Possible Deck Archetypes coming out of the new Dragon Sets?

By the time this card comes out, Raikou EX will also be out. In my opinion, Garbodor's largest threat will be Raikou EX because it gets OHKO'd by the 100 damage snipe.

Except he has to have a Pokemon Tool attached to him in order for his ability to work...which one do you think he's going to have? either Rescue Scarf or Giant Cloak, both of which will help against a Raikou EX snipe. Giant Cloak puts him out of OHKO range, and Scarf puts him back in their hand, so they can evolve the turn after if they have another Trubbish, or two turns if they don't.

^ Cloak and Scarf are the Tools that make the snipe not as effective as theorized. Either waste the energy to KO Garbodor which can then be rescued, or snipe it without KO-ing it.

Garbodor-Zebstrika seems like a deck worth trying even if its just theorymon right now.

Sounds like a very disruptive deck...I almost said Gothitelle/Garbodor lol...

Raikou EX doesnt ruin Garbodor-Zebstrika at all. Zebstrika can still utilize trainers, like crushing hammer, catcher, pluspower, switch, the extra hp scarf for Garbodor, etc. It would be close, but If the ZebGarbodor, sets up a terrakion EX, which is a possible tech, they can run through Eels. If you run ZebGarbodor, you would KO Tynamos/Eels ASAP, then use techs like Mewtwo EX/Terrakion EX etc to beast. Eels are the first Kos Zeb will make, while keeping the lock on. Eels can't have consistent energies forever. Its a close matchup, it isn't an autowin for either side. I just want to point out that Raikou EX does not run through Garbodor.

Wouldn't Terrakion EX hurt your game by letting up trainer lock? Raikou EX doesn't run through Garbodor, but it is definitely a potential threat.

^ If you're whole gameplan is trainerlock you can't let up the lock for a single turn.

Well, if we're talking about Garbodor Zebstrika, your gameolan should be trainer lock as you need to keep it up since you have like no damage output

Yeah, but one turn of no lock can't possibly lose you the game. Unless they knock out each Zebstrika, Garbodor you have in play, it isn't the biggest set back. Plus, Terrakion EX has only 3 retreat (lol) so it isn't that hard to get out of active when you need 3 energy to attack anyways.

Can we change the subject??? All I see it "Garbodor, Garbodor, Garbodor!"

I think that using the new Ampharos, with the Prime version would do well. MTC won't be able to attach the energy to Mewtwo, without hurting it (up to 60 damage with 3 primes, and 1 reg.) This would be a huge blow to MTC, making it twice as vulnerable to a powerful psychic type, as it already is.

Both Ampharos Prime and MTC (Celebi) will be out of rotation.

I don't really want them to change the subject. It is interesting to see other people's opinions on this interesting card.

Also, the Ampharos is probably going to see some play. This is because it kills MTC, like you said. Also, you calculated the damage they take wrong. Remember that they use Forest Breath (Sometimes multiple) + they attach from their hand, making it 120-180 damage that Pokemon takes per turn.

they will just catcher around the regular Ampharos if they are serious about the damage. Its good, but since Ampharos prime is being rotated when the Dragon Blade or whatever Ampharos, it kinda goes down the drain. Eels goes through the ability too, because it comes from the discard not the hand, and Eels is a very very popular deck. I'm not putting your idea down, I actually kinda like Ampharos, but I don't see it being played heavily unless some card comes out that helps it tremendously.

For all we know, Ampharos could be in our next set. It's never too early to discuss the potential a card could have on this metagame as well as future ones.

And how exactly do you know that? We have released plenty of cards before the Japanese have even seen them! Not just that, but we don't have the same set lists as Japan, so there's a likely possibility that it could be in our next set.

In that case, the sets would be HGSS all the way to the dragon sets. as much as I would like that, it doesn't seem likely. R.I.P Collector.

That's assuming you have 4 stage 2's in play and they don't use one of the 8 "catchers" in their deck.

You do realize if you pair Dustox and ninetales together, your average damage output is 85? Just sayin

You can't do 85 in Pokemon!

Unless the Pokemon Tool Garbo has attached to him is Giant cloak...now they have to 2HKO him, and if a second one comes out then the lock stays. Also, if Zebstrika is constantly item-locking, Raikou's going to have a tough time recovering those energies, especially since they can't dynamotor. Heck, it's going to be difficult anyway without having dynamotor as a crutch.

Also, what about Drifblim as a tech against decks that run lots of special energy? You have that new item that discards special energy instead of them going to the lost zone, and after 3 of those you're doing 150 for 1 colorless.

Also kyurem ex. A fun deck would be kyurem ex drifblibm and crash hammer ( special energie smasher).
