RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

With Gimp, you can make things paint brushes. I prefer to copy-paste, though (I save a whole bunch of files to my computer so I can open them easily).

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

Gotcha. Figured it out, a bit. Now I just need to learn how to cut out the various areas that shouldn't be foil. What tool?

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

What do you mean by cut areas that shouldn't have foil? If you place it right above the blank in the layer box, you shouldn't need to cut anything.

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

Like the type symbol, in EON blanks, the HP box, the various bars for the illustrator and W/R/RC, etc.

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

Oh, those. I'd recommend using the Paths Tool (hit B on the keyboard) and carefully clicking around what you want to cut out on the reverse foil layer. When you're done clicking around what you want to cut out, find where it says "Selection From Path" in the Toolbox, and then hit Delete.

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

Can someone help me with a problem I am having with some blanks? More specificly, this one. I am trying to replace the white area where the picture goes with a transparent one, but I am not having any success. :( Help please!

Here you go:

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

Gah, stupid JPEGs. And stupid GIMP that doesn't like removing white backgrounds. So now I need help with this, this, and this. WPM should just have all the blanks in the "roots of Pokebeach" updated. But it probably won't happen.

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

To work those, just clip mask those blanks to the blank I gave to you. Google "Gimp Clipping Mask" to find out how to do that.

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

Will it still work with a normal Basic {W}/{M} to a {P}*, as in, normal blank to * blank?

~SS

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

I just learned a much simpler way. Use "Fuzzy Select" check all the boxes except feather edges, go to Layer-Transparency-Add Alpha Channel, then click the white background, then hit delete. All gone.

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

Most of you would still probably rather copy and paste the symbols from the internet or something, but I thought I'd share this tip anyway.

Special symbols, such as the é in Pokémon, can be inserted into text by holding down ALT and typing 130 on the number pad, but not all keyboards, including mine, have a number pad. I recently figured out how to turn the right side of your keyboard into a number pad. Press FN + F11, then the following keys will work as...

M = 0
J = 1
K = 2
L = 3
U = 4
I = 5
O = 6
7 = 7
8 = 8
9 = 9

So to type é, you would hold ALT and type jlm.

Another symbol often used on fake cards is the copyright symbol (©), which can be inserted by activating FN + F11, then holding ALT and typing mjo9.

Once the symbol has been inserted, press FN + F11 again to deactivate the number pad, else you'll be typing like this: S60eth5ng ab64t th5s 3662s 25nd 6f 6ff, n6+

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

I use : http://www.alt-codes.net/ & http://www.questgems.com/alt_codes.htm - copy/pasting hehe :)

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

I normally just Google "Pokemon" or "copyright symbol" to get them. XD

Of course, on Windows (not sure anout Mac), it's quicker to go to Start > Run, then type in "charmap".

But some folks like me are just impatient and want to type the symbols as they type the rest of the text, so they can't
be bothered or don't want to be bothered with going to the net or another program to copy and paste, as simple as it is.

Here are some new Energy symbols for anyone interested:

I didn't really make these for any particular reason, but if you'd like to use them for your fake cards, go for it.
No credit required. Just don't use my "A Borrowed Cat Graphics" logo. Ish mine.

The first set in the bottom row is for type, the second is for energy cost, and the last is for weakness/resistance/retreat.
The first set on the top doesn't really have a purpose other than just to let you see them closer.

I'm probably not going to make any templates for these, so if you want to make a set of blanks for these symbols to work on,
feel free and I'll add the link to this description.

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

^Those are awesome. Might just make some blanks for them. (don't expect anything good!)

RE: Fake Card Resources and Help

^Please do. I would love to see anything made for them. :D

I wasn't really happy with the Lightning, Darkness, and Metal symbols, so I tweaked them.

EDIT: Or you can just use this PNG version:
