RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

Okay, now that I'm back, I should be able to start updating this again.

I updated the map, and added a whole bunch of movesets:
Frish line
Splafin line
Nymphoak line
Flawn line
Shimki line
Biweak line
Bellind line
Aeromon line
Aerosun line

That means that the movesets are now filled in up to #108, Maraunt. As always, please check them out and make suggestions. Of particular note, since the Flawn line has so far always been portrayed with Physical attacks, despite having a higher Special Attack, I went full-in with the Physical attacks and just assumed the attack stats were reversed.

Granyx Peak is still in development, and I'll have that up tomorrow or possibly the day after.

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

Cool, glad to see that everyone's back on board!

I do want to talk about the "Alpine cluster" right now, since I think it's our main question mark when it comes to the design and pacing of this region. [10] and [13] each refer to a fairly well-known city in Europe - Geneva (world-renowned as a site of international peace) and Budapest (an up-and-coming artistic and scientific capital). I also think it's neat that together with [08], they form an equilateral triangle with no routes linking them together - maybe they could each have a statue in the city that refers to this trinity?

In terms of pacing, though, there's two interesting things about this cluster of areas. The most obvious is that, judging from X/Y's example, this would be roughly the time in the story that Megas first come into the picture. Though, only a small number of Megas could be accessible due to evolution restrictions, specifically Chapin, Agressect, Selilon, Leoroar, or Ballaspark. The other interesting thing is that the player would only have access to 3 HMs (Rock Smash, Surf, and Fly), so it could be a neat place to add additional content that's accessible once the player gets Charge, or Rock Climb, or other late-game HMs.

That aside, things are looking pretty together over most of the map. Whenever you're designing an area, try to keep in mind if the player got a new HM recently they might want to show off - <18>, for example, occurs right after the player gets Incinerate, so that could be a neat dungeon idea. Based on the location, I think the [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Forest]Red Forest[/link] would be a cool inspiration that can show off that mechanic, but maybe I'm thinking a bit dark for Pokémon.

I did make one map change, I moved Route B23 southwards so that it no longer connects [31] to <34>. I'd love to see an area dedicated to Seikoshi in <34>, which is why I made it disconnected, so that it could, for example, represent a point far to the north off the edge of the map, if desired. I'd especially love to see Steffenka, as Seikoshi's creator and a man capable of unexpected inspirations, design the idea for it, but that's just me.

Still, glad to see that everyone's still making time for this now that school's back in session, and we're so close to finishing an interesting and unexpected region!

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread!

Okay, I've been talking about this one for way too long, it's time to finally sit down and get it all together. Also, mad props to Reggie for his work on Treis Castle and Ancient Shrine, these big dungeons are an endurance test and a half.

Jutting out of the middle of Route B20, in the middle of a strait of water cutting through the route, is the forbidding shape of Granyx Peak. There is no way to simply surf onto the Peak; instead, you have to Dive under the surface of the water, and surface inside the middle of the pillar. Granyx Peak is completely optional, and you can surf all the way around it to continue onto the next city without being stopped.

All visitors are welcome, provided you do not disrupt the meditations of others.

At the exit of the atrium, you are, however, disturbed. Josey recently traded her Mikoprinaly for a new Pokémon, and she's ready to test it on you:

At the very top, the final challenge is waiting, but so is Josey. She complains that the master will not challenge her, as it is not yet time to battle. When she says so, she is interrupted by Louka, who, upon seeing your arrival, is now ready to battle you:

Louka
150px-VSOlympia.png

Conductor
Louka is the leader of the Granyx Peak monastery, and her connection with her Phlarenix is said to be unrivaled. Once defeated, she allows you to access the bells at the mountain summit, and will demonstrate an extra special gift. Because computers and other technology is not allowed to be installed in Granyx Peak, she has trained her Phlarenix to fetch Pokémon from afar for the members of her order. If you talk to her, she will allow you to access your computer boxes and exchange Pokémon.

After the battle, Louka commends your patience in developing your Pokémon, and regrets that the heir to the secret of Mega Evolution lacks your skills. Josey is offended at first, but realizes that you've defeated her on several occasions. She asks Louka if she may be allowed to train at the monastery, an offer which Louka accepts. Josey then gives you the Thundogite, claiming that, as a symbol of her impatience and readiness to cut corners, she shouldn't have it anymore.

Josey remains at Granyx Peak for the remainder of the game.

The Bells of Granyx Peak:
The bells bear a pair of plaques that help explain how they are meant to be used:

There is music in every name. Pokémon know that better than us.

