YES, YES, YEEEEEEEEES. Oh wow, what an amazing episode. Finally something worth of the eerie and somber feeling of Ghost of Maiden's Peak, Ninetales and Mewtwo, all together. I agree with Athena, this was the best of the series but not only of XY but one of the best in all of the anime.
Even before this episode I was wondering how could a Pokémon with such power take orders from a human, unless a character of great strengh but I didn't got it right about Madame X being either Hunter J or a member of Flare but it was better that way since now we have a Pokémon master villain! I still hope Hunter J returns because they would've make an awesome combination.
Also, the end was just sweeeeet! Meowth's note of Inkay's evolution chain and the innocent smile it gave while everyone else was freaked out (Wobbuffet's expression was just the best)...:p
By Gengar, can you imagine Malamar, J (ghost perhaps!), Dr. Zeiger and the mighty of Team Rocket together. Muahahahahahah!
I won't using spoiler tag, cause I guess who ever brave enough to open this thread is ready for spoilers.
I have sort of idea that this episode will some how connect to the new movie. The room Malamar come into is room to research for Yvetal, I assumed. And in the movie, cacoon of destruction, obviously talking about Yvetal.

What is Ninetales and Mewtwo episode do you mean?

Nobility...it isn't was it used to be. Yes Ash you're now a Baron. Guess what, you can now pretend you're a ghost. Ash's opponent was just plain useless but Ash as a Baron isn't great either. He won't set foot on the castle again so...I would love to see the old Gary, Paul and Trip showing up as Dukes and shatter Ash's hopes of climbing the ranks.
Speaking of climbing, the Gym Leader was just lame...another stain for nobility. A country club full of elegant and refined people and then a monkey climbing walls who can't wait for someone to take a picture and a rap fat joke. Judging by the preview video I was expecting some class from the Gym Leader but it ended up as horrible.
Oh wow, Ash pulls out his team to cheer Viola. I can't believe I'm quoting Iris but: "you're such a kid".
And once more, Clemont s a Gym Leader but doesn't know who are the others. Either they have to start throwing some parties or they already exist but Clemont is never invited.
After such amazing episode we get this filler.
This just another shipping episode for ViolaxGran. Clemont is new gym leader, if I'm not wrong, and the youngest. Maybe their party serves alcohol and that's why he've never invited. And Robo-Clement maybe chased away all friendly other gym leader and make them though Clement as fiercy unfriendly guy. will be good episode, if they ever try to make some explanation about this. Lolz.

But yeah, a downgrade from episode before, not that is a really bad one. Maybe because the Malamar Episode is one of best episodes so far. And anything after that will be downgraded compare to it.

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

I thought of using the spoilers tag but then I remembered reading a warning about spoilers since this is far foward when compared to the english episodes, so we're ok.

Good thinking. It would be awesome if there's really some connection!
The Ninetales episode is one from Season 1 I think, about a Ninetales who's waiting for her departed master. The "gang" is travelling trough a foggy forest and suddenly a young lady carrying a lantern appears and guides Ash & Co. to a great palace (I can't remember if Ninetales is beside the lady).
Ninetales becomes really close with Brock and the lady shows a picture of the palace's master who happens to look exactly like Brock and an old pokéball that is Ninetales'. They try to leave but Ninetales shuts the exit, not wanting to let go of Brock. I think there's a battle and is revealed that it was an illusion. In reality, centuries have passed since the master departed from the palace, the servants started leaving after a while until only Ninetales was left, always waiting while the palace fell into disrepair. The young lady was also Ninetales' creation. In the end, the pokéball ends up broken and Ninetales is free, leaving to wander (at least I believe this is how the story goes).
The thing about Mewtwo isn't really about an episode, I meant (but forgot to mention) the first movie where Mewtwo appears like a (justified) villain, but he's similar to Malamar since the're both strong Pokémon who don't take orders from humans and have their own agenda.

Viola just had to lose just to give a sense of impeding challenge and awe.
Once more you had a great idea, yes perhaps Clemont ruined the first parties with his inventions despite some of the being rather good. For example, the only problem with the Pika-robot was that it got stuck and since it was hyperactive it exploded but still functioned and it was it that ended up saving the day and caughting Malamar out of surprise!

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

Episode 20 has finally been subbed, yay! :D

I really loved both Grant and Viola and this episode; it feels like they're giving them a lot of character. :D I love Grant's Onix, too. <3 I wonder if we'll see Onix in the Gym Battle when Ash finally makes it to Cyllage City? The anime's interpretation of the Battle Chateau is also pretty cool; I kind of hope we'll come back to it later, especially if it means more gym leader vs. gym leader battles, too. :p

This week's episode was actually a double episode featuring XY21 and a special starring Iris that also apparently features Rayquaza. I didn't really care for Iris in the anime at all, but I'm kind of intrigued by the Rayquaza, so I'll probably still check it out. :D

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

It's too bad they don't sub them immediately. I guess I got spoiled by all those anime which get subbed within hours.

