Well I edited the first post with the new rule.....so it should have everything on there.....I hope to see some more pieces posted in the next few days....

A quick topic to share your thoughts on.....do you think that the time we give for the competitors to finish is too much?? We've been thinking of how long we've gave to do this, and that people are working hard and getting it done much sooner. I just dont know if we need all this time.....and for EVERY challenge, its gonna take forever. So whatta think about shortening the length of each challenge?

Well a shortining could make it go faster but I say see how fast the first challenge goes entry wise.

Considering the due date for the first challenge has been set, I think it is unfair to change THAT date. However, perhaps give them a certain amount of time on future challenges based on how hard it is?

I wasnt talking about THIS challenge.....I was thinking about the rest of the challenges.....I wouldnt change the date for the first challenge even if I could....I've already announced it. Plus, Aqua Smeargle needs the time.

Then I see no problems with making the dates different. Those who have turned in their peices have only said they took a few hours to do, so even three or four days would be more than sufficient time in some cases.

And i agree, making weekly challenges means we won't be done with this tournament for almost five months...I've got things to do in five months....college, to be exact.

Instead of just offering that one point, we've decided to add another option. If you turn it in early (before Thursday in Challenge #1, before Saturday in most others) you will have the option of:
A:Taking 1 point added to your Final Average score.
B:Get MY personal thoughts of the piece....includes things to fix, improve on, etc etc.

Also,please decide which of these you are choosing ASAP. Remember if you turn it in when its due, you will not get one of these benefits.

The one extra point is meaningless to me. I'd rather have feedback on my banner. The more I can improve on it, the more I'll be even happier about it. This banner is only the second one I've made with my new Photoshop CS3, so all the feedback I get will help me out a LOT.

This week I will probably NEED the week, midterms (super late thanks to teacher's strike). But other times it should be shorter, but the fan fic one for example could be longer

I think that the time length could be shortened, but I say to please leave enough time for people that prefer to improve their art from the feedback they recieve to do their thing. Sometimes, I think that trying to change something like into something better can consume some time trying to make such things work. Plus, the extra time sorta lets us think about our work more and think of our own ways to improve it that maybe we hadn't thought of before.

Like I said, by all means, feel free to shorten the length of work-time, but also take in consideration the above when thinking about how much to shorten it by. Also, as mentioned, I think Fanfics should be given a lot of time. After all, good plots and descriptions don't just come out of the blue. I should know, seeing as I have been pondering the future events of my own fanfic series.

Well as I've completed my first Feedback PM, I believe that new rules are in order.

The RULES FOR FEEDBACK!
  • Once you choose the Feedback option, I will send a PM with Pros and Cons, Comments, and a scoring rubric filled out by me of your current entry.
  • I will explain in detail about the challenge if needed, and elaborate anything I missed the first time around.
  • I will be FWD'ing a copy of both my initial feedback AND a copy of your response and questions (If there are any) to all the judges.....For Wes1234, I did all but Aqua Smeargle, as that makes no sence (Meaning it'll be fixed by then.)

Now that thats made, let me go over what I can tell/do for everybody.
Public Rules
  • Answer questions regarding the rules
  • Answer questions about what the challenge means, but only once and not in detail.....I dont expect many to get the TRUE idea of this one, but most will be pretty self-explanatory from here on.

So Theres some more rules....like I said, Im just adding on when new things arise. Sorry for the wait on this....

Just make sure you read the entire thread.....I really have to stress this for everybody who misses anything.....the rules are changing as its before the 1st Challenge ends.....I'm trying to update all of it in the first post but I miss things too....

Torterra and Vileplume Image: Searched in Google
Background,Brushes,Effects ETC: Made effectively in GIMP, a art software
Font: Used Staccato 222 BT, Size 21

Description:
I picked the main color as green simply because, green represents the nature, and the real topic of the banner is nature. If anyone knows me, they might be saying *Whta's the connection of nature?*. To say the truth, I really love nature, I respect it very well, because it is what Mother Nature has given us.
Another aspect is of picking Torterra and Vileplume, it is simply because, they are my favorite grass or poison type. But, I don't really like Grass Types, but in reality, I have an Enviromentalistic mind (Made up word). The last aspect is the phrase *Mother Nature's Blessing*, it is because, she is the one who takes care of this, simply, every flora and fauna IS Mother Nature herself

Way I did it:

First, I did the 1st layer which is the background,with a Green to White Gradient then, I added the image of the Torterra and Vileplume, after, I made another layer, I used the 1st brush, which is *Sand Dunes*. I made another layer this time, I out up Sparkle Brushes surrounding the 2 pokemon I have chosen, after, ANOTHER layer with Galaxy AP. After! Another Layer, this time with the brush called *Confetti*, Once finished, I added the text then smudged everything a little. And last but not the least is making the border of the image...

TADAA! My entry for the contest! Which I call:
Nature's Beauty!

There was supposed to be a 2nd draft, if it's alright, can I post it too?

BTW:I would like to pick the latter (B) because I am quite noobish in making arts.

Description:
This banner reflect all about me and about my artistry. First, Cherrim, I picked her because for me, she represent cuteness (pinkness) and smartness (grass type is green and green is smartness). These two factors are the most important when making an art. Next, the text, that's my motto as an artist, " Art is a Blast ", for me, it means that Art is something that blossoms for a small amount of time before withering away. Art is beauty that lasts for just a moment. Just like Cherrim, she blooms only for a small amount of time (when it's sunny) and soon will turn again into a useless stuff (when there's no sun).

PM'd with Feedback.....and your 2nd draft will have to be submitted.....thats what the feedbacks for. To fix the mistakes and turn in a final product.

PLEASE NOTE: Once I give feedback, you MAY NOT get another choice of perks, as you've already recieved the privilage....so 1 PER Challenge. Also, once you turn in an edited one (after the feedback PM/just wanted to edit) you can not re-do it anymore.....2 chances.

A Baxter-You didnt signify weather you want A or B.....you did turn it in early so you get one or the other :]

So, here you go, something a lot better:

In creating this, I used methods in my work I wouldn't normaly use.
I decided to create an avatar that showed my team. I used, rather than the best possible team, the team I would love to have.
I used the Blend tool in the Gimp to create the blended background on the frames. By using Alpha To Selection and Growing by 6 Pixels, then filling on a layer underneath, I created the coloured outline.
I used the text Pokemon Solid, which is my favourite, by using the Text Tool in the Gimp.
I got the Ken Sugimori artwork from Pokebeach, and I don't think we need links to that!
It did not take me very long to create the avatar, maybey an hour, but I spent a lot of time thinking about how to lay out the avatar, so I spent longer really.
