That's why I said "tentative". :p

I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but it sounds like mid-to-late September we may get our Season 3 premier.

Here you guys go, this is from somebody going by Cereal on EQD, but just in case you can't get there for whatever reason, here's what he has to say regarding the season and the break:
Well, that's it. Season two is over.

And what a ride it's been.

Season one set the bar high, and I don't think I was the only one just a little bit nervous about the concept of a second one. During that summer drought of no new episodes, many assumed that the fandom would decrease in size and perhaps die out all together. Against everyone's expectations, the pony train kept going forward at full steam, and accelerated beyond what anyone would have imagined. When the second season hit the airwaves, our unorthodox audience was more numerous and more enthusiastic than when the first season had ended.

We've had a lot of highs and a lot of lows during the airing of these twenty-six episodes, and I'd like to think that we ended on a high note yesterday. Perhaps not the perfect high note, but it's definitely up a few octaves.

I've heard through the grapevine that some members of DHX Media read these followups. I'm not going to spoil your report card before the break- but you guys got an A in my book. Bravo.

apparently there's an extended version of the third song in the finale out there that may be released eventually but Ingram has stated that it is out of his hands.

I'll put up a new poll tomorrow. I'm so sick right now I can't remember the one I was going to do.

This was a pretty good way to end the season

Cadence's "Aria" song was the best song during the Royal Wedding two-parter special. Probably the best Season 2 song.

I dunno, I still love that smile song. But Aria's an extremely close second. I think it mainly wasn't the song itself, but the circumstance in which I heard it made it my favorite. Either way, both of the songs are great.

I personally thought that Love is in Bloom was the best song off of the new episodes, if not the entire season and or show. I'm really not too big of a musical number fan when it comes to MLP, but that last song was amazing. Can't wait to hear the full version, if it is ever leaked.

new poll! please pick two of the song choices, which were the highest scoring from the previous poll plus the two songs from the finale with the most praise (pretty much no one mentioned "B.B.B.F.F." so I assumed it was unnecessary). after this, I'll do a similar thing for season 1, and then pit the highest scoring songs from both seasons against each other.

By the way, everypony, this should go without saying, but I'm saying it anyway.

Now that season two is over, we enter that months-long drought before we get more pony. That doesn't mean this thread has to die. You have always been able to post whatever you want, but do make sure your posts have something relevant in them, okay? I don't wanna have to slap a filly, but I will.

Also I am gonna hold off on voting on them songs, the smile song is definitely one of the best of the season, but I fear people are hyping the finale songs simply because they're new and it was the finale and people always say that the most current songs are zomg amazing best ever.

Not to say that This Day Aria wasn't good, because, well, it was great. I mean, dat voice. But best of the season? I'm not sold on that quite yet

I'm liking what we got to hear of Love Is In Bloom, it's upbeat and catchy and when we get the full version it will be incredible, surely.

But, PMJ. "This Day Aria" was such an amazing song. I really enjoyed it, like this fine poster did too.

Well, since I had no hype to begin with, I can judge the song without the hype. x3
I'm going to liken This Day Aria to the clone wars; it got too much credit for its worth (yes, your opinion on the clone wars can be too high. No, it was not epic). Unlike the clone wars, This Day Aria had quite a number of strong points, including good implementation of the duet (voice and lyric contrast), and the instrumental is spot on as usual. But regardless, I just couldn't really feel the voices, especially Chrysalis's parts, where it sounded that the voice actress tried a bit too hard on sounding evil. Excellent song, yes. Best song, debatable.

Love Is In Bloom sounds like a generic party song. Well, it's obviously intended to be one, but nothing stood out. The Flim Flam Brothers was far more upbeat than this ending song.

Overall, eh. It was a job well done, but I'm not asking for encores.

Also I'd hold off on saying that This Day Aria was the best song. It's /really/ fantastic and it came out of nowhere...at least for me it did. It shocked me and delivered a breathtaking song. But all of the full length Season 2 songs were also great. I'd wait for the euphoria and "newness" of the finale to wear off first before making any decisions about placing songs as the best.