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

Yeah, back in ye olde days, I used to be able to get subs for shows within hours, sometimes almost immediately for bigger shows (like Death Note or Gurren Lagann), but now I'm waiting almost a week and it's hard. T_T

I found a way to get that covered: Spanish subs. :D I've started watching them in the Malamar episode I think and just finished watching episode 21 and Iris' special.

It was nice to see the bond between Serena and Fennekin growing. Other than that it was a quiet episode...the ending scene with Clemont was very funny!
About the Iris' special, good thing that it ended like that since Iris seems the same idiot that just left Isshu, waiting for the gym battle to solve her lingering problems with Dragonite. I hated how Blackthorn was designed according to the new style and not just an update of what we saw back when Ash was there.
Another cute Pokémon for her team and that Rayquaza ending? Lame. The Deino line deserved more airing time.

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

Last week's episode was (barely) subbed before this week's this time, woohoo! \o/

Jessie is best actress, by far. >_> Super cute episode, though. It was great to see Serena show a bit of personality and to see her fond with Fokko deepen. :3

We also have the next few episode names known, too, including the date for Ash's arrival in Cyllage City and challenge of Grant! Episode 25 on May 8th. Looks like there's another small break; how nice for the show to take a pause while I'll be on vacation. :p

The shiny Magikarp episode was very nice - another fishing story. From what I could tell, the gang keeped the fishing rods so I hope they make use of it.
I was hoping for some cameo, namely Shelly from Team Aqua or some random former member, now working at the oceanarium. Too bad there were no flashbacks to Misty or Dawn.
It was funny to see Clemont's attemps with his robots and Serena's face the second time.

PS: btw, the only reward in the Resort Area, back in Platinum, was just a lv. 100 Magikarp? Wasn't there a rumour of a shiny Magikarp?

Edit: Watching those Piplup made me think that Dawns' Piplup was indeed a brat like I've read in another thread. They seemed friendly and really helped me liking its species more.
How could I forget, Serena wouldn't probably get Corsola because it's one of Misty's Pokémon and it had some screen time. Also, Serena really needs to get other Pokémon, though it seems it might be hard to get it with Fennekin's help, this one is really snob about itself! -_-
Only thing missing in this episode: Magikarp salesman! Nah, just kidding, I never liked the guy and couldn't stand watching James get cheated like that! Unfortunately, it seems TR is still shortsighted and Meowth looked really dumb when thinking of stealing the golden Magikarp statue.
I'm liking how Ash still only has one badge and the journey it's taking some time and being pleasant (though training time would be welcomed...Ash tried but Serena wanted to visit the oceanarium, so it wasn't his fault). Too bad that, Fletchling Chespin and Bunnelby weren't released. =S

New episode is out! \o/

No throwbacks to previous trainers or anything like Leaf_Ranger said, though Ash does reference Dawn's Piplup when they see the line of Piplup walking by. Not that I expected otherwise. :p And they did definitely keep the rods, so I hope to see some more fishing down the line.

Clauncher was really cool to see. :3 It's nice to see Pokémon that aren't super friendly that don't end up being bad or anything, so good job breaking down stereotypes there. Plus, it was a pretty badass fighter. :D I held my breath for a moment hoping we'd finally get another Pokémon capture with Serena and the Corsola, but sadly nothing. Ah well, hopefully someone will catch a new Pokémon soon!

Next episode looks very neat. :3 My husband love Amaura and Aurorus, so I think he might actually watch this one with me! Or at least catch a bit of it to see what they look and sound like in the anime. :p

Great... ANOTHER episode we'll never see! >_>
"The Castle on the Seabed! Skrelp & Dragalge!!" Has been postponed because of the sinking boat. I swear, Pokémon has VERY bad timing when it comes to natural/human disasters. So far OS, AG, BW and XY have all had episodes banned forever because of disasters.

Anyone find it odd that Ash hasn't caught another Pokémon yet? Will he only have 3 Pokémon the entire series?

Thanks for letting us know! I've updated the dates in the OP, and perhaps optimistically only stroked through the episode instead of crossing it off; we might get it at some point, maybe, I hope. Skrelp is just too cool. :<

It is pretty poor luck that such events have caused episodes to be banned so frequently.

My checking the new dates also taught me that some new episode titles have been released! So I've added those to the OP as well.

