Project Pokemon Shuffle - The Pokedex 2.0 Region Thread!

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

New movesets again - Robopoke line, Lagomood line, Hedgea line, Fleap line, Pusense line, Tailiash line, Mischitty line, Embheat line, and Screepet line. Only 18 Pokémon remain, specifically those from 181-198.

I do want to bring attention to what I ended up doing for Glytch...I think it was a fairly healthy resolution to my writer's block on the matter. Also, I hope you guys like hitting B:

Sorry for not being available a lot, high school is harder than ever!

I like August for the first gym leader's name, I want to keep Electrica though.

EDIT: You think that Leif is an OK name but not Plant? LOL

I think its because Leif is an actual name whereas Plant is just.... plant xD

Maybe Electrica could be shortened to Tricia? It makes it less of 'this is just a word with a vowel slapped on the end' and makes it an actual name.

@Cinesra, I thought of Sumi as a reference to Sumo, but I think that your suggestion, Marty fits much better.

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

Know the feeling Reggie ;)

Updated the TM/HM list and the Gym/Elite 4 names!

Also could this be the VS Screen for Marty?

Totally didn't find it on the internet and coloured it, what are you talking about..? ^^;

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

Here's my idea for Super Glitch

Super Glitch
Normal
BP: 150 Acc: 70
PP: 1
Makes each of your opponent' non active Pokémon lose 25% of their health. Has a 10% chance of inflicting a random status condition on the next Pokémon your opponent sends in.
"The user creates a glitch that malfunction's the opponent's Pokeballs, damaging the opponent's Pokémon even if they aren't in battle"

I actually like Trisha as the Electric Gym leader's name. Let's go with that.

Also, I didn't know that Lief was a legitimate name xD

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

Real-World Location: Rome
Resembles: Anistar City

The seaside city of dueling destinies, Frescourse City is home to the third gym, Marty's Fighting gym, as well as an ancient legend. During the day, the skies are always clear and sunny, while a light drizzle covers the city at night.

The city was first founded by two men, using their Pokémon, a Immalive, and an Ammonink. The man with the Immalive was immediately popular, and chosen as the first mayor of the city, even though the man with the Ammonink did more work. In the middle of the night, in a fit of jealousy, the man with the Ammonink challenged the other to a battle; the winner would become mayor and inherit the other's property, while the loser was exiled from the city and lost everything. The two fought for hours, but by sunrise, neither of their heavily defensive Pokémon had defeated the other. They decided to call it a draw, and the man with the Immalive became mayor during the day, and the man with the Ammonink, mayor of the night. Even in modern times, the people of Frescourse City honor this arrangement, as do Immalive and Ammonink themselves; Mhask only evolve during the day, and Squink only evolve during the night, in recognition of their ancestors.

Notable Features:
Bicycle Shop
Duel Fountain
Night & Day Café
Triangle Marker
Frescourse City Gym

Bicycle Shop
The Bicycle Shop is decorated with posters showing the beauty of Thalassa Road, the cycling bridge over Route B7, south of the city. Although you don't need a bicycle to cross B7, you could surf, a bicycle lets you do it in style. The shop manager immediately asks if he's met you before, soon realizing that he's met your father, who lent him a bicycle years before; he repays the debt by giving you a Bicycle.

Duel Fountain
The massive fountain on the north side of town is set up to honor the two men who founded the city. During the day, it is open to the air, while a canopy is set up around it at night to protect it from the rain. Day or night, there is a cloud of tourists and vendors around it, as well as one of the city's mayors.

During the day, that mayor, an old man, wishes to see a Mhask with potential. If you bring him one with an Attack IV of 25 or higher, he gives you a Life Essence. During the night, the other mayor, a young woman, asks for a fast and cunning Squink. If you show her a Squink with a Speed IV of 25 or higher, she gives you a Spiral Shell.

Item Vendor:
Black Belt - 10,000P
Metal Coat - 10,000P (Day only)
Sharp Beak - 10,000P (Day only)
Silk Scarf - 10,000P (Day only)
Mystic Water - 10,000P (Night only)
Black Glasses - 10,000P (Night only)
Twisted Spoon - 10,000P (Night only)

The first time you visit the fountain, you meet a girl who is followed everywhere by a Feracat. She introduces herself to you:
Josey
VSSabrina.png

Pokémon Trainer
Josey is a girl from a workshop up in the mountains; years ago, her family discovered a secret that, if in the wrong hands, could change the power balance of Baloncé, so her parents entrusted that secret to Marty for safekeeping. Obviously, she doesn't tell you all this right off the bat, but she is frustrated that Marty is off at the circus, instead of attending to his duties. After introducing herself and complaining, she runs off.

