What I find issue about PikaMasterJesi right now isn't that she forgot to scumhunt (or whatever that entails), it's that she lied about something and is admitting to it. Somehow I find that discomforting because it means she doesn't have second thoughts about lying to us, and doesn't that make hard to trust any of her future posts and claims?

Still, while that is a scummy thing, it doesn't automatically mean Jesi's scum, for me. I'd need more corroborating evidence and ain't going to lynch someone on just one point of scumminess. However, if she keeps on going at this rate, she's just digging herself deeper in a hole.

For now, ##VOTE: Keeper of Night

So he's been told by someone. Who could this be?
@ExcalAura4D , I'm tagging you so you know D1 has started.
So I've been told I should contribute
Isn't tagging kinda like telling someone to come and see things? Maybe react to that? I think Excal only reacted to that. And that makes Jesi a liar by saying, who could this be?
Yeah, please stop using EBWOP. It wasn't added to the mafia terminology thread for a reason: it's ugly and pointless. Just type edit, which is literally the first word of that acronym, and less letters.

Excal might have slipped, yeah. Probably not, it's his first game and he's inexperienced. However, quaking was overly pushy and bandwagony when he actually voted for Jesi way early on in the game:

This is dumb and was riding off the pressure from Camo. Jesi didn't ask how to scumhunt, she asked what method we should use to scumhunt from here. Quaking changed what she said, and this resulted in even Jesi being confused when Vom rode on quaking's reasoning. I think quaking was trying to ride off Camo's authority and build up momentum for him to use later in the day, which was indeed correct speculation when he made this ISO:

Jesi already explained why she was confused, and it's easy to empathise with her logic. Quaking was forward with his post and phrased it like TFP was a definitive target, which isn't what occurs in RVS. Therefore, her confusion was entirely understandable, and I think both she and I read quaking's post with the same tone, the only difference in reactions was a result of experience.

Jesi's "lying", uhh, wasn't that. She never said she couldn't scuhunt, nor that she didn't know how to. She said that she didn't know what methods should be used to go about scumhunting in this circumstance, which considering her only experience with D1 RVS in a town vs mafia setting was her first game, is totally logical. She's played 2 games guys. Most of these players are closer to 2 years, so we still need to cut her some slack! This is also only her second town vs mafia because Splatoon was off-piste.

And EM being scum in that game would explain why Jesi thought you were making a legit case. After all, similar logic had worked before, right?

##UNVOTE ##VOTE: quakingpunch73. You are reaching and you are riding off of the pressure of Camo, which is overly manipulative for a townie.
@quakingpunch73 Don't have time to defend yourself? It seems like you are just ignoring that post?

There isn't too much to say about Celever's post. Whether or not Jesi lied depends on your opinion. Personally, I read her as scum, but you and Celever could have different opinions.

I'm basically just going to echo everyone's thoughts so far. Nothing big has caught my eye but I haven't read in extreme detail yet.
2) I might have lied, but I can tell you it wasn't intentional.
This is bad.

So I've been told I should contribute but I don't really want to vote on Day 1, I guess, so I'm going to go ahead and do exactly that.

Apparently I should comment on the state of the game too? I mean, I'm not actively following it, so I don't have much to say.
Like others have pointed out this seems like a slip. He admits he isn't really paying attention which normally triggers me but his tone leads me to believe he is being genuine.

I missed someone saying that you should contribute. Who said that?

So he's been told by someone. Who could this be? Considering the flavour of this game, I'd like to guess that'd most likely be the scum team. I don't see why with a game like this there would be any masons or lovers (and even with that, the only pair I can think of would be Mark and Mint, which makes no sense as the scum clear a townie), so I think this is a slip. And yes, I understand this is a new player, but I think this is a huge mistake that's been made.

Jesi is just echoing everyone's opinions. I really dislike how Jesi uses this like a blog. While it's not out of character it's not pro-town.

Thing is, people didn't want to vote you until you started making posts, because of the way you're presenting yourself as a player. It's okay to ask questions if you don't understand everything. And if you really don't want to play (since I'm getting a heavy vibe of "Get me outta here"), just ask PMJ to sub out.
This sticks out to me. I'll post more on this after I have more free time and am able to read back.

EBWOP: People haven't started voting you, but you're placing a lot of suspicion on yourself, which isn't the greatest thing to have as a new player.
^

Excal might have slipped, yeah. Probably not, it's his first game and he's inexperienced.
So you think that he is less likely to slip because he is new?

Answer the question please.

Ok, so this probably isn't anything and a bit of a stretch, but here I go: in this post, morda quotes a couple of posts, including the one where Jesi tags Excal to let them know D1 started. So, fsr I start to wonder, why does Jesi tag Excal, of all people? I thought it was because Excal hadn't liked PMJ's post (and still hasn't, ftr) but if that were the case Jesi would have told Excal exactly that, to go like PMJ's post.
So, it must be some other reason, so probably the fact they hadn't posted. And there's nothing wrong with that, except that at that point in time there were also other people to call out, and iirc Excal wasn't viewing the thread, so it wasn't a 'you're reading this so come talk' post. Jesi wanted Excal to come on the site and start posting. Again, nothing wrong with that, but with doubts about both of those players, my paranoid self couldn't help but make some theory about it. Again, probably nothing but me overthinking things, but I think it could be plausible enough to help later in the game should the need arise.