Are Pokémon with similar names doomed to sing a similar song?

On the bells themselves is sheet music, with the following set of notes:
A, B, C, G, F, E (these notes are written as sheet music notes, but also marked with their letters).

When you interact with the bells, it will play a six-note sequence based on the Pokémon in your party. For every Pokémon you have with a name that begins with A, B, C, D, E, F, or G, it plays the accompanying note; for every Pokémon with a name that begins with H-Z, it plays the same sour note. You must arrange your party to match the sequence of notes (for example, Aviapor, Brutauox, Chapin, Glytch, Flarie♀, Embird). Note that you can exchange Pokémon by talking to Louka, who is right next to the bells.

Once the bells have been played correctly, Terralord will burrow its way out from under the ground. Louka will remind you that he will stay there, now, regardless of who is in your party, and ask if you want to exchange Pokémon before the fight.

Terralord Lv 50
zygarde.gif

Rock Wrecker, Extremespeed, Thousand Voices, Giga Impact

Note: I want to change Terralord's type to Rock, instead of Ground, meaning that his Terrilate Ability would also change Normal moves to Rock, instead of Ground. I know that's kind of a weird request, but it specifically relates to the Thousand moves - since Aerolord and Florilord don't get STAB from their signature moves, it's a little weird that Terralord would.

Thousand Voices
Type: Ground/Special
Base Power: 90
Accuracy: 100
Power Points: 10
The user resonates the earth with the voices of all those who have sung to it throughout the years. Hits through Substitute, Protect, and Detect. Blocked by Soundproof.

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

Thank you so much for answering my challenge! I think I learned a thing or two about requesting people to do things on this thread...it's kind of a "be careful what you wish for" situation, because while I'm so pleased to have it, asking you to do work you might not want to is kind of rude.

Now that all the legendaries have appeared in Baloncé, I've updated the moveset post with movesets for each of them. These are, quite intentionally, crazy movesets with a lot going on, especially Seikoshi. These are some of the most important Pokémon in the game, so hopefully you guys can catch something I missed on them.

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

I have an idea for the Seikoshi storyline, but I'm not sure if everyone's gonna be okay with it ^^'

*Slightly editing the Purifighter/Fightark storyline*

When the battle starts, Fightark/Purifighter calls forth Maragon, causing your Pokémon to de-fuse, and it to take on its Armor form (This also means that you cannot Abso-Fuse again under any circumstances and lose Maragon until you capture Armor Fightark/Purifighter, at which point it resumes existing with the same stats as before). The battle will be interrupted by Seikoshi appearing, "calming" the attacking legendary down (Since it's balancing between good and evil, as well as life and death). Seikoshi will then "steal" the nexus stone from Fightark/Purifighter, which then causes it to revert back to their original forme. Then the Fightark/Purifighter will suddenly attack you, and you have to catch it. When Fightark/Purifighter has been caught, Seikoshi will disappear leaving the Nexus Stone behind. It will then appear in its cave in the Baloncé Wastelands.

When arriving in Seikoshis cave, you have the choice to take out you Nexus Stone due to it letting out a strange aura. If you do, the Armor Seikoshi will appear when you battle Seikoshi. If you don't a normal Seikoshi will appear.

I couldn'd find an animated xy sprite for Armor Seikoshi :(
The tails end up as the "collar" around its "belly", and it gains a more noble appearence.

Let me know if this idea can be used, it was the only thing I could come up with :)

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

I'll admit, at first I was a bit skeptical, but I think the idea is really neat, and gives Seikoshi the ability to become the linchpin of many different trios: Purotenshi-Kuraskamai-Seikoshi (its basic trio), Purifighter-Fightark-Seikoshi (Armor Forme trio), and Maragon-Mysteriguard-Seikoshi (Nexus Stone control trio). I updated Seikoshi's moveset so that it learns Detect at level 80, instead of Geomancy (it had enough signature moves, anyway), which means it can get in on the King's Shield thing like the other two when it Abso-Fuses. Again, great work, and I think it really gives Seikoshi a very strong presence in the mythology of the region.

I do have one problem with it, but it's a little thing, and it happens right here:
steffenka said:
When battling, your Fightark/Purifighter will be weakened until, you have to flee due to Armor Fightark/Purifighter being too strong.
The problem I have is that it's unclear what causes the battle to end - obviously, there's no way to guarantee that Armor Fightark/Purifighter will be too strong, since your Purifighter/Fightark might be higher in level, or unless we use the logic from the Mega Lucario fight, you could switch in something with a type advantage. So I would like a more precise definition, even if the blurb remains the same; maybe that battle uses the logic of a trainer battle (i.e. you can't throw a ball), rather than a wild encounter, and automatically ends if either your Fightark/Purifighter or your opponent is reduced to below 1/3rd HP (even if that means fainting), the battle ends and it moves onto the next event?