Night & Day Café
Like everything else in Frescourse City, this café stays open 24/7 by having a day shift and a night shift. The day shift sells sweet drinks that can be bought once per day for 700P to increase your first Pokémon's happiness. The night shift sells bitter drinks for 500P that are said to increase character - the decrease the happiness of your first Pokémon.

After you defeat Marty, an old woman appears at the café. She mentions she was a survivor of the crash of the S.S. Athena, on Route B6, many years ago, but in all this time she was never able to find her locket, a family heirloom. The ship on Route B6 is too damaged to enter, but it is surrounded by rock pillars; one with a crack in it. If investigated, it reveals a hidden key item: the Feather Locket (If you go to the pillar before meeting the woman, the Feather Locket will still be there). Return it to her and she grants you the HM02, Fly.

Triangle Marker
At the northeast end of the city, next to the sea, is a Triangle Marker, representing Frescourse's connection with two other cities. The man next to it introduces himself as one of three members of Triangle Club. First rule of Triangle Club: tell everyone about Triangle Club! The other two members know the other two rules.

He asks to see a particularly triangular Pokémon: Tribee. If you show it to him, he gives you the TM for Explosion. But then he points out it's just one point in a bigger triangle; he also wants to see Stingee and Honqueeyn. If you show him Stingee, he gives you the TM for Poison Jab; if you show him Honqueeyn, he gives you the TM for Play Rough. Once he's given you all three Physical TMs, he tells you to find the other Triangle Club members to get the Status and Special TMs.

Frescourse City Gym
Upon first visiting the Frescourse City Gym, the attendant is outside the front door; no one may enter, as the Gym Leader Marty is out investigating the Imago Circus. If one wishes to challenge the Gym, they must first go south and find him there.

After completing Imago Circus, you can come back and challenge the gym. While Frescourse City is built around Immalive and Ammonink, its Gym is devoted to a different pair of night-and-day Pokémon: Whiphurl and Pompunch.

In the lobby, the attendant will show you a massive coin bearing the likeness of Pompunch on one side and Whiphurl on the other. In every room of the gym, you'll have to spin a coin, and see if it comes up fists or tails. He spins the coin for you, and the lights rapidly brighten and dim while it's spinning; if it lands on fists, the lights fully brighten and a door marked with fists opens, if it's tails, the room darkens and a door marked with tails opens.

The coins are completely random; the game calculates which one will happen on the fly. The next room will always look the same, regardless of which side came up on the coin, but the team of the trainer inside will be different.

So, I've been working so hard on moves I've been completely neglecting the thread...so I'll try to catch up with a few of the locations I've been working on.

Also, regarding your Super Glitch suggestion, there's definitely some great ideas there. The 150/70/1 split for the stats is brilliant, though I am concerned about the power level - it's a STAB move for a Pokémon with a strong Special Atk, and if you lead with Glytch with a Leppa Berry for an item, provided you miraculously survive to a second turn, you can take out nearly half your opponent's team's health, crippling them all match. Granted, this stuff is never going to be used in competitive play anyway, but it does seem like a cheesy way to take down any of the Elite Four. So...maybe if it did this:

Super Glitch
Normal/Special
Power: 150
Accuracy: 70
PP: 1
Causes a glitch in your opponent's Pokéballs, switching their Pokémon out for a random one in their party. That Pokémon takes the damage from this attack, including a 30% chance of a random status ailment. This Pokémon must recharge next turn.

Since Glytch's other signature is like Storm Throw, this one is kind of like Circle Throw, and it wraps in the random status condition effect you suggested, which was the primary inspiration for the change. Plus it's a decent move to throw out if the opponent is walling you with a Ghost and you figure whatever's next isn't a Ghost.

That's all I can do for today, but I've obviously got a circus adventure cooked up to come next, and a big update revealing the secret of Mega Evolution to the player.

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

Sorry to go so out of order when there's so much going on, but all this talk about names gave me an idea I wanted to pursue for the Elite Four:

Real-World Location: Athens
Resembles: White Forest (W2 version)

Ultimoak City is a Pokémon League with a twist: rather than constructing a facility, the designers painstakingly grew and crafted a lasting edifice to the greatest trainers in Baloncé.

At the base of the tree is a modest city, with a Pokémon Center and a few houses, much like any other. The real star attraction of Ultimoak is the tree itself, a Victory Road and Pokémon League all in one.

On the ground floor, there is an elevator leading upwards within the tree. You can take the elevator to the stands on the 10th floor anytime you want, but in order to get to the stage and experience the Pokémon League for real, you have to take the stairs. The entrance to the stairs is guarded by a man who makes sure you have the Gale Badge. Once that verification is complete, you can enter Victory Road.

