The players. You guys spend so much time focusing on the clues the murderer leaves that you barely give a passing glance to the council clues, which is what you should really be thinking of because
they know who the murderer is.
I'll use the clues from the last game as an example:
"It's a type of meat they don't like to eat."
People caught on that this is obviously referring to Spam pretty quickly, which worried me, but then I realized that that in itself doesn't mean anything. The fact that Spam is pink, however, does - so is Gastrodon West Sea. It could also be referring to the fact that Gastrodon is gooey and probably would not be very tasty if eaten.
"George Washington took the Oregon Trail to look for ice cream"
I will admit that I have absolutely no idea what this could possibly mean. George Washington was an American president, and I live in America...? Oregon Trail is also American. Ice cream, uh... I like ice cream? :3 Yeah. I don't have any idea what this is. Whoever thought this up did a good job of confusing the heck out of everyone, especially me, since I should have been able to figure out how it's linked to me.
"The mediteranean train rumbled over the points to the left track with seven sleepers."
This was a really good clue, and if you guys had followed it, I would have been
screwed. It's referring to the fact that mammaluigi was on the right track (as opposed to left track) when he first accused me. The train reference was just something to connect the word track with. "Seven" is quite obviously a reference to my fanfic.
Fortunately for me, you guys spent so much time trying to decipher the clues I left at night that you barely paid any attention to the
real clues. \o/
Since the murderer isn't required to incriminate himself in the murder notes, they can't be trusted. That's basically what I did: Just throw out random things that I knew you guys would jump at (like type references or colors). The only real clue I gave was in the clue in which I mentioned "you already have it" at the end. Take the first letters from each of the three previous lines, then arrange them backwards. What do you get? Yeah, that's right. I just blew your mind.
Don't ignore the council of ghosts. I can't stress this enough. You guys ignored my clues in murder 4 and that's why Joey won. Don't do it again. Base all of your suggestions on the council's clue. Don't expect it to be a simple connection - the clues have to be vague to stop that from happening. But the connection is there. The murderer might incriminate himself in his own clue, but he can't be trusted to do that. Even if he does, the connection to him is going to be so completely vague that there is no possible way you'll guess that it's linked to him (using Joey's Scrabble clues as an example).
Now that my rant on how to win this game is done, the question remains, am I more valuable to the murderer alive or dead? Does he leave me alive to speculate with the rest, or does he kill me off, knowing that I will completely ruin him with my superb clue-giving skills? DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.
Remember this post, guys. Don't ignore the council of ghosts. No matter how vague the connection you make, there's a good chance you're either correct or on the right track.
