But she doesn't have her original sexy villainous look anymore. That kinda takes away a bit of the awesomeness.

Her "Luna forme" just doesn't command the same level of win, IMO.

Either way Luna is a good character IMO, for some reason I think that she would be good friends with Fluttershy...

There was never anything wrong with her character, I just kinda liked her previous design better.


In fact a part of me feels that her changing to a "goody-looking" form was a bit of aesthetic stereotyping. I mean think about it, we could have an entire episode centred around her re-integration into pony society, and the initial rejection that comes with her still looking scary and intimidating on the outside, and the gradual shift towards acceptance and forgiveness, plus the whole "don't judge the book by its cover" thing of course.

IMO it would've made a great episode, not because Luna gets to keep her awesome nightmare design, but because it sort of conveys a very interesting sort of character development where you see someone who looks the same on the outside undergo a gradual but drastic change on the inside (which is how things work in real life because humans don't magically transform! Unless you're like Lady Gaga or something)

Then again, Luna retaining her nightmare form would do little good, ceteris paribus. Since she barely appears anyway (at least to my knowledge)

@XieRH: That's an interesting point, but if there was no magical transforming to begin with she never would have gone in to the Nightmare Moon form, I think they were trying to get across that the normal form is how she was before she was trapped in the moon.

Ya true.

Still kinda wished she stuck to the nightmare moon form though. It sort of contrasts better with Celestia's form. The Luna form is smaller and more diminutive, and frankly looks no different from the other unicorns (aside of course from having wings)
