Pokemon Pokemon Pet Peeves: Video Game Edition

And Gen III was better? Not only was there no touch screen to choose whatever section you wanted immediately, but you had to memorize the order of the bags or just keep pressing left or right until you get what you want.

At least Gen 3 had a PC system for items, so you could get rid of any unneeded item.

When GF make squeals of Rumble with all Pokémon, yet didn't in a series that needs all/most Pokémon. (PMD Gates to Infinity).
GameFreak doesn't make those games.

I meant that they allowed those games to exist. Who seriously wanted a Rumble squeal?

Many people, considering it got a sequel.

But with all Pokémon? You can't even level anything up and if you want anything decent, you need about 50 of each.

It's just a different style of gameplay. You aren't meant to get attached to Pokemon like you do in the main series; you're supposed to continuously rotate into stronger ones.
Bonus pet peeve: When I try to walk around an NPC, and they move to still be in front of me. Several times in a row. How.

Then why have all Pokémon in it? The first one was fine with only having mon from Gens 1 and 4.

I find it more annoying when you keep on Running/Cycling into the walls of the Pokémon Center.

Why does Dunsparce have its teeth below its mouth? It looks more like its mouth should be where its chin is.

They're chin spikes D:
I run into the sides of the doors of buildings in BW/2 way too often. Could've done better with a bike that didn't accelerate from zero to a billion mph in half a second.

You could always teach the Pokemon the HM move again, yes? I mean, they can be used an infinite amount of times. Being able to delete the move with, let's say, a desired TM and then realizing you need it again would not be a big deal. You could replace the TM with the HM and if you wanted to learn the TM again, you always have that option.

That's true. I suppose someone could trade you a Pokemon with the move before you get the HM, get yourself stuck, and then delete it. (Gen 5 doesn't have HM/Gym Badge restrictions.) You would have to be an idiot to do that, but it's possible.

I never knew about the badge restrictions. I guess I never picked up on that. Huh. I wonder why they did that.

I think badge restrictions are so that you don't get go too out-of-order. It would be pretty odd to get Cut from a friend at the beginning of the game and use it to go through Diglett's Cave and get to Vermillion City before even your first badge o_O I'm guessing BW took out the restrictions because they were already so painfully linear that it didn't matter.

That makes sense. It also puts people's complaints about Unova being a straight line into perspective. Personally, one of my pet peeves with the first gen was that you could get anywhere within five minutes because the routes weren't long and region was pretty much a square. But then again, you could choose when to get your badges. I would get them in different orders and always liked the ability to skip a gym. I missed that in Unova but I love the region as a whole so much that the linear aspect did not bother me so much.

Pre-Gen V: Needing HMs to do things. RAGE. So annoying. I didn't even really notice how much this bothered me until Gen V came along and mostly only uses the HM moves for optional things: shortcuts, items, etc. Surf is still needed, of course, but at least that's actually a pretty good water move. While there may have been other instances where HMs were absolutely necessary, I can't think of any of the top of my head. The Gen V model is really nice because it keeps the HMs useful without being annoying and interfering with the rest of gameplay.

Also, while I think most of the generational changes to sprites have been improvements for the most part, I'm really saddened by the fact that Pikachu keeps getting skinnier. His original fat form was the cutest.

THIS X1000000000000!!!

Pikachu has always been my favorite Pokemon. I've loved him ever since I saw a clip from the first episode. However, the fact that he keeps becoming not only skinny but more of an elongated rectangle bother me. Fat Pikachu was the best Pikachu. I understand the animators had to change him slightly because it was harder to give a fat, round, object as much expression. However, there are times when an individual arm is fatter than his ENTIRE body. This upsets me. I want a rounded Pikachu again. Whenever I explain that Pikachu is my favorite now, I clarify by saying fat Pikachu is my favorite. At least Raichu stayed fat.

Why is that a problem? You didn't lose anything. Nobody forces you to buy it.

I hate getting hit with Fissure/Sheer Cold/Other OHKO moves.
When? If your Pokémon is higher leveled, they don't have an effect and they are banned in competitive use. (Random Matchup? lol)

I get screwed over by these all the time in Stadium.
And the main series if my team is juuuust barely under the right level >->

Not being able to delete HMs hurts, admittedly. I don't remember the reason why, but there's one for sure.
My own pet peeve is definitely having to manually sort Pokemon in boxes. Takes ages. Another one I have is that in cases, there's someone blocking your path and simply says "You can't pass." Oh really? Why can't I just beat him down with my Pokemon? Or fists?

I bet you loved the dancing men in front of Black City / White Forest in B2W2!

The reason for the HM thingy has already been explained in this thread.
