Northern California Regionals 2012

I'll be there.
I think I'm taking FluffyChomp, but who knows? I have plenty of time to change my mind, Empoleon could be fun, or maybe a Garbodor deck.

If you want to play Garchomp my advice is not to play Altaria.

Garchomp actually works really well with Altaria.
Early game if they catcher Swablus then you have another turn with an undamaged Garchomp, or if they dont then your attacks are doing more damage.
I only use 3 and dont bother with them late game.

I have been testing a rogue Garchomp deck without Altaria, but I still like the FluffyChomp better.

But I might be leaning towards an Empoleon varient. I'm really not sure yet.

If you are bent between either or I would say go with Empoleon. It's more consistent and has good draw-power.

Very true, but I think I've found the deck I'll be taking. It's a rogue Garchomp varient, and it seems to run pretty smoothly and has good match-ups against most of the meta-game decks.

I personally can't decide to run Ray EX or Zek EX. Both are good against certain decks but have their weak points (Zek takes too much energy and Ray makes the deck too hard to play in the late game.)

Probably just gonna take Darkrai/Hydreigon. But blargh, I would say go for Rayeels because it just hits so strongly if you play your cards right, there shouldn't be a very long late game.

I only run one Ray or one Zek or one M2, one Ray and one Zek. That's what i have.

EDIT. Leaning toward Zek now because Ray is so weak to the meta and i can't use prism for the attack.

You only have 1 Rayquaza EX, Zekrom EX, and Mewtwo EX?
I have muliple of each if you want to trade/borrow them for Regionals.

I own three Mewtwo and i'm only interested in borrowing Shiny/ DV Rayquaza. I haven't even tested with that yet so i may have no need.

Okay, so I know there has been a lot of wonder about whether or not I will be going to NorCal Regionals this year. I'm sure many of you (read: Meaty) are rather curious. I've been going over this decision in my head for the past couple weeks, and I have finally come to my decision.

The short answer is this:

No.

The long answer is this:

There have been several things periodically coming up in my irl schedule that have hindered what I can do with the time I have. On top of that, I have 3 midterms spread over the next few weeks, and going to Regionals would effectively cost me 3 whole days of studying (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, because of travel time). That...and it's going to cost a lot, something I'm not all that willing to do if I were to go by myself. Simply put, NorCal Regionals was at the total wrong time of year - for whatever reason, TPCI decides to put it at the same time as midterms week (and I know for some it's finals week, which is even worse). Had it been in November or something, like it was last year, it would have probably been possible for me to go. But as it stands now, I cannot. I am sorry.

Well at least now we know. Very well put though, sorry you can't go...

Speaking of DV Rayquaza, Game Kastle got the new blisters last weekend and I noticed a pull rate of 1 out of 3 Blister packs. There's also a blister pack with the Rayquaza promo in front so that means for just $12 you get to have your own Rayquaza to use for your deck. So check your nearest store to see if the Dragon Vault blister packs are out. Because of this I expect to see a lot of Rayquaza at Regionals.

note: Game Kastle sold out of their Dragon Vault blister packs last Sunday so call if they have a new shipment before rushing there.

Yeah, I know; it saddens me too. I really wanted to meet with all you guys again, but as it stands right now, going to Regs would have caused a lot more problems for me in other areas of my life.