Just to discuss my end, lately I've become very enamored with Joustamp and Ammonink, seeing as they both evolve in a similar manner and gain a Fighting type in doing so, so I've been working on better movesets for both of them, as well as finally an identity for [08]: Frescourse City, a city devoted to its mythical daytime protector (Joustamp) and its nighttime (Ammonink), where Fighting-types reign, and day and night take on distinctly different tones.

Also movesets. I'm looking to have movesets done by the end of the week, but I've hit a bit of a snag: Robopoke and Glytch. My method of doing movesets is methodical and precise, and it doesn't account for a Glytch in the system. Known moves are Tri Attack, Psychic, Extreme Speed, and Protect, but Psychic and Protect are TM moves, and therefore optional. Glytch is a stone evolution, but doesn't have a bad excuse for breaking all the rules. So if anyone's interested in taking on this extremely unique challenge, I'd be very grateful.

EDIT: Finished the Squink/Ammonink and Joustamp/Genishell moveset remodels. Here's the old and new side by side, to show what changed:

Squink and Ammonink lost a few moves, because their lists were some of the bloated ones I threw in early on, but it's still largely the same concept with them. Genishell and Joustamp's old lists were only slight variations on Shelmet's and Escavalier's actual lists, so now they get a real list that's largely inspired by drawing parallels with Squink and Ammonink, as well as better recognizing the types they actually are than the last one. There's also a new move in here, Tag Team, which is meant to be their signature move as a pair:

Tag Team
Type: Fighting/Status
Base Power: --
Accuracy: --
Power Points: 10
Increases Attack by one stage, and decreases Defense by one stage. Then switches places with a party Pokémon, passing along any stat changes.

I agree with you its a problem. I'm changing it to this: The battle will be interrupted by Seikoshi appearing, "calming" the attacking legendary down.

Trying to collect all Gym Leaders, The Elite 4 and The Champion here ;)

Gym Leaders

August:
Gym Leader
150px-VSAce_Trainer_M.png

Pokémon:
Spear-Row level 12
spearow.gif

Tackle/Peck/Leer/Protect

Screambat level 12
zubat.gif

Headbutt/Leech Life/Growl/Protect

Mothem level 14
@Oran Berry
venomoth.gif

Gust/Tackle/Stun Spore/Protect

After the match, August gives out TM 17 (Protect) and the Gale Badge

Extra Info: August is the first gym leader. He is a serious trainer who has a serious love for flying types. When he is off duty, he is friendly and loves to joke around with his friends. However, he leaves it off the field, and is very serious as a gym leader. He is usually the first gym leader people face, and if they win, they will receive the Gale Badge and TM 17 for Protect.

Azra
150px-VSFurisode_Girl_3.png

Gym Leader

Pokémon:
Fireptile Lv 16
helioptile.gif

Flame Charge, Metal Claw, Smokescreen, Ember

Cubbage Lv 17
pansage.gif

Flame Charge, Bullet Seed, Sunny Day, Play Nice

Leoroar level 16
@Metronome
pyroar.gif

Flame Charge, Bite, Roar, Agility

Extra Info: The second Gym Leader, Azra of Dreamix City, may have recently catapulted to international stardom as a recording artist, but she still retains her shy personality, and is often surprised when she is asked for battles, rather than autographs. She grants the TM for Flame Charge and the Spice Badge. When competing in the Pokémon Musical, she often fields an entry of her own, usually her Leoroar, but leaves the hosting duties to more outgoing members of her community.

Marty
Spr_B2W2_Dancer.png

Gym Leader
Chapin (lv 20)

Jump Slam, Charm, Tail Slap, Agility

Tsuyunch (lv 20)
machoke.gif

Jump Slam, Karate Chop, Focus Energy, Arm Thrust

Tailiash (lv.23)
mewtwo-megay.gif

Tail Slap, Jump Slam, Bulk Up, Whiplash

Marty is the leader of the *not sure what town/city it is* Gym. He loves to dance in his spare time, and has frequently won dancing competitions all over the world. His physique is very important to him; this is partly why he likes Fighting types. He has a cheery personality, but when it gets down to it he gets serious.
When defeated, he gives out the Judo Badge and the TM for Jump Slam.
Hope you don't mind me switching out Force Palm for Jump Slam on Tsuyunch Goomy

