RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Having the Blazers in is... interesting. Especially since rumors are still going around that Aldridge may be traded.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Eh, I feel the Pelicans and Nuggets have a better chance at that eighth seed. Rip City has too many question marks for me to consider them a playoff level team just yet (then again, so do the teams I named haha).

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Pelican'ts have a chance to make it; just depends on how well the players who need a lot of offensive looks to be effective - Gordon, Evans, Anderson - mesh together.

Lakers still suck

lol at them having to start either Nick Young or Wesley Johnson

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Bucks for best offseason y/y?

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

That awkward moment where you trash Mike Miller, but your favorite team might end up signing him...

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

I missed a lot of the Board of Governers Meeting, but from what I was told, Stern said that the Flop rules are fine and will not be changed next season. Total BS, and I'm sad that they really think the fines are actually working. $5,000 is nothing when players get paid millions a season + endorsements and sponsers.

They also kind of avoided the idea of expansion, which is weird since they were a little more open to talking about it before. Then again, what they did say seemed off from their previous stand on a Las Vegas team, talking about how there has been a love and history of basketball in the city, plus a new arena being built. They made it sound like Sin City is a legit landing place for a new team with Seatlle, not a city out east like St. Louis.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Apparently, the NBA also approved of refs using video replay to determine charge/block calls in certain situations, which I think is a good thing - keyword being "in certain situations." Otherwise, the game could be extended even longer than it is now.

Regarding team expansion, if a team were to be located/relocated, the first place to be considered would obviously be Seattle. At first glance, it doesn't make sense that Las Vegas would be considered before markets like Kansas City, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, or even Cincinnati, because those cities already host professional sports franchises; but then, you see from the Trail Blazers that you don't need multiple franchises in a particular city to have develop a supportive fanbase. If Seattle and Las Vegas were to get expanded into, it would in all likelyhood cause conference realignment; perhaps the Grizzlies would become an Eastern Conference team?

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Biggest part of the meeting in my opinion: the Bobcats are now allowed to change to the Hornets. I swear that Bobcats name is a curse.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

NC pro sports are just cursed in general, from the futility of the Hornets, to the Bobcats, and even the Panthers in the NFL.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

Hey, the Hurricanes were good for a time. We won a Stanley Cup you fool. That's something, right? Right? ;(

The main reason I'm excited for the name change is just for the fans. Hornets led the league in attendance multiple times back in the 90s. Maybe that tradition of high attendance might return now that it feels like the team is back and people can wear their throwback teal gear, which is still as sexy now as it was back then.

I-it's not like I'm an old Hornets fan b-baka. ;-;

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

WOW. Golden State continues its Summer League winning streak after being down 14 in the second half. That's probably the most excited I've ever been for a Summer League game.

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

stopped reading after "Summer League winning streak"

LOLOLOL @ Mavs signing Sammy D to be their starting center

it's gonna be a long season for my parents

RE: The Official NBA Discussion Thread

ITT: we notice that the Bucks and Mavs are trading rosters.
