Yeah, this is why I didn't bother listing the Gen 5 Pokémon has has seen an interacted with (either in the wild or with other trainers), since that seems to follow counter to deciding which Pokémon Ash will capture.

Shame, really, there's already quite a few Pokémon discounted, and Kalos doesn't really introduce all too many new Pokémon species anyway.

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

Who's to say Ash won't capture one? Maybe he'll get a Carbink after all, or a Klefki.

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

Do you think Ash will catch more than 6 Pokémon again? This generation has very few options, which is why I'm guessing they will use this opportunity for Ash to catch Pokémon he missed in other Generations. The old/new theme kind of hints at this. I don't think he will actually catch em all, but he could catch a lot more than he did in previous generations. The fact Kalos is known for having (almost) all Pokémon and they did not release many new ones also makes this a likely option for me.

I hope he will get Mega Lucario so he can use his Aura again. :p

I don't like your idea for two reasons: Lucario is way to overrated and second, I couldn't stand seeing Ash as the guy with an awesome aura, the stupid and useless brat trainer turned into a hero once more. Please no, the movies already do a wonderful job at praising Ash as the ultimate hero needed in all regions and the subject of all myths and profecies.
"From dust to dust and ashes to Ash, may the saviour return with his freakin' aura and discover the ultimate gimmick: Mega evolution. YES, all praise Ash!"...Oh yeah, perhaps we'll find out that...what's his name...the boss from Plasma is Ash's dad and so it confirms Ash as royalty and the ultimate heir of the world, keeping Yveltal at bay (or killing it but not shown explicitly, just showing its body and some fluid running from it and creating a pool), praising Xerneas and bringing forth the second coming of Arceus to an age of peace that will last for all eternity. And they lived happily ever after. THE END (oh wow, I just came up with the end for the Pokémon series!!)

Ash has shown disinterest in Pokémon he's seen before, before, like Snorlax.

Damn it, I always forget that his Snorlax isn't the one that was blocking some river in Kanto (?). Well, time for me to go watch older episodes. Still, I might say that the ones he uses frequently are those that he has interest in it. Ash tends to see the regions' starters before capturing them but we always see him very excited and thinking which one would he chose. Snorlax was just there... Perhaps Ash will catch a Pangoro with Snorlax's lazy personality and so it will appear only a few times and won't be that much important.
You've said that Ash sucks at training and evolving Water types but don't forget that in terms of traveling companions, XY seem to be following the Hoenn saga where the starters all evolved and also, since XY is breaking a few (very few) cliches or at least trying to not making the same mistakes as in BW, they might evolve just to stand in opposite direction of the previous show which had, as you know, very few evolutions with only one starter evolving and just one stage.

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

What I got out of Episode 13: Nymphia's ribbons confirmed for tentacles.

Otherwise, kind of a meh episode, really. Story was kind of bland, and not even Team Rocket as cosplaying jugglers could save it.

Next episode looks pretty awesome, though. I'm a sucker for ghost stories. :D Also, a reminder that there's a break this week so there's no new episode until next Thursday.

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

The show has had loads of breaks recently. I swear they just got out of a 3 week break, now another one? The dub is going to catch up at this rate.

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

The other break was probably for special programming over the holidays. No idea what this break is for, though. Maybe Drohn can shed the light on if anything important is happening on Japanese TV this week. :p

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

:O I just found out Yuji Ueda is the VA for Froakie! I need to watch the first few episodes again now!

BTW, it was a Naruto Special.

My apartment here doesn't have a TV. ;-; Luckily Blob was able to figure it out.

I just watched the latest episode. I liked that in the beginning they made a reference to the games (having to battle when the eyes of trainers meet). Since we now know the anime makers know about the games, they have no reason to mess up the Super Effective/Not Very Effective/Not affected Type match ups! Let's wait for Dedenne to take a Draco Meteor for the team now. :p

Speaking of types, I did think it was odd that Ash took a new type so casually. As if it was nothing that he travelled through so many regions without ever hearing about it. I was hoping for a more detailed explanation about why it was not known about for so long.

It was a nice and funny episode overall. I liked how Serena got worried when Premiere said she wanted to "be with Ash".

The Espurr from the next episode is seen with something around its neck, so sadly, I don't think one of the main characters will catch it. Anything can happen, though, in the next or other episodes! :)

I know what you mean, but Dedenne is a Fairy type too, so the new type could of been mentioned to Ash off-screen.

