like the one they did with Akon that I won't give the name of because I dont want a warning.
 
Well, yeah, but they are setting rhyming words to a rhythm, and they aren't singing, so I think it's essentially rap. You are right in that they are essentially a rap parody, but rap nonetheless.

LORDY, I hate MC Chris with a passion. Are his rhymes good? Yes. Does he flow well? Yes. Is he at all pleasing to listen to? No.