Victory Road spans the 2nd to 8th floors of the treehollow; at the end of each, you will once more be asked to show one of the region's badges. You can use the elevator to freely traverse any floor of Victory Road you've already completed. (Victory Road will be detailed in another post).

The 9th floor is the goalpost at last: the grand stage of the Pokémon League. Above and around you are your cheering fans, among them Rival, Josey, Stephen, and Professor Willow, who shout out words of encouragement to you as you start. Above them are the Elite Four, on a platform with a giant bulb on it. Each of them touch the bulb, causing it to bloom into a massive, golden, four-petaled flower. Then, the whole arena goes dark.

(All Elite Four teams can be found in [link=http://www.pokebeach.com/forums/thread-pokedex-2-0-region-thread?pid=2661432#pid2661432]this post[/link])

150px_black_white_cilan_by_steffenka-d7yrxgo.png

When the lights come back on, the stage has been filled with an orchard of berries. As the first Elite Four member, the Grass master Sherbert steps on stage, the berries release brightly coloured clouds of beautiful aromas. He asks you to savor the aromas, just as he plans to savor the interesting battle that's ahead of him.

VSFantina.png

After his defeat, he leaves the stage, and the first of the four petals drops off of the giant blossom. The lights go out again, and when they return, the stage is decorated in many lilies, all white as snow. As the second Elite Four, Poison-type Lilah steps on the stage, they turn a variety of purple and red hues, as she laughs that, while they are beloved as symbols of peace and romance, they are also extremely toxic, a reminder that beauty is only skin deep. With her defeat, a second petal falls, and the stage transitions again.

250px-Omega_Ruby_Alpha_Sapphire_Professor_Birch_zpscf22f1d9.png

The third member, Balsa, arrives with very little fanfare. His stage is minimalist, with only a single bonsai and a few tatami mats. When he steps onto it, it does not change. His responses differ depending on what Pokémon the player is using (see his team description for more details).

VSArgenta.png

Only one petal remains, as the last Elite Four member takes to the stage. When the lights come back for her, they only come back partially, leaving her stage in silhouette; it appears to be a café scene, with no organic components. When she steps into it, will-o-wisps light the stage, proving that the furniture is entirely woven from blooming, fibrous orchids. Fairy-type Trixie is proud of her trick garden, but credits the plants, rather than her own skill, for making the illusion so precise.

Once the final petal falls, the platform that once hosted the Elite Flower is now laid bare, revealing that the flower was covering the elevator. The player can now take it down to the basement, where a single, small, boat awaits, to go to Champion's Isle. On the Isle, there's no crowds, simply a one-on-one match between Champion and challenger to prove who truly deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. (Champion's Isle will be detailed in another post).

And, that's the plan for that. I revived the Champion's Isle idea from Steffenka's original design, because I felt Reggie deserved the chance to carve out his own staging for his own battle. But, what do you guys think? Is the 100% organic Pokémon League a fresh take, or a little too weird for its own good?

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

Thanks Amp! Here's my idea for the champion's isle.

When you complete the elite four, you will walk down an isle. Just a plain isle with stone on the sides. You'll then enter a huge room. It looks like your home. You then meet Reggie, who says its a room he created that changes based on the people in the room's feelings. Reggie asks you what it is to be like to have finally been here. He asks how your views have changed on everything since you have started your journey. He tells the player that if he wants to beat Reggie he will have to search his feelings to find the answer. Suddenly, the room changes to a lightning storm, and the match begins

http://http://google.com/.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/colress-pls-135-artwork.png

When defeated, Reggie takes you to the hall of fame, where you see pictures of the former champions, including Drac. The first picture on the list is a picture of a trainer named AZ. Reggie adds your picture to the hall of fame and records your Pokémon He will also give you the key to the Champion's Village, where you can go through a black tower/white forest battle system there. The head of the Champion's Village is Jonas, Drac's son. More info coming soon!

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

I love the Champion's Village idea, but do you think it could be on spot <32>? Optionally with a different name, not because there's anything wrong with the original name, but because it's a bit bizarre to have it so far away from the original. The only reason why I ask is because that'd be an amazing spot to put a post-game endurance battle area like that, in terms of geographic pacing.

EDIT: Updated the map with new areas and added Steffenka's suggestions to Eventoil City.

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

All right, so I've got a thing I have to confess to, and it's pretty terrible, bordering on mutinous even, but I've got to come out and say it:

I'm having problems with Solaria.

