NFL Discussion Topic - Favorite Teams and How They are Doing

The Ravens will not be NEARLY as good next year because their defense is going to have to be pretty much completely reconstructed, and they lost their best receiver. First, Ray Lewis retired. Second, they got rid of Bernard Pollard. Third, Dannelle Ellerbee (I apoligize if I spelled it wrong), Anquan Boldin, and Paul Kruger got signed to other teams in free agency. And forth, Ed Reed may not be coming back.

They kind of put themselves in this situation when they gave Joe Flacco that mind-boggling 6-year/$120.6 million dollar contract.

Get 1 MVP and you think you can get whatever you want, even though he is NOT the reason at all why they went all the way.

Well, at least Flacco was a better QB then Trent Dilfer. But, I agree; Flacco wasn't worth the contract Baltimore gave him.

Tony wants a championship. And Wes to the Broncos was a good trade, they needed a strong receiver, (Danny Amendola is my favorite strong receiver).
...So you're saying Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker aren't strong receivers?!

Also Danny Amendola only has 7 TD's in 4 years....

TDs don't really make up the slot position. Its more about short progression through passes meant to get first downs, and sometime little gains that give you an edge and setting up the run. (More commonly, teams use the run to set up passes, but the 2010 Patriots are perfect example of how you can use slot to set up the run, then use that to set up the pass This could explain BenJarvus Green-Ellis career best 13 TDs). TDs can happen, but I don't believe that they should be expected often. And I was just naming a few that came to my head at the time. There are many strong receivers in the NFL.

While I think Danny Amendola is a downgrade from Wes Welker, he should thrive in the up-tempo offense in New England, then the offense he played under in St. Louis.

I'd say he was a really good factor to them going all the way. Heck, they wouldnt have made it past the Broncos if it wasnt for his accurate deep throws.

Yea they were obviously very accurate with a 52.9 CMP against the Broncos. /end sarcasm

Yes, if he doesn't get injured...

And Elvis Dumbervill agrees to 5 year deal with Ravens

A big loss because of a fax error for the Broncos. Tough luck.

^Why so much hate on Flacco. I dont like him either, but hes a decent QB
I just hate him because he was so greedy and because of his greed the team got worse in not really being able to keep up in bidding wars because of salary cap, and I am a Ravens fan.

Yeah that's why I dont like him, but he's a decent QB.

You can say what you want with stats, but the end result is that he made the accurate throws when he needed to. He may be greedy, but he was a big factor to them going all the way. Just think about his regular season play....

I don't get why the Redskins want Fred Davis back. Logan Paulsen proved to do well, and he is HUGE and is a lot better than Fred Davis at blocking for the run. Not to mention he is way cheaper...

Also he is prone to injury and was suspended for using drugs.

With Tony Gonzalez coming back for one more year, does anyone think he'll finally get his chance to hoist the Lombardi trophy? Or, at least; be able to play for one?

I don't think so. The NFC is stacked still, with San Francisco and Seattle out west making things uncomfortable for the eastern NFC teams in New York, Green Bay and Atlanta.

I hope so. Tony has been playing for a reasonable time, never got into any trouble, and is very good at his position. (Almost as many catches as Jerry Rice!) He sort of deserves to, like Peyton Manning.

While Tony Gonzalez is probably the best TE to ever play; I think he could have some serious competition from a guy like Jason Witten.

He's coming off the best statistical season ever for a TE, and he's Romo's security blanket. If Witten doesn't break the record; he'll definitely get a bust in Canton.

Outside of DeMarcus Ware, Witten's the only other active Dallas Cowboys player to be on the fast track to Canton.

What do you guys think about Dez Bryant's claim that he can go up there with Randy Moss and Jerry Rice with 20 TD's and 2,000 yards in a season? I think it's BS. With Romo throwing the balls and other good receivers on the cowboys field I don't think he'll get the ball enough times. Even if he did I don't think he has the skills to get that done.
