It looks like we were partially right and he will not live in or near your hometown.

Lumiose City is still somewhat close to Vaniville, though. He could still send an assistant, especially since it's pratically walking distance.

I just noticed that in the trailer, the case with the starters is shown: there are 3 pokeballs. so that must mean that at least 2 of the friends must have pokemon already. My bet is that tierno has his own pokemon to dance, trevor either doesn't have any or has only one and shauna and callum/serena choose the other two. If the rumor is true, later, shauna will give you her starter (the one that is weak to yours).

Interesting theory, but the information leak (which so far has not been invalidated) talked about not one, but two professors. I could be that you start off without one, though. I'd be curious to see exactly how you end up with one of three rare Starter Pokemon in that case.
(The nickname thing is for the player by the way, not their starter).

Just because there was a charizard in the trailer doesn't mean we will get the kanto starters. The leaker did get some things right, but he also got things wrong like the number of rivals and the gym leaders. We already know we will not get our pokedexes from professor sycamore and i don't think he will give us our starters either.

Can two professors tell that there might be 2 regions?
In any game so far there is one professor for esch region. So it might be like professor oak and elm in gen2 . It doesnt mean that there will be 2 regions but maybe one of them belongs to the region of the next game after x and y