Solaria's a great idea, but somehow just doesn't quite fit in...I see Mega Solaria, Mega Fightape, and Mega Groshark together, and everything is awesome. But then I see regular Solaria with those two, and...it's just not quite right. I know I created the problem, since I requested the changes to the starters to begin with, but I just have this disturbing impression that Solaria can't quite appeal the way they can.

So I do have a compromise, and I hope you're willing to keep an open mind and look at it.

This story opens with one of [link=http://www.pokebeach.com/forums/thread-pokedex-2-0-pokemon-with-different-types-and-evolutionary-lines-completed?pid=2643232#pid2643232]GadgetJax[/link]'s submissions to the Pokédex thread. I loved the Bellossom-Lilligant idea, it even appeared in multiple submissions, so I was kind of sad not to see one in the final list. Lilligant is on par with Simisear for intresting-ness, and I felt it could transition fairly logically into Florges. So I created this starterized version of the line:

This is the last request of this kind I plan on making; afterwards, I'll be too invested in the current lineup with movesets and other details to make any more massive changes.

#001 Sproutune
Sprout Pokémon
hoppip.gif

Basic Pokémon
Grass
Ability: Overgrow (HA: Own Tempo)
Stats: 65/45/35/55/40/70 Total: 310
Slow music can help it think better, while upbeat rhythms heighten its combat capabilities.

Evolves from Sproutune at level 15
Grass
Ability: Overgrow (HA: Own Tempo)
Stats: 90/55/45/80/55/80 Total: 405
It can dance for a seemingly indefinite period of time, as long as it's entertaining to other Pokémon.

Moveset:
1,TACKLE,1,CONFIDE,1,TEETERDANCE,3,CONFIDE,7,TEETERDANCE,9,GRASSWHISTLE,13,DISARMINGVOICE,15,QUIVERDANCE,18,WISH,21,MAGICALLEAF,24,HYPERVOICE,29,JUMPKICK,32,ZENHEADBUTT,37,PETALDANCE,40,MIRACLEEYE,45,RELICSONG

Evolves from Petalythm at level 35
Grass/Psychic
Ability: Overgrow (HA: Own Tempo)
Stats: 120/75/60/100/80/90 Total: 525
The massive flower on its head grants it great intelligence, allowing it to merge thought and sound into beautifully devastating attacks.

Moveset:
1,TRICKROOM,1,MAGICROOM,1,WONDERROOM,1,TACKLE,1,CONFIDE,1,TEETERDANCE,1,GRASSWHISTLE,3,CONFIDE,7,TEETERDANCE,9,GRASSWHISTLE,13,DISARMINGVOICE,15,QUIVERDANCE,18,WISH,21,MAGICALLEAF,24,HYPERVOICE,29,JUMPKICK,32,ZENHEADBUTT,35,PETALDANCE,40,PSYSHOCK,46,MIRACLEEYE,51,FUTURESIGHT,54,RELICSONG

#003a Mega Melodonna
Blooming Pokemon
florges-orange.gif

Mega evolves from Melodonna with the Melodonite
Grass/Psychic
Ability: Air Lock
Stats: 120/75/60/180/110/80 Total: 625
Extra Info: Its Special Attack and Special Defense gain large boosts at the cost of a lower speed.
The massive flower on its head grants it great intelligence, allowing it to merge thought and sound into beautifully devastating attacks.

The new Pokémon has a flashier moveset, including a legitimate signature move in Relic Song, which, given that no Pokémon in this game changes form with an attack (Maybe Mysteriguard?), doesn't create a conflict. But more importantly, I think it stands out a lot better.

Now, naturally, there's two big issues about changing the starter this far in. One is, would you be interested in keeping its final two stages as a two stage line, replacing Nateer/Mysteer? The deers wouldn't be completely forgotten, as they'd survive within Melodonna's new typing and the similar Flawn/Buckchill/Frozentler line.

Just to clarify my position, that'd look like this:

#194 Cotonfly
Cotton Flower Pokémon
skiploom.gif

Basic Pokémon
Grass
Ability: Solar Power/Serene Grace (HA: Drought)
Stats: 60/40/50/75/60/60 Total: 345
It absorbs the sun's energy with its flower. If this Pokémon is sick, sunlight can cure it.

Moveset:
1,TACKLE,1,GROWTH,4,ABSORB,7,VINEWHIP,10,LEECHSEED,13,WORRYSEED,16,MEGADRAIN,20,CONFUSERAY,24,SUNNYDAY,28,BULLETSEED,32,RAGEPOWDER,36,WISH,41,DOUBLEEDGE,46,LEAFSTORM,51,SOLARBEAM

#195 Solaria
Sunflower Pokemon
sunflora.gif

Evolves from Cotonfly by using a Sun Stone
Grass/Fire
Ability: Solar Power/Serene Grace (HA: Drought)
Stats: 100/60/52/123/75/85 Total: 495
The flower on its head has grown larger, letting it absorb more sunlight. It is stronger during the daytime.

