'Phantom Gate' Scans and Translations! [9/10]

Man, I just want my Alakazam card. Sad

I'm sure they will make Alakazam-EX and Mega Alakazam-EX eventually; this just wasn't the set to do it. As stated Kadabra is the reason they can't do the entire family, but they haven't held back from doing Alakazam whenever they had other gimmicks going on that allowed fully-evolved Pokemon to work as Basics - Alakazam was both a Gold Star in Gen III and an SP LV. X during Gen IV. They also had that Abra who could evolve straight into Alakazam in early DP.

I started collecting the XY sets and buying a couple boxes of each to get most of the cards. I'm thinking I might just buy these cards separately online because it doesn't look like I'd get my money's worth this time around. But on the other hand, I might have to buy a box if I want to get decent supply of these cool Trainers.

On an unrelated note, I love the Sewaddle's attack, "Worm Hole".

I suppose for whatever it's worth Japan's set is 88 cards. Even though we don't know the exact number we know the English set will have more cards, I would say about 20 more. That would of course be at least one Diancie and a handful of normal promo cards that could show up. But unless those promos that are transferred over are REALLY good it won't chage the current out look on the set for many.

If you look at the English cards in this post, there are 119 cards in the Phantom Forces set. Plus secret rares. Plus promos.

I'm very confused why everyone here is so disapointed in this set. I think the cards are great and the artwork is beautiful.

The only thing I'm confused/wondering about is Full Metal Dialga EX. It's numbered 019/018, have we ever had a SR in a constructed deck before? Also since it's numbered that way does that mean that you're not guaranteed to get one if you buy the Hyper Metal Chain deck?

So much ehhh about this set.. I mean, there's some neat stuff like Lysandre's Last Resort and Substitute Robot, but outside of a few good trainers this set just isn't doing it for me.

This whole set is meh. The only thing I can see getting play is the Mega Gengar and Florges in Fairy Toolbox decks. Besides the trainers which are all pretty solid.

Well for me as a certain kind of collector, it's new kinds of Pokemon that interest me. That means EX's, Megas, alternate types, and other cool Pokemon. One of my biggest things right now is a card dex kind of thing and that means most of the normal cards aren't always great. The exception here might be Gorgeist and Crobat. Since I don't really play much the trainers mean little to me.

Some of the artwork I really like, but for me it's either that or I don't really care about it. Truthfully I could hate some of the artwork if I wanted but I have to remember one important thing; I can't do any better.

@bigfootaus: I did look at that article and I didn't see anything stating the exact number that were to be in Phantom Force, but of course I forgot to look at the actual cards to determine the number. That was kind of foolish of me. That's a thirty one card difference for whatever Japanese promos they decide to make set cards and that could include Coccon promo Diancie and Diancie EX though unless they're holding the information for suspense it won't have M. Diancie EX in it.

Man that is a long list of scans. I will have to check them out when I have more time. Are these all the new cards for the new set or are there still more coming?:)

Glad to see Vs. Seeker return since it's release in Platinum: Supreme Victors, I was tempted to run the new Pyroar in my Blaziken deck but it still loses to Garbodor and Wobbuffet. I'm not too happy about the new Spiritomb seeing as how Beam Cancel shuts down players from being able to Rare Candy a Basic into a Stage 2 unless it's evolved from the bench.

Yanmega seems like an interesting tech against Seismitoad EX since it only requires 2 energy attachments with DCE and one of any energy plus it does an extra 50 damage If you switch it from your bench while the first attack is nice for draw consistency as well. As much as I love Exploud's bench spread it loses too easily to Landorus EX, Donphan PLS, and Lucario EX.

Lysandre's Last Resort tho. Finally, I have a way to get DCEs back, even though it's not totally ideal. But anything more would likely be OP.

I also tend to come dangerously close to decking out a lot, so this will be cool for not losing as well.

I can see how Lysandre's Last Resort rewards terrible misplays that would otherwise cost you the game but this was a bad card design choice all around not to mention that it also gives your opponent an advantage as well. I mean what's the point of thinning your deck for valuable resources If you can't even use it to your advantage?

Did anyone notice the fact, that there's NO Gengar Spirit Link card in those scans? Only Manectric Spirit Link… and what about that Diancie? It only will be in the english set?

EDIT: And by Lampent still wrong HP. Only 70, not 80. And there're no matching translations attached to cards in Zubat-line and Gengar-line. And Helioptile's attack is 10 + 20 if the coin flip results as heads; not 2 times 10 after 2 coin flips.

Gengar Spirit Link was a promo I think.

Gengar Spirit Link and Diancie are both Japanese Promos that will be printed in the English Phantom Forces set

Giratina didn't appear until after the release of Pokemon Platinum

Giratina appeared in Legends Awakened which was released several months before Platinum

Also, Rayquaza appeared for the first time in EX-Dragon, even before Kyogre and Groudon (well, if you don't count promos), which was released way ahead of Emerald...

But yeah, where the heck is Zygarde? Seriously?

They realized they goofed. Look at it. Who would want all that Zygarde in Full Art
