Pokemon Pokemon Pet Peeves: Video Game Edition

...You just reminded me of the Gym Leader pinch theme.
which also irritates me beyond belief, as does the 'danger' theme you just mentioned.

The reaction to those was largely mixed. The idea behind them was nice, I'll definitely admit that, but it was incredibly distracting.

I didn't find the music changes distracting at all. I thought they were exciting. I particularly liked the low-health one because it made the sound listenable rather than irritable.

I hate the "danger" theme so hard. I just turn off the volume whenever I hear it because it irritates me that badly. I don't know why I dislike it so much, but it's probably the single most annoying thing I've ever heard in a video game. (Well, "HEY!!" from OoT certainly gives it a run for its money >.>)

I think a few of my biggest pet peeves in the Pokemon Video Games is about people having to use cheating devices like PokeSav and Action Replay to play the Pokemon Video Games or they're too lazy to train their Pokemon up to Lv. 50 or 100 so they'd probably rather play the original Gen I and II games on their laptop or smartphone. Heck I've also seen a buttload of bootleg Pokemon games on the Internet like you wouldn't believe. There's even Let's Plays of people actually playing these bootlegs on YouTube that someone who doesn't work for Game Freak created with a video game emulator. I understand that some people use video game emulators to play games that are scarce and hard to find (Earthbound for example) or are region locked from Japan but using them to make fake Pokemon games is just downright silly IMO.

Another pet peeve of mine in terms of the Pokemon Video Games is why Game Freak only allows for 3 on 3 Lv. 50 Flat Battles on GTS Random Matchup instead of full 6 on 6 Battles whether If they're Lv. 100 or Flat. That's part of the reason why I think alot of players are ditching Wi-Fi Battles on their DS or 3DS in favor of Pokemon Showdown on the Internet which even though it's not officially made by Nintendo and Game Freak, I'll admit it does take away the stress and hard work of having to EV Train your Team(s) to Lv. 50 or 100 however you're doing it. It's not like you can participate in Official VGC Tournaments solely using the Pokemon Showdown program alone so what's the point of it being around? To me Pokemon Showdown hurts the spirit of the Pokemon video game franchise. I know it's a online simulator but for some reason it plays like a bootleg to some extent anyway.

I think in Gen VI Nintendo and Game Freak really need to improve Wi-Fi Battles a bit more to where If you're doing a Wi-Fi Battle/Trade that your Internet Connection doesn't shutdown temporarily. I've always found that to be very annoying but I'm pretty much used to it by now and I've also noticed that when I'm battling someone from the U.S. on GTS that my Wi-Fi Connection sometimes goes off to where I'm stuck battling more Pokemon players in Japan than in the United States or in Europe. As for any other pet peeves I have about the Pokemon Video Games, the only thing that would get me to quit playing them is If Game Freak decides to not allow players to transfer Pokemon from Gen V to Gen VI and they'd be fools not to do so for X & Y or they'd lose money on the 3DS badly. Pokemon is pretty much the sole video game franchise by Nintendo that's keeping the 3DS afloat and part of the reason for this is because alot of the good games for the 3DS in Japan are region locked to where they're never imported to the United States.

This is why I would never mind someone using AR to bump up their Pokemon to LV100 in Gen 5 when squaring off against me...because, seriously, it's a pain. I don't do it myself, but I can understand people's feelings.

Jeez, every time someone brings something up I remember I dislike it. Heck, the Flat Battle was the one thing I wanted them to fix when they went over to BW2...but they didn't. Gen 4 allowed auto-lv100 fights. They were doing it right.
No one worth mentioning likes LV50 Singles or Doubles except potentially in VGC scenarios. They're just too fast and not fun.

I agree and I hope Game Freak will make those needed fixes you mentioned for Gen 6 which is already being hyped up to be a pretty good Pokemon main video game series thus far. The graphics and gameplay look absolutely amazing for the 3DS and I hope it does well when it's released worldwide later this year. Still makes me wonder how they'll cram 649+ Pokemon in a new series of games but when it comes to Nintendo and Game Freak I can't rule anything out.

If you haven't already noticed I'm against pirating video games online but I can understand the reason for doing so If it's scarce and hard to find, I may have went a bit too far in a previous statement I made earlier that I deleted from my previous post about Nintendo and Game Freak possibly filing lawsuits against creators of Pokemon bootlegs and for that I greatly apologize for. So If anyone on these forums took offense to that again I apologize. As for any other pet peeves I can't seem to think of any at the moment.

I don't see why playing Pokemon Blue or Silver on my smartphone bothers you. I would love to play in my GBA instead had it still saved. I would much rather use a real system than some touch screen phone but I ain't got much of a choice.

Also I have begging for a Eshop Virtual Console for those games but they kept releasing lame games I have no interest in...

That and STILL having to sort Pokemon in my boxes manually. Some automatic sort functions would be nice.
Agreed. I sort my legendaries by Pokédex number, so every time I catch a new one,Registeel for example, I have to move about half of the legendaries one space just to make space for that big fat metal golem that sounds like a Transformer.

TECHNICALLY, though off-topic, when you buy a game you are not buying the game but rather the license to use the software. It is similar to purchasing a DVD, you merely purchasing viewing rights. Same with emulators, although it IS illegal to copy the bios but that is another topic. So, if you purchased Pokemon Blue, for example, you can emulate it because purchasing it gave you the rights to. However, this is a grey line in terms of legality.

Not exactly a pet peeve for the games themselves, but advertisements for said games.
Some people just put no effort whatsoever into advertisements.

don, I don't see any problems with the second picture.
Is the first one a joke or something? Treecko, Croagunk and Shinx aren't even main characters.

One thing that drives me crazy is hen people mispronounce Pokémon names. I hate how everyone keeps on called Kyurem Kairem.

The first one is an actual advertisement.

The second is awful. The background is an eyesore and things aren't even perfectly centered.

It's the official magazine, It's from Future who make Nintendo Magazine. I myself am not overjoyed by the design, I think it's their waying of saving money, they demo the magazine for a few issues and if it sells they improve ( I hope ).

That advert kind of fails, as kids will either buy the game thinking Charmander is a Grass Type, or they'll stay away from it because that ad makes it look like a Chinese bootleg.
