Pokemon and Middle School. Good Combination?

now that im in 9th grade, i have learned a few thinigs about middle school, and people who make fun of peers, who play card games, and watch anime, blah blah blah.....

- nobody ever found out that i did, because im a closet nerd, who is a jock at school, but nonstop plays pokemon when im outside of school, but there is a big group of people who play pokemon at school(poorly..lol...i cant help but think how horrible they are playing, but commemorate them for trying) and watch anime, and dress like anime characters, but none of them care what other people think, thats what you should try.

-that is a big group of people who have known eachother for a long time, and all have boyfriends/girlfriends within their group....maybe if you have these kinds of groups at your school, and want a girlfriend, you should try hanging out with them...

-whatever happens, remember this:

there is a large quantity of studies that have proven that people that go through school doing what they like, and not what other people think is cool, they end up having more succesful lives (i.e. better jobs, more stable families, and better values)

and if worse comes to worst........just tell them to suck it......lol

hope i helped, i can feel for what you're going through!

asking poeple the reason for why they should care is a great tool. seriously , you liking pokemon dosent affect anyone in any way , why should they care . i actually had some people at school that were going to start to make fun of me as soon as they heard i like pokemon. they just simply started with a giggle and followed it with the unnecessary comment/question: "you still like pokemon?". right before they said anything else, i responded with : "why should you care, please explain how me liking pokemon affects you?". it is so funny because most people dont know how to respose. they just shut up. that and simply turning away and ignoring them is very important. they shouldnt care, but you shouldnt care either. there just trying to get your attention, if you give it to them , they'll take it.... if your so embarressed of what you like though, then dont let people know , its that easy.

learn to play some sport or some online games.Show off to them and probably they'll forgot you once love pokemon :p
Also people who plays the pokemon tcg knows more about strategies,IMO.

Just know in your heart that they don't have the maturity to respect other's likes and dislikes.

This should have gone into Misc Stuff.

Long, tiring but extremely funny/effective method: Find one of their own hobbies that they would prefer people not to know about.

Not let it get to you, at least not on the outside. Tendancy is that they'll get bored with nonresponsive prey.

Counteract all their statements with questions like "How are you any better than me?" Sport I would counter with the fact that it's completely useless to anyone, and almost also to themselves. If they just answer with "shut up" type responses keep beating down on how they don't have any backup as to their "superiority". Same goes for personal attacks rather than attacks on the arguement.

Question their reasoning for why Pokemon is bad in the first place. Raise up the points that it has a strong tactical based gameplay, and agree with the fact that the anime is childish and stupid. Level yourself with them, agree with some of their ideals, as I'm pretty sure most of the time most people here don't really care for the anime anyway.

at the girls part:

do you want a girl who is liking you as you are, or who is liking you as you want to bee??

i would choose the 1st option IMO.

some guys of my class already had 7 girlfriends or something, i had 3, but each of them didn't went away for nothing...

#1: she pushed me to a car(by accident), and i was almost dead, i broke up because i tought it wasn't by accident, after i heard it wasn't i asked her again and she said no.
#2: she moved to another part of the country and i never saw her again.
#3: met her on the begin of the holiday, it lasted 6 weeks, then we had to go, sad (she was from england, i from holland, theres an ocean between.)

and now i have a girlfrend (highschool, and its lasting 6 months now.)

so thats my life story, lets now get to the point:

be yourself, if a girl likes you, cool!, if she doesn't leave it like that.

school:

just ignore them.
if they attack you or something:
punch back, and then tell a (kind/nice) teacher what happend, also tell you punched, and talk about it with the bully, and the teacher.

most of the time, teachers have respect for you saying you hit them too, and also that you didn't was scared to say they bullied you.

