What does everyone think of the new feature Pokémon-Amie? I personally like it and think it will be quite a fun side thing to do, but I do feel like Pokemon is leaning a little close to Nintendogs+Cats.

RE: Pokemon-Amie

It seems like a nice little mechanic, it kind of relaxes the gameplay a bit.
Although I wonder what happens when you try to feed a pokemon that has no mouth...

RE: Pokemon-Amie

Sylveon evolves through this. They might change the happiness system to this (I don't think they will as there are lots of Pokemon that evolve through the happiness system) or it could just boost happiness while it also having a different factor. I'm not sure what does the part of waiting for your move means.

RE: Pokemon-Amie

I've been waiting for something like this since I first started playing Pokemon back in 2000. Pocket Pikachu was allllmost there, but not quite. I don't think it'll be super in-depth like some virtual pet games (or even other side-games, such as the Chao raising in Sonic Adventure 1 and 2), but it looks fun enough.

I think it's just a cute aesthetic feature, like sitting on benches c:

If they ever had a pokemon raising side game like the chao garden I would explode. I loved it; I had all three chaos chaos (oh god they're the same word) on Adventure 2.
I actually love the idea.

If Sylveon evolves through this and this is the new happiness system, then how do you get Espeon/Umbreon?

That is why I doubt it. As I said, it will probably boost happiness while it has another factor so Sylveon would evolve with the other factor.

Certain amount of EXP and a level up? For example, once you give them a certain amount of EXP, if they level up at a certain time, Eevee will evolve into Espeon/Umbreon

Doesn't "certain amount of EXP" only measure out to what level a Pokemon is? So essentially that'd be the exact same as every other level-up evolution? o_O

I don't think this is a new happiness system. I think it may help boost happiness (probably with a daily limit), or it may even be a secondary system. The old one's likely not going anywhere.

Hatch an eevee and give it enough EXP to reach level 10 = evolution
Get a level 62 eevee from a trade and give it the same amount of EXP = evolution

I'd say not it's not like the other level-up evolutions.

Also, is it just me, or does this feature seem to be capable of, somehow, becoming a little PokePark for 3DS and PGL?

RE: Pokemon-Amie

And here we see what would happen if you fused Pokemon's Happiness system and Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance's Dream Eater system.

I really like the feature! It seems like it'll make me feel closer to my Pokemon.

RE: Pokemon-Amie

Other than getting Sylveon, this just sounds like another restriction for Nuzlocke players.

"Hey, Nuzlockers! Get ready for a whole new level of heart-crushing sadness, as you are now required to personally bond with each of your Pokemon! You'll pet them, feed them, and sink into a spiraling abyss of despair when you see them breathe their last breath!"

RE: Pokemon-Amie Discussion

All I can say is that I can't wait to interact with my shiny Dunsparce with this (if they get the communications with the older games working like they plan to). It will look so cute om-nomming stuffs and playing with me. Just thinking about it... D'awww! I want it now!

RE: Pokemon-Amie Discussion

That's almost exactly what I posted in the new mechanics thread. is GF taking ideas from here?
I'm so happy, at last, your pokemon will have a more significant importance than that back sprite that attacks when you tell it to.
And since gardevoir is all but confirmed, I'll get to feed and pet and interact with my gardevoir, you guys, I'll get to play with my gardevoir. And with the pokemon amie bonuses and its fairy type, maybe now I will finally repeat my feat of beating the entire game using only her.

Okay gamefreak, If you are reading this: now put pokemon walking with you, HGSS style.

RE: Pokemon-Amie Discussion

I think I may be only person who really dislikes it. xD I really hope it's avoidable and it doesn't make too much difference to the game if it wasn't played. It's definitely a feature I can imagine kids using a lot though...

EDIT: I mean, what's with all the hearts and rainbows? Surely they could have made it so you could just hand them a ham sandwich, say "Good job, mate" and be done?

RE: Pokemon-Amie Discussion

I agree with mastermagpie, about it affecting gameplay. I hope you don't HAVE TO use the feature, but its there for if you want to use it.

I'm, saying this (above), but I'm sure I'll try it and then fall in love with the feature.

...how do oyu survive petting Slugma, Ferroseed, and Deino?
you either have your hand melted, your hand stabbed, or your arm eaten off...

Well, they did say that "You'll need to play with them over and over to learn their preferred way of being cared for" and that "If you get a bad reaction, you may want to change your approach", so... ^^'

Is this interaction with your 'Mon going to benefit you or them in anyway? Like with the poffins?