I too have been disappointed in the lack of Pokémon being caught. Ash only has Keromatsu and Yayakoma so far, and poor Yayakoma almost never gets any screen time unless he has to chase someone (*cough*TeamRocket*cough*). We were teased with Serena catching a Pokémon last episode, too.

I do have some hope that Serena will catch a new Pokémon at least. The teaser image for EP26 makes it look like Serena has gained a rival of some sort, which may make her a bit more serious about being a trainer, and the following episode features Flabébé, which we know Serena wants, so I'm hoping she'll finally catch one. Nothing about the next few episodes (except the poor postponed Skrelp episode) looks promising for Ash to catch anything new, though.

I was really looking foward to that episode. A sinking boat serving as home to Skrelp and Dragalge, two good-looking Pkmnm seems like something cool. I like abandoned and ruined places, right now I'm interested in Water-type and the last time we've seen these two things together was back in Hoenn and further yet with the S.S. Anne (with some many travels and boring moments, the Decolora arc could had some shipwrecking :p )

I don't find it odd since this season seems somewhat alike to the Hoenn arc, and here the gang also took some time to get a decent amount of them since the catching was fairly distributed. Also, if the ones they have already have so few screen time, why the need for more? Like I've said above, in the golden Magikarp episode, Bunnelby, Chespin and Fletchling stayed in their Pkballs as if they wouldn't enjoy sand and water. -_-

Why do people find the amount of captures odd when its the same that happened in Hoenn and Sinnoh?

- Ash only captured Taillow, Corphish, and Treecko and his team stayed like that for the first 50 or so episodes of Hoenn until he got Torkoal.

- In DP, Ash's team consisted of Turtwig, Stavia, Aipom and Pikachu for 52 episodes until he got Paul's Chimchar.

I think you guys got spoiled by Best Wishes. XY is following the same formula as Hoenn and Sinnoh, Ash is probably only going to have a team of 6 pokemon this entire saga,.

I guess. The problem with BW and XY is, there are way less battles than in OS, AG and DP. For some reason the writers don't think we'd like to see Pokémon battles. :/ Seeing the battles always used to be my fav part of the games, so why so few of them now?

Snorunt was never around with Ash for very long, but it didn't really feel like it, because it got to fight and had plenty of screen time. At the moment the writers are doing everything the wrong way, as Ash's last bird, Unfezant STILL feels new, as it was in so few fights!

I can't believe it. This sucks. I was so looking forward to that episode; sunkern ships, water-types, Skrelp/Dragalge, underwater scenes. Sounds a great adventure to me!

*sobs* (We probably never had a chance to see it, history repeated itself...)

To be fair, I never saw either of those seasons, and only a few eps here and there of Best Wishes. >_>

I can't miss the battles like before because now they're few but rather good, without Ash winning by some unbelievable move or luck. The only ones relevant back in DP were with Paul and that can't yet be obtained in XY due to the lack of a rival. I think this season is letting us warming up to the human characters before things getting more serious.

Btw, the next episode is the battle with the Rock-type dude. Ash lost to the previous leader and only manage to win thanks to training orientation provived by her sister, the gym leader lost to Grant, and Ash expects to win with only 3 Pokémon, 2 of which barely had any training!? Oh boy, either Ash will loose again or it'll win without logical reason, like Pikachu versus Trip's Serperior.

I was thinking it would be (at least) 2v2, with Grant using both Tyrunt and Onix. We know Pikachu goes up against Tyrunt since it's in the title, but with Ash's excitement about battling Onix after he saw Grant battling in the Chateau, it would be a shame if Onix didn't appear in the Gym Battle, too.

From what I've seen (can't say where because of the rules) you're correct, Onix will also appear. ;)
Also, it would be a shame if not because, from what I remember, it's been so long since a trained Onix appeared (I'm thinking of Brock's and Bruno's Onix), so it should be interesting to see what did an old fellow came up with! :D
________________________________________________________________________

I saw the Amaura & Aurorus episode and it was nice to see them in action, namely the sail (I won't go deep as not to spoil). It was indeed better than the Carracosta episode (so lame), also than the Archeops, but what bugged me was Team Rocket.
Seriously, BW opened a good precedent but one that now makes things as they are a mess. Team Rocket was evil by the time of the first BW season, with new outfits, new scientist, new goals and agents, then they returned to their usual and then, by the start of XY, they seemed like the capable team from the early BW but without the obsession with Pikachu and stupidity, with thought and striking operations, a balance that was welcomed and good. Where the hell is Zaeger and Giovanni to put those three in line!?

PS: also, wth happened with the trucks? The gang managed to catch up with TR, even on foot, like the truck was the Meowth baloon without rockets and worse yet, the lab's truck just seems to appear from nowhere, like it had been following the whole time? How about giving Ash & co. a ride (not that it would be needed it seems)? -_-'