Eisen

Gym Leader

Pokémon:
Dustmite level 27
328.gif

Gyro Ball, U-turn, Metal Claw, Razor Wind

Suraimutuf♀ level 26

Gyro Ball, Aqua Jet, Acid Armor, Muddy Water

Belltect level 29
@Lum Berry
bronzong.gif

Gyro Ball, Trick Room, Hyper Voice, Thunder Wave

Jiniesh level 27
hoopa.gif

Gyro Ball, Slash, Fake Out, Hex

Extra Info: The fourth Gym Leader, Eisen of Symmachine City, is the youngest person to have ever led the gym, after it was decided that the new leader should have been born after the city was unified. He tends to act old for his age, but often slips up and uses large words incorrectly. He grants the TM for Gyro Ball, and the Alloy Badge. Whenever there's a sale at either of the local department stores, he usually tries to find an excuse to leave the gym early and stock up.

Marina
VSClair.png
Spr_B2W2_Clair.png

Water type Gym Leader
Pokémon:

Ammonink lv.30
omastar.gif

Scald, Rock Blast, Spikes, Stealth Rock

Gorgeel lv. 30 (ability: Competitive)
gorebyss.gif

Draining Kiss, Scald, Aqua Ring, Soak

Mantaspor lv.34
mantine.gif

Scald, Rain Dance, Mist, Aqua Ring

Extra Info: Marina is the leader of the Water Gym, and whilst she has skill, if she wins she can get quite cocky about it. However, the reverse is also true; if she continuously loses she will start to question her ability. She runs the Coastide City Gym; out of the gym she likes to swim and dive; she partakes in Mantaspor races which she is skilled in.
She is very truthful, and can get an honest answer out of anyone and hates liars. During the story, she has a few encounters with the villainous team which end in her favour.
When defeated, she gives the Tide Badge and the TM for Scald.

Trisha
18.png

Gym Leader
Pokémon:
Thundog level 45
arcanine.gif

Thunderbolt/Power Up Punch/Mega Punch/Superpower

Raister level 45

Thunderbolt/Bullet Punch/Bug Buzz/Swords Dance

Volzard level 48
@Sitrus Berry
heliolisk.gif

Thunderbolt/Flamethrower/Solar Beam/Parabola Charge

Extra Info: Trisha is the Electric Type Gym Leader of Grenergy City. She is the 7th and second to last gym leader. If defeated, she gives out the TM to Thunderbolt and the Plasma Badge. She also runs the power plant by Grenergy city that is committed to using clean and green energy with the help of Pokémon. There are rumors that a legendary Pokémon (our main legendaries whose names are too long for me to remember) lives underground near the power plant and is stealing the power for its preparation of emerging.

Gym Leader Frits

Pokémon:
Frosthund Lv. 47

regice.gif

Moveset: Ice Beam, Ice Punch, Shadow Ball, Freeze-Dry

Malevolice Lv. 49
@Sitrus Berry
articuno.gif

Moveset: Sky Drop, Ice Beam, Freeze Dry, Roost

Extra info: As the 7th Gym Leader and mayor of Tundrore City, Frits is an extremely busy man. When he's not battling challengers in his gym, giving out Frost Badges and TM110: Freeze-Dry, he's manufactoring the towns coal production, checking on the town economics and working on other projects around in the city. Despite his harsh look, Frits is actually an extremely loving man, willing to do everything for the town he was born and raised in.

Gym Leader Darwin
mugshot17.png

Malevoslug level 53

Trick/Sludge Bomb/Sucker Punch/Foul Play

Varmgoyle level 53

Shadare level 55
@Dark Gem

Sucker Punch/Dark Pulse/Shadow Ball/Taunt

Extra Info: Darwin is a mysterious gym leader, and not much is known about him. He has denied rumors that he works for Team Shadow, even though he seems to hate the Punk Kids with a passion. He gives out the Night Badge and TM102 Sucker Punch when defeated.

The Elite 4

Sherbert

Moveset: Earthquake, Needle Arm, Recover, Destiny Bond

Slurpalm Lv. 65

Giga Drain, Grassy Terrain, Leaf Storm, Thunderbolt

Extra info: Sherbert has gained his passion of food from his cousin Siebold. When Sherbert was young, he and Siebold would often cook together, and when Sherbert grew older and started battling, he used Grass type Pokemon, because of their unique aromas. It was these aromas that inspired him to open his first restaurant in Symmachine City, where he now resides when he's not battling as the first Elite 4 member. When battled Sherbert will give you a Power Herb as a thank you for showing him som new aromas, and when you arrive in his restaurant, there will be a new course on the menu called "The *Insert In-Game Name Here*".

