XY No Professor in X and Y? and the Friend Group

Yes, but you also have to take into account the specific field of study that the Professor specializes in.
For example, I'm sure it took longer for Birch to become a professor than for Juniper to become one, simply based on the areas that they study on.

This is similar to real life studies. A professor in advanced astrophysics might take longer than a professor in basic chemistry.

How interesting would that be if the new professor of this generation was Hilbert or Hilda?
They would be around the age of 19 by this time, anyways. I think it would be something very interesting, but highly unlikely, to see.

lol They said "They want the previous generation to connect to the newest generation."
Maybe Gary Oak will the Prof for this gen. ;) Hahaha

Maybe Colress will be the new professor? But didn't "The source" say the new professor was called Patrice? Or was that a different leak?

Ha, ha, I'm already picturing it:

"Yo!, welcome to the world of pokemon. I'm Gary effin' Oak, but everyone calls me professor, and some call me daddy (if the player is female)."

"Choose your starter and leave, kid. Smell you later!"

"here, pokedex. fill it. catch them all. get out!"

"What? 50 pokemon? you are pathetic, kid!"

"Only 436 pokemon, kid? don't waste my time!"

"What? only 658 pokemon? you are too slow, kid!

"Great, you beat the champion, kid, I always knew there were something about you. Now if you excuse me, I have some cheerleaders waiting. Smell you later!

This might be a little outdated, since I stopped seeing gary prior to the kanto league. Is he a good guy now?

You are Gary is actually studying professor in the anime now.

Something I would love to see in the Anime

Ask walks up to the "new" Professor's building. Steps in, and next thing you know, you see Gary and he has actually aged.

Something I think would be funny.

In the games? He's still kind of a jerk, but he has a bit more respect for strong trainers.

I was watching one of the game trailers and after this scene Tierno gets up and runs off. The other trainers don't follow. So maybe he's checking if the lab is open or he's running off to get some Pokeballs and comes back. But if Trevor was the Prof's assistant (since he hands out the dexes), then you'd think he'd be the one running off to check. Which either means they're both assistants or neither of them are.

It also rules out my child genius Professor theory. =P

So then, either both of them are somewhat related to the prof., or only tierno is, and pokedexes in kalos are something anyone (trevor) can get in a store or something.

And if tierno is checking the mail to see if the starters arrived? in BW they came in a gift box (albeit one that traveled just a few houses away), and in BW2 they were delivered by an assistant. They have been phasing out slowly the professor's role in giving the starters, so maybe here they come in the mail.

To be fair, he gets up and walks somewhere, but it is not in context with the starters at all. What it might easily be, is him showing off some dance move he came up with.

But after they all look at him and he gets up and leaves, they all look away from him? If he was showing off you'd think they'd keep their eyes on him.

You're right, I didn't catch that. Like someone said, he cold just be getting them from his house/mailbox or he could be going to the professor. Or it could be completely unrelated. Maybe he has something else he has to do to prepare. Maybe he gives everyone their running shoes (if they even exist). Could he be leading the pack to get everyone going (they turn back to say something quickly)? Could he be getting something to help him do a dance. There are so many things he could be doing.

I love all of this hype for the games. It causes people to draw connetions and notice every little detail.

We've had rivals turning champs, quitting the trainer path, being son of frontier brain/prof, becoming a gym leader, a prof assistant....
With so many "friends", I wonder if at least one of them won't be joining the villains this time. That could be more drama than BW lol.

Watch the new Japanese trailer and at some point you will see a selection where in the mirror, you get to choose boy or girl. This further supports my theory by confirming that the professor will not be the one to choose boy or girl, but you will pick by looking at a mirror.

The official website says that you'll first meet professor Sycamore in Lumiose City, so it looks like we won't be getting the starters from him directly. Perhaps they get delivered.

Or he'll get an assistant to deliver the for him, like Bianca in BW2.

That's still them being delivered...?

Oh, I thought you meant being delivered by mail.. My mistake :)

No, I apologise, the original post was ambiguous. I think a package like that would be too important to deliver in the mail.

It looks like we were partially right and he will not live in or near your hometown.
