Wanted the text to be the focal but thought that the ribbon looked nice so I blurred it a bit to draw the attention to the text

I think he's talking about the first three lights (notably the first red one). I have no idea what you did to make them look so strange. o_O

Comments?

And does anyone think I out to much C4D's or does it look okay on the second banner below?

The C4D spam is super-meh. Next time, place them so they contribute to the flow of the render. The text placement is okay, I guess. Amphy's hat is shop'd on quite badly (it isn't proportionate). I also think you used a soft brush to render Amphy. That's a no-no unless you can mask it by blending it with the background. ;D

Oh, look at me. I'm criticizing your guys' work and I'm not technically even a member. :p

EDIT: You did much better with the C4D usage in the Swampert sig. Good job. Slice a few pixels off your border width (it doesn't look extremely bad on this sig though), and nudge the text over a few pixels.

Welcome to our newest member SPM3, a Photoshop CS3 who I have known for a long time. He is an experienced user of Photoshop and here at PokeBeach. I'm sure he'll feel at home here.

I see he's already introduced himself ^_^

That's CS5. Yes, it exists. And no, I didn't pay 600 bucks for it. ^^;

And since I'm now officially a member, I feel that I can post this.

My result for Gliscor's Smudge Tutorial. And I totally didn't use Gliscor on purpose. *shifty eyes*

Here's the render: http://www.zerochan.net/src/zerochan.Gliscor.361679.jpg

The text is meh. :/

C+C please? :D

@SPM3's Tag
This tag looks pretty decent. I like that text because it doesn't drag too much attention away but look still rather nice. The splatter look pretty cool. I think that the sides are too dark and they don't seem very appealing. The lighting also seems a tad too strong. The render itself looks rather lq so obviously with a lq render it ends up with a lq tag because of that. So yeah with a small changes in could be a lot better IMO.

@SPM3
Loving your tag. I think I got a new personal favourite. I can't really see the text properly though. The "r" seems to be messed up.
Nevertheless great work.

Anyways, you overdid the lighting. Around the edges as Josh said, it gets too dark. Where the light source is coming from, it's too bright. Lowering the opacity/deleting layers should help. The splatter brush is great, however, and I'm wondering where you got them. Care to share?

Good thing I saved it as a PSD. I shall fix the lighting. ^^;

I do not know where I got them (the Splatter brushes), and I don't remember the brush pack name. Oops. D:

I'll try something. I may be able to track down those brushes. It will take awhile though.

EDIT: Fixed the lighting and improved the text.*Edit* Actually, I really don't think I improved it now that I see them side by side. Oh, well.

Here's some good Splatter brushes.

I wish someone else would post so I could stop editing this...

Anyway, here's a simple logo I made.

Its OK, but Typhlosion is a little too bright and the bottom smudge is a little unnecessary.
I'll finally have access to my program tomorrow. I downloaded some cool brushes from Deviantart and I will finally be able to use them. Im going to try something new.

Also, where can I find C4D's?

- Planetrenders.com(You have to join to view information on C4D)
- Deviantart

Those are the website I go

There nothing to say SPM3. It is great! That is the only thing I say to your artwork. I think your artwork it fabulous. :)

@SPM3: Your composition is just kinda off. The piece just doesn't resonate with me, but I don't know why exactly. Though that one big splatter was bothering me, and the size of the canvas.

For the the little badge, the bg isn't very appealing, and the text itself is fine but the the light-dark contrast needs to be fixed.

@EPM: You should read a couple of tutorials on smudge to learn what exactly you are trying to achieve. You have the technique down but I don't think you understand exactly how you should be putting it into practice if you understand what I mean. I'm not a big fan of smudge but typically when you're using smugde by itself you want to make you bg a little more intricate.

@ EPM: What Lilsparks is true. A common thing made in most smudge sigs is that the whole signature looks very flat. The key to this is layers and depth. Make multiple smudge layers to make it look a bit more alive and mess with the opacities of the layers. And yeah I'm guessing you set the render on screen or linear dodge? Not necessarily something you want to be doing. Also the glow is something you definitely don't want to be doing on a smudge sig where blending is meant to be at its absolute best. The glow does the exact opposite in all cases.

If you want a really pro smudge tutorial PM me for it. (No it's not by me; notice the pro part :p.)
Also when you get the knack a common friend of smudge is clipping masks. Just remember to go one technique at a time X)

Edit: K guys really need some help here. I am in a big GFX team battle and the theme is movie/tv. I can't find a good stock to use! If anyone knows of any high quality stocks/renders that you think I can work with please tell me.

yeah seen them but none are exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks though. I may end up using one just having a very hard time finding a decent one.

And also quick reminder for those involved in the GFX Showdown. The deadline is fast approaching so make sure you get your entries in soon!
