Yet, when everyone says "staple", it means Werewolf.

I'll be the first to say that there are plenty of good games that involve intelligent thought and discussion (The Challenge, Big Brother, Mafia).

^ This.

This isn't a Communist regime here, people. You can voice your opinions and debate things. This isn't happening because the mods think they have total and complete control over everyone. This is happening because the most active forum on a Pokemon website should be about Pokemon, not about pointless forum games. If you want to argue against it, no one is stopping you. Just be civil about it.

Like [thread]Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Light Pokemon Attack![/thread]? Maybe we could keep all the RPGs... But seriously, people, stop arguing.

You're telling people to "stop arguing", yet all you have done in this thread is posting saying how getting rid of the games is a bad idea, most of the members will leave, etc...? Also, you link to your thread with no post's but your own? That helps your argument.

I am not going to say that The Ban Game and Count To 50 are intelligent games, because they're not. Orignally, I was against all of them.

Zero, Werewolf is not the only "intelligent" game on the forum. It really isn't.

Im not against this anymore, but don't leave just Werewolf when there are plenty of other good game around.

I actually like having a few "Werewolf Clones" hanging around just for the reason not everybody gets to join one and these games take so long to finish.

@darkvoid57 He only said by default. It doesn't mean non-werewolf games in general suck. Some still do have merit but he won't list them all because that's just impractical.

I just said that. RPGs can be very intelligent when they are well run. WErewolf style games lend themselves to being intelligent, but RPGs can be very fun and enjoyable as well. With a good moderator, I can see RPGs being fantastically worthwhile.

So you're implying that members are incapable of running good RPs?

You can post it here if you want. But just so you know, groups aren't really going away. For the most part you will still be able to discuss things you want in Off-Topic, and you won't have the regulations like the groups forum has.
k here i go
There's probably more reasons besides this, but these are the only ones I remember right now.

The brutal truth: Not everyone who comes here likes Pokemon all that much, and some actually get turned off it by immature members of the fanbase. I do understand that threads in the Misc forum can bring them together as much as Groups can, but with Misc threads, there really isn't as much opportunity or freedom as there would be in a Group thread. In Misc threads you're inviting everybody - in Group threads you're inviting only a select few. As a result, the rest would have to dumb it down for the newbies.
As an example...I know that there's a Group about Magic: The Gathering as well as a Misc thread. With the Misc thread you could field simple questions to new players as well as try to ease them in. With a Group thread you have the opportunity to tell people about tournaments, plan new strategies, stuff like that.
Shortly said: You have more opportunity in a Group thread than you would in a Misc thread. After seeing a situation like that with my own eyes (The Writer's Haven vs. The Writer's Lounge), I can attest to that myself. And because you're only inviting a select crowd, you can afford to have substantially better discussions in a Group than in a regular Misc thread.

And who said extra regulations are a bad thing? It weeds out the newbies.

@ Capt. Mongoose: That is what I am aiming for. A return to being devoted to our TCG and VG programs, not forum games, complicated discussion threads, barely active shops and the like.

For the sake of TCG discussion, I think you should keep Team Typhoon, and Team Rouge.

Maybe, move them to TCG News and Discussion?

All of the groups are. Hopefully they can be moved to TCG News and Discussion though.

An announcement regarding TCG teams will be coming later this week. Stay tuned.

I have a proposal...

What if, in a subforum of some-sort, you had a place for RPG's, but they had to be approved before they show up?

This way, you are able to monitor which RPG's are currently available to "play", and you wouldn't have to worry about spammy games such as count to 50, ylyl, etc.

SR / other mods, would there be a problem with that?

Wow, how did I miss this? RPG's/The Challenge/YLYL can stay. Everything else should go. Nuff said. And we're basically going to be losing some of the most popular parts of the forum, so I expect to see a couple of people becoming really inactive.

@Pokemon99: We tried that before and it didn't work well. Also, an issue is having mods constantly working to approve/mod games.

Appoint a few willing people to do it for you.
You don't have to deal with a vapid task, and the people you appoint will be willing to do that work for you anyway to make the Game Corner better.

Problem. Solved.

It hasn't started yet. I just started it.

Plus, I haven't found the reason. If you give us the reason why the GC should go away, I'll stop arguing.

The game corner goes away because it's filled with stupid and spammy posts, although some RPG's are enjoyable. Just check the most recent page of the ban game/count to 50. If you feel like posting the number 5 is that important to forum health and discussion, then by all means, keep arguing.

wait a minute! are they cancelling all games PERMANENTLY!! that's the only reason i usually post here! i mean, will they at least move the games somewhere else, or just delete all the forever?