Lilah

Elite Four

Pokémon:

Malevoslug Level 65
muk.gif

@Toxic Orb
Trick, Gunk Shot, Memento, Minimize

The second member of the Elite Four, Lilah and Electrica both grew up in Grenergy City, as childhood rivals. While Electrica went on to change her city, Lilah instead became a formidable battler, specializing in the Poison-type Pokémon that lived there in her youth. She tends to be rather informal with challengers, and is always amused that they have something in common: Having defeated Electrica.

Balsa

Moveset: Return, Bounce, Dizzy Punch, Substitute

Bulaow♀ Lv. 65
@Chesto Berry
miltank.gif

Giga Impact, Wake-Up Slap, Protect, Rest

Extra info: Balsa eschews the theatrics of his fellow Elite Four members; instead of a costume, he dresses very casually, and uses simple bonsai and tatami mats over more dramatic props. His demeanor varies depending on the BST of the first Pokémon in the player's party; if the BST is less than 500, he is warm and congratulatory. If the BST is 500-599, he is fairly aloof and indifferent. If the BST is 600+, he is aggressive and confrontational. This calculation occurs every time he is fought, so it is possible to encounter different behaviors from him during rematches.

Trixie

426.gif

Moveset: Will-O-Wisp, Phantom Force, Play Rough, Fairy Lock

Mooslime Lv. 65
cresselia.gif

Moveset: Dazzling Gleam, Moonblast, Flash Cannon, Steel Wing

Extra Info: Trixie is the fourth Elite 4 member you'll encounter. Despite her rather dark appearence, she is actually very sweet and gentle, and she loves Fairy types. Trixie will do anything to make the battles she battle entertaining, and she may even once in a while switch out a Pokemon for another. She overtook the place of Stephen, when he left the Elite 4.

Moveset: Hurricane, Fire Blast, Dragon Pulse, Hyper Beam

@Xamatinite
darkrai.gif

Moveset: Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, Shadow Ball, Aura Sphere

Extra Info: The champion of Baloncé, Reggie specializes in Ghost Type Pokémon. However, he does has his trusty Shiny Draferno as well. His main Pokémon is Xamatter, which is 4 levels above most of his Pokémon. In his past time, Reggie is a smart and friendly scientist who is obsessed with the mysteries of ghost type Pokémon. Him and his Pokémon have a close bond with each other which allows Reggie to access mega evolution.

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

I'd rather like to be the person to close out the Elite Four...a Normal Elite Four member is just plain strange, which is exactly why it's what I'm going with.

I know that non-linear Elite Fours have been a staple of the game since BW, which is exactly why I want to buck the trend and feature a linear Elite Four again. Rather than each member having his or her own chamber, it would instead take place on a single large stage with an audience, like the Nimbasa City Musical Hall. After each member is defeated, they leave the stage, the lights go black, and when they come back on the next member appears, with a new set of props to give the stage their unique flair. As the Champion, Reggie is still entitled to have his own separate chamber away from the standard arena. But the idea of doing the Elite Four this way is to make them seem more like a show, as opposed to a strange rite of passage that occurs hidden from the public eye, as they usually are.

Also, if I had to say what order I think they should show up in, I think Sherbert, Zihir, Balsa, Pixie, Reggie is the most balanced order, in terms of both types and personalities.

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

I've always had problems with the TM list order; it made enough sense, back in Red and Blue when they were done in the order they were programmed into the game, but every subsequent game has continued to expand onto the same apparently random sequence. Now that TMs display as "TM35 Flamethrower" rather than just "TM35," I think it makes sense to shuffle the numbers of our alternate universe's TMs, as long as it serves a purpose.

This list was created with a few specific rules in mind. One, every move that's been described as being on a TM so far had to be in here. Two, each type was given a share of TM slots representing a compromise between their canon number of TMs and an even distribution across all types - so types with a very small number of TMs have more, but still less than those that normally have a lot. The third rule is that every type must have at least one Physical, Special, and Status move on the TM list.