Moveset:
1,BULLETSEED,1,MEGADRAIN,1,AROMATHERAPY,1,DOUBLEEDGE,37,PETALBLIZZARD,47,MORNINGSUN,57,SOLARBEAM

The other, more pressing issue, is that there's a lot of changes that would need to happen to existing posts. I've got a library of them and suggested changes, I just need to know if you'd rather have Flowton/Solaria or Nateer/Mysteer before I make my suggestions. As to the cards, those are the easiest; since Solaria-EX doesn't exist yet, the other existing cards can just be image/title swapped and still make sense.

EDIT AGAIN: I edited the Arioso Glassworks post to reflect its new location on the map, and its new place in the Mega Evolution story. I think it's kind of a funny coincidence that the post I put it in is the one where I first implied Josey's existence. Her name is a pun on "chosen," since she fulfills that same "chosen one" role that Korrina did, as well as reflects her association with cats (Josie and the Pussycats).

And here I am all alone with a single Route B15 *Insert sad/dramatic music here while reading through the rest of this post*

Route B15
Connecting the Safari Zone to *location 18*, Route B15 highly stands out of the area, with its desert look. It's unknown how all of the sand appeared in the middle of anything, but its often thought to have been created by Terralord a long time ago. Scientists are often out here searching for answers to why this desert even exist in the first place.

Don't worry, it's not at all sad! We wouldn't have a region at all without the Routes, and I think it's really impressive that you like to work on them...I'm pretty terrible at Routes myself, but I'm trying to get myself to do B6 and B7, since that's my corner of the globe right now. I'm very happy that you're keeping up with these, and keep up the good work!

Also, thank you for checking my work there on two accounts. Not only was ignoring Ballaspark's Skill Link a serious gaffe, I had misspelled Autotomize, so it wasn't showing up when I did the analytics on the moves. Thanks for catching it!

Anyway, here's my Dustmite/Ballaspark fix. It's got a deplorable lack of status moves, but...it'll Status in the TMs or Egg Moves, or something:

EDIT: Every moveset is in right now except for #194 and #195.

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

I have an idea for town nr. 31 :D

Stearing Town
Resembles: Lavaridge Town
Known for its hot springs and delightful mudbaths, Stearing Town is a tourist attraction with roots in multiple cities. The coal used to heat up the water comes from Tundrore City, the salt, used in their famous saltbaths, comes from Coastide City and the spices put into the water comes from Sherberts Restaurant in Symmachine City. Stearing town is also known for its newly built Battle Frontier, which trainers from far and close come to try out.

[Note: The Battle Factory can only be battled after the player has completed the Champion's Isle]

Notable Places:
Pokemon Center
Battle Frontier
Boutique Couture (Basically the same as in Lumiose)
Herboriste

Herboriste
A small shop in Stearing Town that sells herbal medicine. The owner of the shop hand plucks them in his garden, where smaller Pokemon, the shop owner takes care of, also live.

Battle Frontier
Unlike any other, the Battle Frontier features only one facility: The Battle Tower. In the Battle Tower, a trainer must fight their way through each floor, battling trainers stronger than any other in the entire Region. On every 10th floor is a strong trainer, awaiting a fun battle against the player. There's 60 floors in the Tower, one trainer on each floor. Each trainer will use 3 Pokemon when battling, including the player.

The following Pokemon are not allowed in this facility

  • Aerolord
    Floralord
    Terralord
    Purotenshi
    Kuraskamai
    Purifighter

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

I love the new city, Steffenka...it sounds like you and Reggie are both planning a battle facility type area. Maybe you guys should go in together on it and do an area with your characters and his rules?

Now, I just want to take a brief aside to talk about moves. With all the TMs and movesets in place, there's a lot we can say about moves now, and a lot that's potentially interesting about them.

First, here's the plan for the Shard Move Tutors. They're largely the B2W2 set, but some moves are no longer offered, as they are now TMs, and any move that was removed from TM or HM is now available through them. Because of the influx of new moves, a new Shard, Violet, is provided. If you feel I've put something in the wrong cost tier, please let me know!

