XY No Professor in X and Y? and the Friend Group

This is just a thought and is probably off, but what if there isn't a professor. If you've seen the images on the official website: http://www.pokemonxy.com/en-us/characters/friends/ , you will notice the friends have things they ask you. One of them discusses your progress, one of them checks your pokedex. Aren't those the things that the professor does? One of them has you come up with a nickname. What if that is your name and you pick your gender in the mirror? Also one of your friends asks if you can see the pokemon now. What if one of your friends gives you your starter? One of your friends even gives you your pokedex. Why have they shown your friends before your professor? The answer: you don't have a professor.

I noticed that too, and I'm curious about which friends don't get a starter...
The example nickname was x-meister hahah

Interesting theory, but the information leak (which so far has not been invalidated) talked about not one, but two professors. I could be that you start off without one, though. I'd be curious to see exactly how you end up with one of three rare Starter Pokemon in that case.
(The nickname thing is for the player by the way, not their starter).

I think that Serena/Calem probably gets a starter. Maybe Trevor does too. I wonder what the non-starter pokemon that the other friends get are. Maybe heloptile, pancham or flabebe? I doubt they will have the same types as one of the starters and they will probably be three staged evolutions.

Didn't it say that you only have two rivals instead of four? (your group of friends)

You're right; I forgot about that...
It's weird though, because everything else has been dead-on. Makes me wonder if there's actually two different sources.
But that's a discussion for that one overly-long thread.

...Still would want to know how a bunch of kids get a hold of some starters without a professor o_o

What someone else said was that he may have planted some wrong info to cover his tracks and not get in legal trouble.

Back on topic, I do find it quite interesting how, if this is true, they are merging the rival and professor together and splitting it into four people.

Very interesting idea... I can't imagine a game without one, but with the points you just made, it could be true...

Perhaps you just meet a professor later on in the game? Maybe you run into them in the building above the starter city? (seen on the map)

What if there is a professor, but s/he is the champion of the region so you get the stuff from your friends that the professor sent them and s/he helps like the professor and champion do along the way, but is not a huge character because s/he is fairly absent from the game? A lot less likely of a thought than my original, but I thought I would put it out there.

When I mentioned this theory to my husband the first thing out of his mouth was, "If there's no professor, there's no one to tell you not to ride your bike inside buildings". My mind was blown.

Didn't we not meet Juniper in BW2 until much later in the game? Maybe it'll be something like that... the group got a package from a far away professor that isn't in there town (not all of us can live next door to a world famous Pokemon professor... but man can we dream).

Lol. On a serious note, I do find that a very logical possibility that s/he is just absent for a while and maybe never shows up, but is mentioned a lot. As for who would tell you "there is a time and place for everything, but not now", your mom.

I like the theory that there isn't a professor. I think there's a probability that it's true considering what your rivals/ friends are asking you about. I could also see them going in the direction of the package of starter Pokemon since I believe that there was something of the sort that started your game in Black and White 2.

I don't know. I think it'd be an interesting twist if there weren't a professor, but I really hope there's one.

That a very real possibility. And makes sense... almost makes you wonder why it wasn't the mom this entire time.

I think Shauna might have a Sylveon since she has all those ribbons. That's one gone. I can see Trevor having a starter. And Serena/Calem will most likely get one too. Now to figure out what Tierno might have.

The website claims he wants to make a dance group with pokemon, so I'd assume something that can dance..?

Actually, my thoughts were more along the Gothita, Gothorita, Gothitelle line.

Maractus, Bellossom, Roserade, etc. I can easily see him being a grass-type trainer if he goes in this direction.

Despite the Vanillite on his shirt.