@ExcalAura4D , I'm tagging you so you know D1 has started.
Here's where Jesi tags Excal out of nowhere.

Here's where Excal says they've been told to contribute and comment on the state of the game, and ftr still hasn't answered our questions on that. We've been over this post already, so it doesn't really need more explaining.
I missed someone saying that you should contribute. Who said that?
Here's bb picking up on that fact and asking Excal who said they should contribute. Here is where I say a QT partner must have told Excal about that, but it's still without an actual answer.

Here is Jesi saying basically the same thing as bb in the other post.

So, taking into account those posts, here is my kind of stretched theory:
  • There's chitchat in the scum chat, and since there are new players in it, the more experienced ones coach them a little. For example, telling them to be active and contribute.
  • Jesi sticks to that, and seeing as how Excal isn't posting or viewing the thread, she tags him.
  • Excal tries to stick to the plan but slips, saying he's been told to contribute. Then, when questioned about it by bb and I, he ignores the question and is sarcastic about it, respectively. I'm still really bugged about this.
  • Seeing as how her partner is getting in trouble, Jesi repeats what bb says in an effort to get some town cred should we find out Excal is scum.
  • That's p much it.
Not a strong theory, falls apart if either of them are town, but I think it's worth a [Future Reference] tag in case either of the is lynched in the future and turns out to be scum.

All right, so here's the thing. Jesi and Excal know each other IRL. I feel like it's plausible to assume that Jesi would tag Excal for no other reason than the fact that he's a friend of hers, and she wants him to come play the game.

Excal saying that he's been "told to contribute" could also have something to do with it. I could see Jesi and/or TGK giving him a primer of sorts on Mafia before the game started, suggesting that he contribute as much as possible. The only flaw in that, however, is that Jesi doesn't seem to know who told him to contribute. Either I'm wrong about Jesi telling Excal about the game, or she scumslipped. And if I'm wrong, Excal's either a mason, neighbor, or scum.

Jesi's flip gives us more information, I think.

Why are you supplying them with potential excuses without waiting to hear what he has to say first?

Sure, but there are more efficient ways of telling someone the game started than tagging them in the thread if you know them irl.

I'm just making sure everyone has all their facts straight. It's a pretty poor excuse, and still condemns one or both of them, so I can't think why they would defend themselves with it.

Not necessarily––all that discussion, where Jesi tagged Excal, took place at a rather late hour of the night for their (and my) timezone. I would say tagging him was more efficient than telling him, in this case.

I only see him on weekends when there's league, so I can't quite just tell him IRL when we live not very close to each other.

I'll comment on the other posts when I get home, since I'm out and about right now.

Just as soon as you stop using ICNCND :>
I want to like this post so badly.

My issue with the "So I've been told" line isn't that it happened, but rather Jesi's extreme reaction to it. It's the kind of thing that I think would've gone by unnoticed had Jesi not immediately called attention to it as just a strange way of wording things. This is, I feel, Jesi trying to find any excuse to take heat off herself. We haven't seen Jesi as scum yet, so we don't know her scum meta.

Jesi's the better vote for today, get off Excal.

Jesi was the third person to comment on this. You make it sound like she started the wagon.

yeah, you're right. Vom told him he didn't have to vote to contribute first, then bb asked him who told him to contribute, and then Jesi stated it was a scumslip and voted him, starting the wagon.

Don't forget the post where Vom says he most likely was told by a QT partner.

Here's the posts I was referring to.
You don't have to vote in order to contribute, just sharing your thoughts and stuff is good. Also, yes, apparently you should. If you're playing, whether you're active or not, you should follow or at the very least have some general idea of what's going on.
Vom makes no comment on it.
I missed someone saying that you should contribute. Who said that?
bb asks him.
Working on that now, in this post. In fact, it's right below.

Hmm... This is definitely an interesting post. This is by far the most interesting part of it:

I don't want to die on Cycle 1 again. I'm not happy with my own lynch at all, actually. I'd much rather it be someone else.
Jesi calls it out as a scumslip and votes him.

Okay, first of all, I'm now supposed to like a post? I thought that was against the rules for whatever reason.

And actually, the whole reason why I slipped and said I was told to contribute was due to Jesi tagging me, and still not understanding the rules, I asked her what I'm supposed to do, since she said I should contribute to someone, and vote for someone.
I've pretty much just been reading posts and kind of aiming for whoever has the most "suspicion" because that's just what other people are doing.

To be honest, I don't actually know what I was thinking, I guess? Apparently being sarcastic (which wasn't even meant) was a bad play, and you can notice that if you have any experience at all in this game, I think. So why would I do that? Because I'm completely clueless.

There, hopefully that clears things up?
PMJ wants everyone to like this post.

Quick question though, it's still a possibility to lie to answer questions and stuff, right? Or can I not even bother to answer them? Feels like it gives away more.

Then again, it seems like if you do one simple thing, half the forum points guns at your head.
If you don't answer our questions, then you're scum.