Blue Shards:
1 - Last Resort
1 - Embargo
1 - Cut
2 - Block
2 - Pluck
2 - Magnet Rise
3 - Iron Tail
3 - Aqua Tail
3 - Psych Up
4 - Superpower
4 - Foul Play
4 - Gravity

Green Shards:
1 - Worry Seed
1 - Gastro Acid
1 - Telekinesis
2 - Spite
2 - After You
2 - Recycle
3 - Trick
3 - Wonder Room
3 - Magic Room
4 - Stealth Rock
4 - Snatch
4 - Skill Swap

Red Shards:
1 - Bounce
1 - Bug Bite
1 - Covet
2 - Iron Head
2 - Super Fang
2 - Low Kick
3 - Dual Chop
3 - Gunk Shot
3 - Megahorn
4 - Fire Punch
4 - Ice Punch
4 - Thunder Punch

Violet Shards:
1 - Nature Power
1 - Round
1 - Snore
2 - Hyper Voice
2 - Grass Knot
2 - Snarl
3 - Signal Beam
3 - Uproar
3 - Electroweb
4 - Heat Wave
4 - Hydro Pump
4 - Icy Wind

Yellow Shards:
1 - Bind
1 - Flash
1 - Knock Off
2 - Endeavor
2 - Façade
2 - Heal Bell
3 - Smack Down
3 - Synthesis
3 - Tri Attack
4 - Outrage
4 - Pain Split
4 - Sky Attack

Okay, now for the actual findings of the survey.

The following moves are only learnable by TM or HM:
Dive (HM08)
Incinerate (HM06)
Strength (HM04)
Surf (HM03)
Charge Beam (TM18)
Focus Blast (TM29)
Infestation (TM01)
Jump Slam (TM30)
Scald (TM108)

The following moves are only learnable by Move Tutor:
Freeze Shock (Biweak/Malevolice)
Ice Burn (Biweak/Malevolice)
Dark Pledge (Damakit line)
Triple Cross (Brutauox)
Draco Meteor (Dragon tutor)
Chakra Burst (Puncharite)
Fight Pledge (Pankid line)
Blast Burn (Fightape)
Fire Pledge (Flamape line)
Lovely Kiss (Flarie, Heart trim)
Frenzy Plant (Solaria)
Grass Pledge (Cotonfly line)

Psy Pledge (Psigic line)
Electroweb (Violet, 3 Shards)
Hydro Cannon (Groshark)
Water Pledge (Waterk line)
Flash (Yellow, 1 Shard)
Façade (Yellow, 2 Shards)

Finally, the following moves are not learnable at all. If you're a fan of one of these moves and would hate to see it go, suggest a Pokémon that should learn it!
Switcheroo

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

I hate to say it, but I like the original Solaria idea more. Sunflora -> Florges is too perfect to not use no matter what D:

Champion's Village

Located at [location coming soon], Champion's Village is where you can fight other elite trainers that have been the champion or fight elite trainers from other regions. You can go through the Champion's Challenge where you try to go through a maze filled with popular trainers. There are 5 levels of the maze, and at the last level you can fight Jonas. [Note: You do get experience, which makes this different from the battle factor]

All right, thank you for the reply, I appreciate it, and I changed Aerogon's moveset as requested. That being the case, I've got a plan B that I hope is a fair trade - you get to keep Solaria as designed, I get to keep my Bellossom-Lilligant line with the Relic Song moveset, and the only trainer who has to change teams is Sherbert:

Extra info: Sherbert has gained his passion of food from his cousin Siebold. When Sherbert was young, he and Siebold would often cook together, and when Sherbert grew older and started battling, he used Grass type Pokemon, because of their unique aromas. It was these aromas that inspired him to open his first restaurant in Symmachine City, where he now resides when he's not battling as the first Elite 4 member. When battled Sherbert will give you a Power Herb as a thank you for showing him som new aromas, and when you arrive in his restaurant, there will be a new course on the menu called "The *Insert In-Game Name Here*".

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

Amper is it possible for you to add a few more Psychic-type moves to the Trianglegg line or at least Triglitate and Jettrian, since the only damaging Psychic move they can learn is Psybeam ^^'
I would suggest: Zen Headbutt, Luster Purge (Male), Psychic, Mist Ball (Female) and Psycho Boost.

I would suggest: Zen Headbutt, Luster Purge (Male), Psychic, Mist Ball (Female) and Psycho Boost.

I took Safeguard, Dragon Pulse, and Calm Mind, all moves they can learn from TMs, off their lists, and put in Psychic, Stored Power, and Future Sight instead. Despite the fact that most Pokémon retained the signature moves of the Pokémon they resemble, I didn't want to do that with the Triangle line, because they had already been pegged as support by their association with Togepi/Togetic, and because, while I've introduced male/female movesets for a number of Pokémon in the region, Jettrian doesn't get its gender distinction until after it uses a stone, at which point the limitations of the post-stone moveset make having gender separated movesets impractical. Mysteriguard has Mist Ball as a signature, but Luster Purge remains unused, so I might be swayed to use that one, with good reason.

