Pokemon Interesting Pokémon Facts

- Due to Team Rocket's Meowth learning to walk and talk, he is unable to learn any new moves. (Not quite sure how that works....)
It only affected his ability to learn Pay Day. When Team Rocket asked Meowth why he doesn't just use Pay Day to spawn them jillions of money, he explained that he lost the ability to learn it due to spending so much effort learning the human language.

- If there was a Pokemon that had every single type, its only weakness would be Rock.

- Munna was referenced in Red and Blue over a decade before Black and White were released. In those games, a female NPC says "The Pokemon here are so chunky! There should be a pink one with a floral pattern!". She wanted a pink, floral Pokemon, and her wish came true.

- The term "Shiny Pokemon" was never officially used by Game Freak until the episode "Dealing With a Fierce Double Ditto Drama!", and was only a fan term up until that point. Even then, it was never used in-game until Black 2 and White 2.

- The swirl on Poliwag's stomach is actually its internal organs. Gross.

- In Pokemon Puzzle League, you can unlock a battle with Mewtwo by using the code "B-Up-L-B-A-Start-A-Up-R". The code spells out "BULBASAUR", not counting the extra letters in "Up" and "Start".

- Slowbro is the only Pokemon that can de-evolve. Its Pokedex entry says that if the Shellder on its tail is removed, it will revert back into a Slowpoke.

- Stantler and Spiritomb were originally named "Scaribou" and "Phantomb".

- Speaking of changed names, the player characters from X and Y, Calem and Serena, were originally called Xavier and Yvonne, referencing the title of the games.

- The move "Splash” is a mistranslation of the Japanese word “hop”, which is why it’s a Normal-type move and not Water-type.

- Some cities in the Pokemon world are too small to even be considered hamlets, let alone cities and towns.

- A trailer of Pokemon X and Y from E3 2013 shows a Gardevoir using Fairy Wind, although it is unable to learn that move in the final game.

- In Pokémon Stadium, when the player uploads a Pikachu from Yellow, it will be voiced by Ikue Ohtani and have unique sound effects. Likewise, if a Pikachu or Raichu that knows Surf is used, it will have a unique attack animation. This animation also occurs in Pokémon XD and Pokémon Battle Revolution.

- An Easter egg can be found in Super Smash Bros. Brawl while the player is playing in Pokémon Stadium 2 stage when the stage is in Ice Mode. If the player angles the camera and looks through the window of the cabin that Snorunt is in, a poster of a pet cat can be seen on the wall.

Azurill is the only Pokemon that can change it's gender when evolving. When evolving into Marill, Azurill has a 1 in 4 chance of switching genders.

Also, does anyone know of any pokemon that a specifically said to be color-blind? Thanks!

- Daniel Radcliffe, the actor who played Harry Potter, is a fan of Pokemon.

- Aside from the theme song, the first time Mewtwo appears in the anime is in episode 13, where it is seen on the door of Bill's lighthouse, hinting that Bill knows about Mewtwo. Bill even outright claims that there are over 150 Pokemon, once again hinting that he is aware of Mewtwo's existence.

- Ditto has been officially confirmed as not being a failed clone of Mew.

- In the season 2 theme song, many characters from the previous season appear in one scene. These include AJ, Samurai, Giselle, Duplica, Mandi, and Jeanette Fisher, more. Oddly enough, all of the characters I mentioned each only appear in one episode, and never appear again (aside from Duplica.)

- Mr. Mime can be female.

- The maximum amount of points you can recieve for a picture in Pokemon Snap is 17,378,000.

- Any Unown can be caught with a 100% chance if a Dusk Ball is used. This is due to its low catch rate and the fact that it is only found in caves.

- The word "Mew" was copyrighted in 1990, even before "Pokemon" was.

- There are X items in the coding of the games that can raise your Pokemon's stats by 2, 3, and 6 stages.

- According to the anime, Spearow can only see in black and white.

This is either not exactly true or your wording is just misleading. Your own Pokemon that you evolve will never change genders, but wild Azurill and Marill have different male to female ratios. This is clearly just something GF didn't think too hard about, but if we're trying to apply real world logic to Pokemon games, there are probably more deaths/captures before evolution or fewer evolutions from whatever gender it is that has a smaller ratio after evolution.

Those are used in VS Battles, as long as the Wonder Launcher is enabled.

In Ruby, Sapphire, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire, there is a rematchable Young Couple by the name of Lois and Hal. This is either a reference to the parents in Malcolm in the Middle or a weird coincidence.

- Burmy have been shown without a cloak in both the manga and anime. In both instances the cloak dropped was the Plant cloak.

- It is thought that the pink Butterfree Ash's Butterfree fell for in the episode "Bye-Bye Butterfree", is from Pinkan Island, an island featured in the episode "In the Pink" where all Pokemon are coloured pink due to a berry.

- In the anime special "Snorlax Snowman", several Snorlaxes were shown to have adapted to a colder climate, turning light blue, instead of their usual colour.

- Gligar, Murkrow, Combee and Golbat are some of the Pokemon that have gender differences, however their evolutions do not

- Shedinja is the only Pokémon to have a lower base stat total than its pre-evolution.

- Shedinja has the lowest base stat total of any fully evolved Pokémon.

- Shedinja inherits the same personality value, IVs, EVs, OT and ID number as the Nincada that shed it. Among other things, due to retaining personality value, if the Nincada was Shiny, Shedinja will be Shiny as well.

- Shedinja is the only genderless Pokémon that can learn moves through breeding.

- If the Nincada that a Shedinja evolved from has Pokérus, the Shedinja will have it as well.

