Pokemon Pokémon Games Timeline Theories

RE: A Pokémon Timeline.

Okay. It's mainly out of Gen 1 that the theory started. For one, Lt. Surge says "These electric Pokémon saved my life in the war" if that isn't an indicator that there was a war, I don't know what is. Another thing is the lack of middle aged men. Lt. Surge, the sailors and that's it. There's only children, women, and the elderly.

That was a reference to a real-world event, likely the Persian Gulf conflict since he was way too young for any other war. He's even called the Lightning American in the US games.

RE: A Pokémon Timeline.

True, however, just because it's a real world reference, that doesn't mean that it didn't happen in the game. He specifically states there was a war. You can't get around that.

It kind of does. Raichu and Ghastly's pokedex entry both say stuff about Indian Elephants and Mew was discovered in South America. yet there is no such place in the pokemon world.

RE: A Pokémon Timeline.

Lt. Surge doesn't have a Mew. Or a Ghastly. And just because Raichu was discovered there, doesn't mean he caught his there. They make real world references all the time. Parasect (or Paras. Not sure) 's mushrooms are sold in China. There's no China in the Pokémon world.

A lot of the Pokemon world is based on real world locations. All the regions up to generation four were based on different parts of Japan. Even Castelia City in Unova is well-known to be modeled after New York City. Granted, they were altered for fictional purposes, but the real world basis is still there.

RE: A Pokémon Timeline.

Okay. Real world reference or not, there was a war mentioned. Lt. Surge was in it and it wiped out most of the middle aged men in Kanto.

So basically this is how it goes,
RBY
DPPt
GS HGSS
RSE/BW
RSE/BW
BW2

How could DPPt be before HGSS/GS and RSE IF there's an old man in Platinum who mentions the burnt tower + Tin Tower + Whirl Island + the rocket ships from RSE If Nintendo could read this thread, they'd have a lawl attack

Alright, well this is getting confusing. But perhaps the space shuttle launched BEFORE the war in Kanto and that technology was destroyed. Between the events of B/W and B/W2, they begin making a space station in the Hoenn region. It's finished as B/W2 has ended, and I'm running out of ideas.
Of course you're running out of ideas. You're trying to come up with some unnecessary conspiracy theory, when a simpler explanation is staring you in the face. Not everything has to be some garbage about how all knowledge of space flight technology was destroyed and somehow magically returns and still they decide to build a space center in Hoenn but not Unova.

Just because the technology for spaceflight exists doesn't mean there has to be a space center everywhere. Does every country in the real world launch space shuttles? Maybe space launches are expensive or maybe the other 4 regions we've seen so far don't have the right weather conditions to launch shuttles? Just because some regions don't have them doesn't mean that the technology was completely erased and then rediscovered and a new space center was rebuilt over the course of just a few years. It's only getting confusing because you're looking too deep into this and are trying to make up theories that are illogical and unnecessary.

RE: A Pokémon Timeline.

Additionally, this isn't like the Zelda series in which all the games take place in some kind of succession with direct prequels and sequels. Any sequels that happened within the Pokemon universe only occured in given scenarios.

RE: A Pokémon Timeline.

Maybe some regions just favor certain technology over other certain technology.
Or they just don't use it. Isn't Kanto supposed to be kinda old-fashioned? It would make sense for them to just plain be behind the times because the citizens are just used to their way of life.

OBVIOUSLY HE'S A CRAZY PSYCHIC OR A TIME AGENT OR FROM THE FUTURE, YOU NUMSKULL, LOL

Anyways, Pokemon doesn't really have a timeline(ALTERNATE TIMELINES OMG). It just, well, exists. There's really no need to think about it too much.

I guess this was kinda what I was trying to say.

RE: A Pokémon Timeline

Now that the topic is timeline...

Have fun. Just change the name of Ash to Red, and the last event (in my opinion) should happen later. Except that, it's a really interesting theory, worth reading.
