When I leave my laptop to go into sleep mode, for example I go to do something. I turn it back on, log in and my whole screen is black, when I put my mouse over where specific icons are supposed to be they appear, but it is only when I open task manager they come back. Could anyone tell me what this is?

Guys Web O/S is a new operating system for certain mobile phones or a very small computer. Have you guys heard of Web o/s? If so that is what he is talking about. Anyway. Not sure what the problem is but I recommend having geak squad at Best Buy take a look at your computer to see if there is an internal problem or something. If you know someone that can fix it have them take a look at it. In any case on which way you do it. It does need to be looked after man.:)

EDIT: Hazz: Does it flash a line in the upper left hand corner? when you boot up? If so your computer is dying and it is time for a new computer. We have rebuilt computers and if you get this it is your hard drive or motherboard.:(

RE: PokéBeach Technological Discussion Thread

Oh, no I don't get a flashing line... And it only recently started, about a week ago.

I have a question about recording videos without sound. If I bring my camera to a tournament to record a match, I know there will be too much background noise and the video will sound horrible. My camera has an option to record a video with out sound, and an option to record sound only; so my question is, does anyone know of a good free editing program that let's me watch my videos while recording sound, or lets me upload the video to it, record the sound then upload that, then put the audio into the video?

RE: PokéBeach Technological Discussion Thread

I'm a tad bit confused, but if you mean adding sound to silent video, almost any editing program will do it. See this thread: http://www.pokebeach.com/forums/thread-video-editing-software

RE: PokéBeach Technological Discussion Thread

How do you re-layer something onto a video with movie maker? I have W7.

Is the Samsung chromebook a good computer?

(fast, wifi everywhere, portable)

RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

I'd consider it if you've ever considered something like a Macbook. Unless there is a very, very special feature that a Macbook provides and warrants a 2.5 price increase in laptops of the same speed, you would want one to have one (which is a perfectly fine reason). The same thing applies to a Samsung Series 5. It's a good computer, stylish, functional, fast enough for nearly everything on the web (1080p YouTube and some HD players like ABC might make it hiccup), has 3G (very handy, if you're willing to pay when you really need it), and runs Chrome OS (which is very functional; I'm using it while typing this message). The only drawback is, of course, the price. $450 for a dual-core 1.6 GHz machine is a little on the high side.

But battery life is something that this computer really, really excels at. 8 hours on one charge while completely powered on, 8 days while in sleep mode. That's definitively a benefit of a slower computer.

If I was in the market for a computer, this would be fairly high-up (after a triple-boot Hackintosh and unannounced Chromebox).

RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

What the operating system? I bet its Chrome but unsure.

RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

It uses Chrome OS, and about only Chrome OS. You could load a custom-build of Chromium OS (like Hexxeh's), or something like Ubuntu, but compatibility with the hardware of the machine is far lower.

How do we set our router so that it picks up my signal for my DS? The other day our network went down while we were in town and we came home and the internet was completely down. We called our service provider and they got our computers back online but the numbers for each computer changed. Now the router will not allow my DS to connect to Wi-Fi at all. We have done all we can that we can that we can think of and the router has the previous settings now that it had before the network went down and now for some reason the DS will not connect to Wi-Fi.

When I try to connect all that happens is it will show bars then it will disconnect and show this error:

You are unable to connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi connection.
Please check your connection settings and Try again.

Error code: 52100.

I don't know what to do so it will connect to Wi-Fi. If someone can help with this I would be greatly appreciated for the help. My router is a D-Link Router but I don't know what to do to fix this problem.

Also my range of bars is only 1 bar when I connect and I don't know how to fix that so it shows all 3 bars. Thanks guys.:)

RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

Did they change the security type? The old DS ran WEP, but that is unsecure. When they set the router back up they may have used WPA, it is more secure. If WPA was used, your DS could see the router but not connect.

The best way to determine this on a DS is to see what lock the network has by it. If it's grey and locked, then it is WPA and you won't be able to connect to it.

RE: PokéBeach Technological Help Thread

The settings are the same as they were before and it is WEP. The problem is our server had to assign new DNS numbers for us to get online. Ever since then it has not worked at all. Is there a code for the router that we need to be able to make it work on the new assigned numbers? Thanks.:)