Jettrian
1,SKYATTACK,1,EXTREMESPEED,1,AURASPHERE,1,HEALINGWISH,1,PSYCHIC,1,CHARM,1,METRONOME,1,SWEETKISS

As to the Desert Temple, neat start, it's in a location that was associated with the "vanishing" nomadic cultures of the Near East, so it's actually a pretty smart design, overall. Just keep in mind where it is and how that relates to geographic pacing - the player would have just received Strength as their last HM, and eventually they will have to go back through there again to another part blocked off by Rock Climb.

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

So, Reggie, Steffenka, sorry that I've been pressuring the two of you to try to force your Champion's Village and Battle Tower to be one location, but it's because I want to make sure that this project is doable. I'm not sure what your endgame is, but I'm hoping that we could actually turn this into a real fangame (I've got programming and graphic experience, so it's not a complete pipe dream). Unfortunately, that does carry some limitations - specifically, that we need to make sure not to design more game than we can follow through on, and also, people will have less patience for a fangame than an official one, so of the very few players that make it to the postgame, it's a gamble that they'd be interested in doing two different long-form battle facilities.

So, here's my pitch for a location that combines elements of both of your designs. I hope you guys like it, because my goal was to resolve multiple postgame needs within a single area:

After completing the Hall of Fame, your mother (father? Maybe you live with a single father in this game, instead?) hands you an envelope, containing an invitation from Reggie. It's an invitation to test out his latest invention, the Battle Nexus, a state-of-the art facility devoted to exploring the mysteries of Mega Evolution through combat.

Battle Nexus
Real World Location: Globen Arena, Stockholm
Resembles: Battle Factory (HGSS), Black City (Black Version)

At Symmachine City, you can board a train to this globe-shaped complex built on an island in the sea. Unlike the organic Pokémon League, the inside is mechanical and digital, with pulsing lights and devices everywhere. No one is allowed at the Battle Nexus without some sort of Mega Evolution activator. On first arriving in the lobby, you meet your Rival, who has also just arrived; he looks forward to meeting you on the inside, and runs off.

To take the Battle Nexus Challenge, you must select a party of three Pokémon. One of them must be holding a Mega Stone. Purotenshi, Kuraskamai, Maragon, Purifighter, Fightark, Seikoshi, and Mysteriguard are not allowed.

Once you enter, you are taken to a room that resembles the old-style trading rooms - you and another trainer both sit across from each other at a pair of computer consoles. The first time this trainer is always Rival, but there are a total of 13 possible trainers, and the challenge you get it chosen randomly. The Battle Nexus challenge occurs between two trainers; however, using the technology Reggie developed and implemented on Champion's Isle, the machine sets a stage that makes it appear as if there's substantially more.

Each challenge consists of 6 maps, each of which resembles a small version of the Black City exterior, complete with fog and dark skyscrapers with bright lights. Each map has 2-5 houses on it, and every edge of the map is blocked off. Your task is to progress through these maps to find your opponent in the sixth map, without fainting or depleting your resources too much on the way. You cannot use items from your bag, but you do gain experience, even though most of the battles are illusions.

Each house can contain one of a number of things:
-A trainer. The trainer has a name indicative of which map you are on (i.e. starting with A, B, C, D, E, or F), and will challenge you to either Single Battle, Rotation Battle, or Triple Battle.
-A Hiker. He will ask if you have a certain medicine item; even though you cannot use medicines in this challenge, you can trade them to him for a Type Gem.
-A Nurse. She will heal your Pokémon to full health. There are two of these in every challenge.
-A Team Shadow Grunt. He will either Sleep or Paralyze the first Pokémon in your party. He will only paralyze it if there is also a Nurse on the same map.
-An Owner. He will give you a completely random Berry, including rare berries like Liechi or Kee.
-A Door. These houses will generally have a trainer in addition to this feature. The door is on the other end of the room, and goes outside to the next map.

Once you go through the door at the end of the last map, you come to a stage where you are face to face with the person you took the challenge with. If you defeat them successfully, the simulation cuts out and you are returned to reality; then, using the data collected from the battle, it replicates the Mega Stone used by your opponent. If you've already collected that Mega Stone, it instead gives you 3 Shards, with the color depending on the trainer.

