Internet Piracy

Probably nothing new, however Capcom has confirmed that it supports SOPA:

http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/capcom-confirms-support-for-sopa/

This isn't surprising considering that there's a laundry list of other gaming companies like Capcom that support SOPA. As a matter of fact why don't they support the OPEN Act instead? It's less dangerous and draconian than SOPA is.

1) If it was legalized, nothing would be private. That kills everything that makes the US great. Its just not freedom.

2) Yes, It would get out of control, with them getting complete control greed will take over and I can guarantee that the web will be taken advantage of one way or another and with that of course, changes the US. Changes why this is the "best" Nation.

If you really want to get technical, pokemon cards are copyrighted, and there are defiantly scans of them on the main page, which i doubt WPM has permission to use. Leaking set information early isn't exactly a good thing to do either.

With these economic problems, people will do anything to get that money. I agree that pokemon cards are copyrighted and that any site including eBay sellers might be accountable ANYTIME for having a SINGLE item.

Well since my stepdad works directly with the U.S. Government where he ships prisoners from different countries around the world, I already notified him of this so I believe that he already contacted my local U.S. Representative by now. I also already notified some other friends of mine about this as well, the only thing we can do is spread the word and hopefully something will be done.

You do realize that you're in favor of the U.S. Government blacklisting websites like this one right? The SOPA bill is so broad and so vague that IT WILL CRIPPLE THE INNER WORKINGS OF THE INTERNET! You're one of those fools that wants society to be the way it was in the 80's and 90's, back when we didn't have Internet. Back where we were limited to what content we could watch via Television and now with the Internet already in place we can choose what we want to listen to and watch.

Did you know that any website that has foreign servers that you can already now use has the potential to be blacklisted from the U.S. Government If SOPA passes? Serebii.net's server is from the U.K. and according to the Government we can't have Americans surfing through websites with British Servers now do we? What about Website Servers from other countries like Japan where WPM gets some of his Pokemon info from, the U.S. Government would be able to blacklist those sites as well.

With the way SOPA is watered down, EVERY WEBSITE THAT EVERY AMERICAN IS ALREADY ABLE TO USE WILL BE REGION LOCKED. The Pokemon franchise would die in the U.S. If the Government gets their way with SOPA and much more, this also effects the Video Game Industry in the way they distribute content for their games. People won't be able to know what game is good or not cause those sites would probably already be blacklisted by the Government. So instead that helps the Video Game Magazine Industry where we waste more ink and paper with content that tells us what's good and what's bad, not saying that the Magazine Industry is bad but hopefully you know what I mean.

The next House Judiciary Committee vote on SOPA will be held next Wednesday on December 21st, they aren't going to wait after the Holidays they want this thing passed pronto. That still gives us time to petition against this bill, of course Zyflair is in favor of wanting PokeBeach to get shutdown by the Government because WPM is using content from Japanese Servers to get info that we need to know about the Pokemon Universe. So yeah like I said If SOPA passes then you can kiss Pokemon and everything you love about the Internet goodbye.

I've read the entire thing and agree with you completely. I strongly think its just a way to "try" to get the economy back on track but really we the people gain nothing and they gain everything and more authority. The entire internet is one source based off another, if they go crazy, they can really destroy EVERYTHING.

America is supposed to work for EVERYBODY, not the people who gain more authority and everything from the rest of us everyday Americans. I've posted all these links specifically to raise awareness about this problem and to save the very livelihood of the Internet as we know it.

I mean what does the U.S. Government gain by blacklisting websites at their leisure? Are they that paranoid about foreign countries stealing information from various websites in the U.S. regardless If they have foreign servers because of how 9/11 has put the U.S. Government on alert so high that they are starting to become the very tyrants that our founding fathers warned us about?

They think it will help get the Economy back on track but it would destroy Online Businesses, the Video Game Industry, Social Media Websites like YouTube, Online Television/Movies, and much more. I'm all for trying to fix the Economy but tampering with already existing Internet laws like the FAIR USE Act of 2007, the DMCA
(Digital Millennium Copyright Act), and Constitutional rights of every American citizen is uncalled for.

Here's a tip, If you don't want information leaked out onto the Internet there's a thing called books and classified written documents. Heck the Vatican in Rome is already way ahead on the U.S. Government in terms of Information Security, they don't leak important information on the Internet like the U.S. Government has been doing they have it all written out and sealed until declassification.

At least now you know why Internet Hackers have difficulty obtaining secret information from the Vatican. All their stuff is written out and kept for safe keeping while the U.S. blatantly puts their stuff on the Internet just waiting for some group of people like with WikiLeaks and Julian Assange to go and hack the stuff. It's common sense and you'd think the U.S. Government would know by now.

The main reason why nobody is talking about SOPA and PIPA? It's because News Networks like CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC that are in support of SOPA and PIPA are ignoring it:

http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20120108/00533117331/study-confirms-news-networks-owned-sopa-supporters-are-ignoring-sopapipa.shtml

Oh and here's another interesting article:

http://techcrunch.com/2012/01/09/nosopaorpipa/

Also Google, YouTube, eBay, and other Online Sites are considering the "Nuclear Option" in protest against SOPA:

As for the Senate vote on SOPA it is scheduled for Jan. 23 or the 24, either one of those two dates at least according to the sources I've read regarding this.