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

Episode 14, the best in many years!
Great story - creepy at the beginning and bittersweet in the end -, amazing music and all the usual characters were just hilarious, namely Clemont, Serena and the T.R. trio (it seems James is the only one smart enough to try opening closed things by breaking them instead of just being ok with them!)
Again, another car based on a real one.
One of the saddest things of being a grown-up is that we already know how the plot will unfold and how it'll most likely end but still this episode managed to be fresh, fun and memorable.

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

Agreed, this episode was definitely one of the best this season so far! :D Espurr does a good job and being both cute and creepy, and the story was sweet, despite the creepy beginnings.

Also, I must congratulate Citron on a good call. I was just wondering "Man, you'd think that people in the Pokémon world would be used to strange, metaphysical events, what with Psychic- and Ghost-type Pokémon and all," right when Citron concluded that it must be a Psychic-type Pokémon. :p

Next episode looks cute; we should get some more of the Pokémon's personalities in this one! I'm interested to see how it turns out; poor, chubby Chespin. :D

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

Part of me was still hoping that the old lady would be alive despite showing her tired. :(

Yeah, Clemont finally had an "Eureka" moment (pun intended :D ) after Serena opening her mouth so many times (I've liked that because It also happens to me, scaring myself out and worsening things after some shows instead of being rational!)

You're totally right, it's not like Ghost-types are a new thing.
On a side note, if that "more mature anime" were to happen I would like to see some kind of "Fringe unit" dealing with just this kind of Psychic/Ghost things (I got this idea mainly after watching that BW episode were some guy used a Psychic Pokémon to steal (?) things) and also work with "Leaf Rangers" when it comes to deal with orphaned, mistreated and/or abandoned Pokémon (also when the human using Pokémon go to jail).

PS: Now I want a plush Espurr -_-'

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

This looked like a really good episode. At first I thought it was just going to be the season's mandatory-cliché-scary-house-haunted-by-a-Pokémon episode, but it seemed to be more then just that, since it had such a sweet little story.
On another note, I watched the dub of episode and three, and man was it a blast! Seeing Froakie fight in moving film was even far more awesome than then pictures.

Just so you know, we do have a thread to talk about the English dub for those who are following that instead of (or along with!) the Japanese release. :)

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

They remake old stories!!!!

I don't hate it... since that means they understand the charms of early seasons of pokemon.

1. Dedenne = Togepi *I DON'T WANT DEDENNE TO EVOLVE*
2. The Fufrow *maybe I spell it wrong, I mean the poodle pokemon* episode = Pokemon Fashion Flash #28 S1
3. Last episode about Espurr = The Tower of Terror #23, and Haunter vs Kadabra #24
4. The episode about kindergarten = The Purr-fect Hero #53
5. The episode about Vivilon get capture also similar to #21 Byebye Butterfree *I still want the Pink Butterfree*
6. The background story about Ash's Froakie kinda similar to his Charmender as in #11. Story is different though.

They have similars theme and some have similar/close scenes, but they put different story. I believe the producers of new anime looking back to first seasons for some materials. I love early seasons of pokemon!!

Lucky for you, Dedenne can't evolve, as it has no evolutionary forms. :p
I too like it when they recycle story lines. It gives the newer episodes that old nostalgic touch, while leaving it with a new, fresh feeling. It's also a 'plus' for both veterans and newbies to the Pokémon series. The vets get to 'revisit' a remake of an episode from their childhood, and the newbies get an all new episode that's based on the classics.

*Nod-nod*

Dedenne should stay in it's small form and become a hamster's pokemon forever.

Classics pokemon have stonger materials *in history/memory*! Like how Ash vs Gery not just about pokemon battle but also both of their pride, ego and friendship that grown over time. None of them are wrong/right. They shared memory and dream, and fight because of it. Something I don't feel in Ash's rivals in anime after Gerry.

When they put Serena as someone from Ash's past, I feel, FINALLY!!!

I really like how they put emotions of the characters in this anime. How the show what they like/not, their sadness, happiness, etc. All seems real and logical, and is shown in the way that make watcher can feel it too. I think in character development, this anime is the best of all pokemon's anime.

But season 1-2 still have stronger humor! I have rewatched some episodes of early season for nostalgic reason, after I watched the episode that similar, and I can't stop laugh!!!

RE: Pocket Monsters XY Discussion

Ash doesn't really have a rival yet. At all actually. Usually his rival picks a starter Pokémon, but this league looks more like the Orange, Hoenn (until the end) and Kanto BF leagues.