Possible opponents (teams appear in separate spoiler below):

Rival: Solarinite, Fightapite, or Grosharkite (1st time); 3 Red Shards (all subsequent times)
Josey: Leorite or Selilite (1st time); 3 Green Shards (all subsequent times)
Baird: Gold Wing
Skjald: Lunar Wing
Caspian: Fire Stone and Moon Stone
Amethyst: Fluffy Feather
Julian: Life Essence
Paula: Rock Spire
Noira: Magic Orb

Floyd: Glitched Stone
Stephen: Lucky Punch
Drac: Aerogonite (1st time); 3 Yellow Shards (all subsequent times)
Reggie: Xamatinite (1st time); 3 Violet Shards (all subsequent times)

Note: Rival and Josey have the same team regardless of your choices, but only have one Mega Stone. Whichever Stone they give at the end is that same as that stone.

The other 12 Mega Stones not part of the Battle Nexus should probably all be attainable prior to entering the Hall of Fame. These stones are:
Stones with known locations:
Starter Mega Stone - Obtained from Professor Willow at Symmachine City
Leorite/Selilite - Obtained at Arioso Glassworks
Mantasite - Coastide City
Deserulite - Desert Temple
Frozentlite - Icy Cave (instead of Hailordinite)
Amphixite - Safari Zone, Marsh Biome

Possible locations for other stones:
Weak Starter Mega Stone - Reward from Professor Willow on gaining catch data for all 18 starter species (#001-009, 026-034)
Ballasparkite - Reward from Professor Willow for seeing 100 Pokémon
Aggresite - Given by a repentant Floyd in Tundrore City (post-Ancient Shrine, optional encounter)
Accelite - Appears in Zalem City P.D. dropbox after reporting three crimes
Chapinite - Victory Road
Moosmite - Route B17

And, also, my proposal for the 25th Mega Evolution, because it was too obvious not to want to propose:

#091 Mega Frozentler
Blizzard Deer Pokemon
xerneas-active.gif

Evolves from Frozentler using the Frozentlite
Grass/Ice
Ability: Rainbow Spear - Powers up moves of a different type than this Pokémon's by 30%.
Stats: 90/150/110/40/120/130 Total: 640
This Pokemon's impressive antlers are made of ice. It's feet can instantly freeze any thing they stand on. It's ice powers are so strong, poachers stay away from herds containing one of these Pokemon due to fear of getting frozen.

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

I really like your idea Amper! :D

And the Mega as well, though I have a tiny suggestion:
Instead of this sprite:
xerneas-active.gif

What about this sprite?
xerneas-active.gif

It gives a little more icy feel to it as well :)

I also plan on making a collection on Mega Evolutions, like the Strong Trainers, and since we "only" have 25 Mega Evoltions out of 102 fully evolved Pokemon, I was wondering if we could have about 30-32 Mega Evolutions (including the ones already made). This would mean that we need 5-7 more Megas. Now I know some of you propably are a little skeptic about the amount of Megas, but considering Hoenn has 18 Megas to native Pokemon (incl. Lati@s), which is 13,3% of the dex, propably more to come, I think its okay to have around 32 megas, which is 14,1% of the dex.

Candidates I have for Megas from our dex are:

  • Kraboon
    Robopoke
    Petalue*
Drafly (If a potential Mega Flygon debuts within ORAS)
    Mothem
    Saland
    Ovorphan*
    Thundog

Ideas:

Mega Petalue
whimsicott.gif

Fairy/Grass
Ability: Effect Spore
Stats: 70/45/90/130/150/60 Total: 545

Mega Ovorphan
weezing.gif

Fairy/Ghost
Ability: Shadow Tag
Stats: 100/5/85/105/95/135 Total: 525

And a new Genishell form

Genishell Genie Form
hoopa.gif

Steel/Psychic
Stats: 65/35/44/166/45/130 Total: 485
*Gains the moves: Wish, Cosmic Power, Doom Desire & Hyperspace Hole
(Moves can not be changed while in this form)
*Changes forms when holding the Magic Orb (Key Item)

I also don't think all the other Mega Stones should be available before entering the Hall of Fame. If I remember correct only the Kanto starter stone, the Gengarite and the Amharosite are available before entering the Hall of Fame, so I think it should be the starter stone, the Leorite/Selilite and the Ballasparkite. The rest should be available after entering the Hall of Fame, though I think the locations for them are good :)
Didn't like Mega Trancharus so I removed it. If anyone wants to see it back, please notify me and I'llput it back.

RE: Pokedex 2.0 - Region Thread

Thought I should elaborate on a character I've developed. I'll do Drac and Floyd soon.

The Rival (Default name: Mattieu)

LucasChallenge.png

You and the Rival have known each other for many friends. His main goal is to catch every Pokémon (He does end up obtaining the final starter forms when you battle him at the Battle Nexus) He also wants to use his knowledge on the Pokémon he has caught to become a Pokémon professor.
