Is It Just Me or is HS Undaunted not a very good expansion?

I feel sorry for you Card Slinger J. All these people are a little delerious. I have to agree with you that only like 3-5 cards from this set will be decent and even then I'm not sure how good they'll be.

Ugh, just because you don't think a card can't be all "metagame material" doesn't mean there's nothing worth playing. I don't think we're the only ones a bit messed up on PokeBeach.

Theres good cards just not a hole lot.....but the next set affter undaunted will be off the hock so it make up for it.

Which cards from this set will actually be played? Not the ones that'll be attempted and most likely fail but that'll be played almost everywhere? If you can convince me on 10 cards from this set (not including evolution lines like the Oddish and Gloom for Vileplume) then I'll simply give up and state that I agree.

Wait until the scans pop up and I will give you 10 cards easily. Does each half of a Legend count as one card?

There are a few cards that will most likely shift the metagame. And there are some that are playable but not going to be meta-shifting. Overall its a decent set, I like that there isnt 150 cards with 2/3rds of the rares being little promo things like in SV. Its a nice small set with some decently playable stuff and a few good cards.

You also have to rember this will be our BR set and we will already have to be re-forming our engines to makeup for some losses such as Claydol. We also will have a really huge meta-shifting set IMO in our CC set as we will probably get CATs and LL which both have really good cards.

Also don't forget that people were talking about stuff like this about Unleashed before nationals. It wasn't one of the greatest sets ever realesed but looking back on the Meta-Game of BRs, Nationals and looking foward towards Worlds I can say that a set that people complained about being a worthless filler set right before nationals really did shift the metagame a good bit. So Don't be so quick to count your sheep, or Pokemon in this case. Just let the meta decide on its own if Undaunted is a good set or not.

Also PikachewTofu, it doesnt matter if they count as 2, both of them are worhtless.

From what I have seen so far I think the set is going to be pritty fun and mostly playable

Yes. I totally agree. Don't count your Mareep too fast by the way.

I'm going to say yes only because there is no way you can convince me that these two legends (Rayquaza/Deoxys and Kyogre/Groudon) are actually good. Both take way too many energy to use (3-4 depending on if KG has a DCE), both have terrible weaknesses for this metagame as is, I have yet to see a legend being used as a tech (succesfully) if it takes more than 2 energy (and those that use some as decks are usually just fun and don't serve too much of competitive play).

Oh it is DEFINITELY not you by a longshot. I hate this set. Like 99% percent. Because the only good card I sincerely like in it is Energy Exchange Unit. There is a lot of nonplayable stuff in here. That's not to say that it is all crappy. It just means that if you like to play for fun, this is the set for you.

Rember when Rising Rivals came out and everyone thought Luxray GL was trash? I bought one at the PR or $10 beacuse it was not hyped and wasnt going to be good according to everyone.

Then when Supreme Victors came out, Garchomp C was looked at. but most people put it aside for Blaziken FB.

So what I'm saying is most of the truly good stuff as of late hasn't been that OMG thats amazing card when you first see it. Some have but alot of cards have been the middle of the road decent cards but then when people started testing with some of these cards they began to realize how good some of it was. Just start playing with some of these ideas and see where it takes you and your opionion of the set beacuse you truly can't judge a set until after the tournment cycle that the set came out for.

I'd rather not burn tons of money trying to get the next "Luxray GL Lv.X" of which we don't even know if a super good card is coming. Unleashed wasn't terribly groundbreaking except for Kingdra Prime, and even then, not as much.

Are you out of your mind?

Ttar

Kingdra

Judge

Rare Candy

Super Scoop Up

ERL

I would be willing to bet that 95% of US national Decks had at least one of these cards in them.

Rare Candy and SSU don't count. They're old cards reprinted. Judge will be less used IMO come next season. I don't think T-Tar is very good IMO (but I know my friend would constantly disagree as he's already been done). And I don't like all the Legends personally. I always seem to give KOs as well from Uxies on the Bench anway.

1. Umbreon (Normal)
Very good tech card, especially against Donphan as they will have nothing to hurt it besides Vibrava in the Flyphan variant

2. Espeon Prime
A must have for any Eeveelution deck

3. Combee
makes for a good donker

4 Vileplume
Trainer lock, nuff said

5. Weavile
adds further disruption for Sablelock

6. Team Rocket's Handy work
Again more hand disruption for Sablelock

7. Skarmory
Immensely helps Steelix Prime set up special metal energy

8. Energy Exchange Unit
Makes Luxchomp even more broken as they can now search for DCE

It may not be full of powerful cards but this set has amazing tech cards that help power up stuff in our current format. I think Legend Box and the Legends in this set are garbage though.

Wait until this December and Umbreon will be $30. I'm also going to run a Legends-based deck and Legend Box, Bebe's, and Luxury Ball will help tremendously.

What makes you think Umbreon will possibly get to 30 dollars? What decks will it be used against?
vs SPs: They just attack with the regular forms of themselves. A Luxray GL can hit for 70+2 Crobat drops means a KO. A Garchomp C can hit you for 50 twice or 30, then 50+Bat. Dialga G just needs 2 damage counters on you to score the OHKO. SPs can also snipe around and move you around.
vs Donphan: All they have to do is play Warp Point and Poekmon Reversals to get around Umbreon's attack effect. Or if they run out of resources they'll attack with Phanpy. They EQ a few times to damage Phanpy a bit and then score a OHKO on you with Flail.
vs Gyarados (if people actually play this): 90 dead.
vs Machamp: Take Out=80 (almost a KO). Hurricane Punch (2 heads average)=120 (KO).

With each set in this HS era, I personally think it gets better with each set. This set might not be as good as Unleashed and the base set, but it has some good tech cards that will further power current decks. But I think the next set(CATS+LL) is going to be the metagame shift. IMO.

Umbreon won't be $30...it comes in a structure deck. All it will be is a good 1-1 tech card in decks using Dark Pokemon in order to stall for a bit while they try to play around it.

Nobody thought Luxray GL Lv. X would be popular. Now it's like a $60 card. I've never played one deck on that list, meaning they either aren't popular on planet normal, or people at my League are creative unlike people who copy decks from Worlds. I'm leaning on the second option.