- Shedinja is the only Pokémon to have a stat not calculated by the standard formula. If it were, Shedinja would have at least 11 HP, even at level 1 with an HP IV of 0 and no HP EVs.

- Despite Shedinja being able to learn Substitute and Rest, they will always fail. However, Shedinja can receive another Pokémon's substitute through Baton Pass.

- Shedinja's Defense and Special Defense stats have no purpose in battle, as any damage will invariably cause Shedinja to faint.

- If a Shedinja were to use Pain Split, it would cut the target's HP in half, similarly to Super Fang.

- If a Shedinja were to use Endeavor, it would always reduce the opponent's HP to 1.

1. Only applies up to 5th gen.
2. They're called Xavier and Yvonne in Pokémon Adventures Manga.

Also, it's 1 in 3 chance of a gender switch to male.

You forgot that Shedinja has a different Egg Group to the other Pokémon in its line.

I wish that the Ralts line would do this with Gallade, as he doesn't really belong in the Amorphous Egg Group.

Implying that Gardevoir belongs there.

Man, that's getting even more twisted than it already is.
Ralts, Kirlia and Gardevoir should be Amorphous and Fairy, while Gallade should be in Human-Like.
I think the only reason why they're in Amorphous, is because most of the Ralts line is feminine, but can be either gender. Gallade on the other hand is 100% male, so having it in Amorphous makes no sense.

Someone has already posted a fact about how Shuckle can do the most damage in a single attack. However, that was how much damage it could do in Generation 5. In Generation 6, it can do even more damage!

A level 100 Shuckle can potentially deal the most damage in one single attack through the use of numerous stat boosters; by having a maximum Defense stat, receiving the effects of Helping Hand from two allies in a triple battle, holding a Metronome, Power Trick, a Skill Swap to Pure Power, a conversion to Ice, and 6 stages of positive Attack stat changes. Also, both of Shuckle's partners must have the Ability Flower Gift and the weather must be sunny. On the 5th turn of using a Defense Curl-boosted Ice Ball (learned via Mimic) consecutively without any misses, if used against a level 1 Noibat with a minimum Defense stat, that has 6 stages of negative Defense stat changes, and being under the effect of Forest's Curse it can deal 721,899,685 damage with a critical hit.

720 million damage!!! Back in Generation 5, it could only do 480 million!

When Yellow in adventures hatched an egg bred by 2 Pikachus, a new species entirely came out of the egg. She decided to name the new species Pichu because it was the child of PIka and CHUchu, her 2 Pikachu.

Fantina and Lt. Surge are the only 2 characters that hail from outside the Pokémon world. Lt. Surge is from the U.S [The lightning American] and Fantina's home country speaks french.

There hasn't been a stage 2 Gengar card printed since Gengar prime.

Sylveon is the only evolution of Eevee that has never been below the OU tier.

There are more ice types in PU [The lowest tier] than all higher tiers combined, with 11 in PU and 6 in the higher tiers.

Togepi was the first Pokémon to make its debut appearance in any Pokémon media in the Anime. Bpnsly, Munchlax, and Lucario would follow this trend.

Red has the highest levels out of any NPC trainer in Pokémon. Despite this, Cynthia is considered to be the most difficult battle in the series by many, due to Garchomp, as well as most of her Pokémon having insane coverage moves [Shadow Ball Lucario, Silver Wind Spiritomb, etc.] As well as Spiritomb, which had no weakness.

To emphasize her power, in diamond and Pearl, out of her six pokemon [24 attacks] only 2 of them are non-damaging move.

However, one of them, Mirror Coat, can potentially do more damage than any other one of her Milotic's attacks.

Cynthia is also the only NPC that isn't a rival to recieve a Pokédex.

Cynthia is also the champion that has appeared in the most episodes of the anime, as well as the first Female champion.

If ash's travel companions Misty, Brock, Clemont, Iris, and Cilan aren't counted, Fantina, Clair, and Korrina have appeared in more episodes than any other Gym Leader.

I haven't watched the Anime in forever, so my list isn't complete, but...

Ho-oh wasn't a Pokémon when it was first shown in the anime.

Mega Evolution!

-Kalos and Hoenn have differing legends about the first Mega Evolved Pokémon (Lucario in Kalos, Rayquaza in Hoenn).

-Mega Evolution does not take into account a different Speed stat, or a Speed-increasing Ability like Swift Swim, for the turn that the Pokémon Mega Evolves (I learned this the hard way).

-It's widely known that you can't Mega Evolve two Pokémon in a battle, but this rule also applies to the same Pokémon. If, say, your Mega Blastoise faints, and you use a Revive, it will have gone back to its non-Mega state and you can't Mega Evolve it again for the rest of that battle (learned this one the hard way, too).

-In SSB4, Charizard and Mewtwo (plus Lucario, but that's irrelevant) can both Mega Evolve with the effect of their Final Smash. Charizard gets its X Mega Evolution, and Mewtwo gets Y.

-Numerous Pokémon in the anime are capable of Mega Evolution without a Mega Stone/Key Stone, and some don't even have a Trainer. These include the Mewtwo from Genesect and the Legend Awakened and Meyer's Blaziken (and also I think the Diancie from Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction, but from what I've heard, it formed a diamond that somehow acted as its Mega Stone).

-Aggron is the only Mega Evolution to lose a type when it Mega Evolves.

-There are no version-exclusive Mega Stones in ORAS. However, the Diancite is still only available through fateful encounter.

-Mewtwonite X is found where you begin your journey (Littleroot Town), and Mewtwonite Y is found where you end it (Pokémon League).

Right! I never saw the last two Origins episodes, so I completely forgot about it as Red never had his Charizard wear the Mega Stone in any of the pictures I've seen.