Wow. This concept of Middle School is new to me, tucked away down in Australia. I've heard of it, but know only what its name suggests. What years does it cover? We have Primary(Kindergarten-6) and High School. (7-12)

People at my High School don't seem to care(Since all the cool kids are playing it(and me =P)). Back in Primary, I just ignored "bullies"(Iverted commas because Primary School bullying is quite woosy. =P). It died down after a while but never really stopped, but enough people liked Pokemon there to keep me going. Not that I particurally cared. (Although my love for Pokemon did die down a lot several times, as you can see by my post count compared to my join date.(Which, btw, has been multiplied by 7 since I got active again. =/)

Also, its always funny when people are going on about how crap Pokemon is and then they say "I like the games..." And then its like "Well so do I!"

I don't know how old you are, but if friends of me asked why I did it I just explained to them that I found it to be the more fun, more complicated and less dangerous to addicting(not true) form of playing poker. It just is more fun and you have to use your brain more, and the cards are your, you make your own style, in poker everybody does 'almost' the same over and over again in different situations. all of my girlsfriends found pokemon to be childish but they only found out I played it after a couple week because i just never talk about it or i don't have anything besides from my cards and nintendo. Strongly recommended: NEVER wear pokemonstuff if you get picked on at school, I think I would even make fun of people who did that, sorry

it is a lot harder to be acceptedin High School then Middle School...

... That's got to depend on where you go, I suppose. I found that when I was in high school, people were a lot readier to accept one as they were. ;)

Another note:

Whatever you do, don't show them this thread. It's going to make you a laughingstock.

1.Find your own set off friends.
2.Make sure thay are above 3ft (no offense to short people but tall people are more scary to the bully's)..Unless.. dont worry.
3.Make sure their loyal.
4.Hang out in groups(Got that i a pshe class xD)
5.last off all:at some point in your life you will have to stand up to people,LEARN KARATE !!!

p.s If all off this fails learn to run ,really, really fast in the opposite direction to 8th graders = years above (im not familier with american years) .

did you go to a small high school? my high school was so small that people were forced to get along or deal with seeing there enemy all day long ... well maybe it was more because it was also a small town. everybody was so bored that they tried anything. you eventually found out that you wernt the only one with an embarrassing hobby or obsession. by my senior year everyone was taking about how they addored sponge bob , dora the explorer, and bob the builder. it was actually kind of weird.

That is sorta like a perfect world, but the reality is if you go to a big school there will be bullies.

I'm in middle school and play pokemon, wear there clothing, watch the show, ect.

They really don't care.

Kids call me alot of bad names but not because I play pokemon.

Fat, ugly, ect.

Pokemon is such a stupid reason to be picked on! Maybe your too perfect and Pokemon is the only thing "non-perfect" about you.

Oh and I'm also being Ash for Halloween... They wanted to be pikachu. :/

I would kill to be called Ash. I'm a girl (red hair argh) and i'm always being called misty. Not that I mind :) . A tip for you is to not to care and spread that pokemon goodness in their face.
Ha! you just got pikachued!
And a quote from my teacher Mr. A
"If you can't beat them in a game. Beat them in the parking lot." I love that one, but he contradicts himself by saying. "Love is still the answer." I'd personaly go with the love one if I were you ;)

just be yourself
you'd surprised to find other kids that play that keep it on the Down low.
i found a group of players at my high school and we oplay every morning in the library,
this worked for me but im not tellling you to tell everyone you play TCgs but just look around for ppl who dont seem to care and ask them if they play. seriously

Well god when youre a fat kid who can't play sports except swim, gets 14 minutes on a mile run and plays pokemon. Well it kind of sucks ya know? oh well ill just tell them to f*** off. Lets see if that works.

if anyone told me "lol pokemons R lame you suck" i would just say "why?" "the card game isn't that childish and the video game is 100% for everyone. i think the problem with pokemon is that, when people think pokemon, they think of the TV show, which, is very childish (not dissing anyone who likes it i'm just saying it's kinda childish) so next time they tell you that i would just tell that they are thinking of the TV show which is lame, then tell them that the card/video games and totally different and they should try it first.

hope this helps! ~eleki.