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

Can I suggest name changes for some of the Gym Leaders and E4? Gym Leaders pretty much always have names that accurately communicate their type specialization with a pun and are either currently existing names (ex:Brock), are variations of actual names (Elesa is an edited Alyssa) or sound like they could be actual first or last names (Siebold, Wikstrom, Wake, Wulfric, etc.). I feel most of the current Balonce leaders/e4 don't really meet this requirement. Here's what I was thinking

Dan -> Gus / Gustav / August. I can't really think of what the name Dan has to do with Flying types, while these suggestions are all puns on the word gust.

Azra -> Charlotte (as in char). I guess Azra is supposed to come from blaze, but it really doesn't communicate the typing, while I feel Charlotte does that very well. I could be missing something, as Azra sounds pretty random to me. I had no idea that this was an actual name before I googled it, lol.

Sumi -> Martin/Marty (as in martial arts). Sumi sounds japanese, but I googled it and found nothing related to the fighting type, and again, it doesn't communicate fightnig type very well/doesn't sound like an actual name. I'm probably missing something behind the reasoning for this name. On an unrelated note, I like the dancer sprite for a fighting type gym leader, but I think it would look better as a trainer with a portrait like the rest of the ones chosen to be leaders/e4 so we don't have the odd one out.

Eisen is good, but it doesn't really communicate the type without a google search or knowledge of German. Maybe Allen (as in alloy) instead?

Marina is probably the best one and it definitely sounds like it would be a pokemon character, The /problem/ is that it actually already is. Marina is the name of a character in the Legend of Thunder anime special and is the counterpart to the female pc in Crystal like Jimmy is to Gold. If we want to avoid using the name of an already existing character, then I think Chelsea (as in sea) would work. An option I like is making her be the same character as the anime one and having this Marina be an older version of her.

Electica -> Tessa. I don't mean this in a rude way, but I feel Electica is uncreative. It's just taking electric, removing the r, and adding an a to the end. It doesn't sound like a name, nor something I could see in a Pokemon game. I would be cool with minor changes to a word to make it a name (such as Brock, Misty, etc), but Electica doesn't sound like anything I could ever see anyone realistically name their child. Tessa is both an actual name and comes from Nikola Tesla/his invention the Tesla Coil. Making her Nikola or some variation like Nichole would be good, too.

I like Frits and Darwin, though. Those definitely sound like something I could see Game Freak doing next generation. Now for e4:

Sherbert fits his flavor well, and I guess it could be a grass pun because it's similar to shrub. I don't really see the name of a frozen dairy treat being an elite four member though (blah blah blah actual names blah blah blah you know the deal by now). I think it's okay to stay, but I do think Leif would be better for a Grass trainer cuz blah blah actual names.

Zihir -> Belladonna. Belladonna is nightshade which is pretty much the most noteworthy poisonous plant. If I hadn't googled Zihir, I would've assumed it was supposed to come from zephyr or whoever came up with it just finished watching Korra season 3. blah blah actual names blah. There are a lot of poisonous plants, fungi, animals, substances, etc that could make decent names such as Galerina (poisonous mushroom), Ivy, Holly, Melanie (Melanthiaceae), Cassandra (cassava), Anthra (add an x at the end), etc. Some of these might fight grass better.

Balsa -> Larry (as in regular). Balsa feels much more fitting for a Grass trainer than Normal. I could very well be missing something though. Is it because his room has bonsai and tatami? The type of decorations he uses doesn't really seem like enough to decide his name, imo, plus neither of those are balsa wood afaik. also muh actual names and all that

Pixie -> Trixie. I don't mean this to be rude, either, but pixie is even less creative than Electica. If I can get only one name changed, I'd like it to be this one lol. I feel like this is the equivalent of naming a Ghost type trainer "Ghoul", a Dragon trainer "Wyvern", a Grass trainer "Plant"...you get my point. Trixie is an actual name and happens to be minorly different from Pixie. If Trixie won't work, then Silvia/Sylvia/Anisse (a nisse is apparently some sort of fairy-like creature) would all be cool with me, and they're all real names.

I was looking up synonyms for plant on google, and its actually a play on herb(s) :)
I didn't want it to be sherbet, for obvious reasons, so I thought hmm, Sherbert might work, and it did :D

I really like Trixie! When I was coming up with names, the only name I could think of was Pixie, inspired by Pixie Lott, but I really like your suggestions! In Scandinavia (at least in Denmark) a "Nisse" is kinda like the American elfs is what I think theyre called? They basically just help Santa getting ready for christmas, wrapping gifts etc. :)

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

Sorry for not being available a lot, high school is harder than ever!

I like August for the first gym leader's name, I want to keep Electrica though.

EDIT: You think that Leif is an OK name but not Plant? LOL
