SSB Brawl Discussion Thread

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Guys please keep this thread alive. It will not die as long as I live or the forums live.:)

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Here are some of my refined Target Test records. They are not world-record caliber, not by a long shot (seeing the world record of Peach's level 1 Target Test shattered any hopes of ever coming close), but you guys can try to beat them (or post your own records if you already have, or if you have times you'd like to post).

I have saved replays of all of these records except one, so if you'd like to see them, post your Wii code... or whatever. I'm still not entirely sure how to send replays to other people, as I've only done it once.

Level 1
Mario: 12.88
Zero Suit Samus: 10.50
Fox: 8.58
Ike: 15.00
Ivysaur: 11.50
Luigi: 12.26
Peach: 13.08
Yoshi: 12.81
King Dedede: 12.93
Wolf: 10.30
Lucas: 12.53
Olimar: 10.40
R.O.B.: 9.20

Level 2
Fox: 8.43
King Dedede: 12.40
Wolf: 9.51 (This is the only one I don't have a replay of)
R.O.B.: 8.23

Level 3
R.O.B.: 13.91
King Dedede: 14.70

Level 4
R.O.B.: 17.66

Level 5
R.O.B.: 12.38

Here are some HRC records as well, all of which I have replays of:

Donkey Kong: 2171.2 ft
Samus: 2154.2 ft
Ike: 2126.7 ft
Pit: 1918.4 ft
Peach: 2043.5 ft (no bomb)
Yoshi: 2408.9 ft
Ice Climbers: 2368.3 ft
Wolf: 2223.9 ft
Ness: 2354.9 ft
Sonic: 1928.6 ft
Lucas: 2337.6 ft
Craptain Falcon: 2047.6 ft (no Falcon Punch)
Olimar: 2749.5 ft
R.O.B.: 1736.3 ft

I seriously have no idea what to do with R.O.B. ._.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Yeah, they're definately not world record calibur after seeing a four sec time.

dmaster out.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

None of R.O.B.'s records are that quick.

I felt pretty cool for scoring 12 seconds on level 5, and then I find the world record is 3 seconds quicker???? *sigh*

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

hehe try to beat the record then (8 sec FTW) and who says ROB cant be that quick? it is so possible (but not likely/very hard to do)
good job on the homerun records... wish i could learn the trick of how to do 2000+ feet with someone...

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

That's it. After looking at this thread, I'm officially moving my wii into my room and finding the time to play against you guys...although I'll suck at first >>

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

For the record, you need both the Wii Code (the thing that you get to send messages to other people's wii's in the Wii Menu) AND their brawl code to send replays. Once you have both, and both are validated, you will see the person's name appear in the send box when you go to send a replay.

The Wi-Fi REALLY irritates me, because I can't do many of the moves I would because lag makes the game miss a LOT of my input commands. Like, I can't do aerial moves with a short-hop, because the game isn't going quickly enough to respond to me doing that. Equally, it doesn't do dashes too well either -_-. If you guys could catch me "irl" at this, I'm a LOT better than I could ever be online... obviously still not the best ever, but I can do decently, unlike over the lag-infested Wi-Fi.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Tell me about it. I hate it when:
SH-aerials tuns into random smashes
Shields come out to late
Airdodges fail to dodge an attack
Chains of aerials miss not because your opponent airdodges but because your attack comes out ages too late at the wrong time
You miss the edge with your up-B/last jump because a lag spike makes the game register your input to late
You can't instantly do something after you did something because you're not sure it would hit, and when you see it hit, it takes another 10 seconds for your follow-up, grab attack, throw, grab, aerial, smash, rest to come out, possibly when it's too late
Rest misses because it goes from like 0 start-up frames to the amount of input lagframes
Camping is way too effective
smash spam actually works because you can't perfect shield/respond at the right time, and because the difference between lag for smashes + input lag isn't that different from lag from low-lag moves + input lag (15+25 compared to 5+25 isn't as much of a percential difference as 15 and 5)
and so on.

But I try to manage.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

You almost have to do a move way earlier than you're supposed to, just so it can hit at the right time. X_X

dmaster out.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Wow, this thread went on for more than two years! Smash Bros. Brawl is a great game. There are so many new characters, courses, events, and a story mode with cut scenes. It's great! :D

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Not quite two years, but... it's getting there.

What was the first brawl you ever did?

Mine was vs Amt. I played as Pokemon Trainer, with the Wii Remote only, at a stage I can't remember (either FD or DP), and I destroyed her.

I had one against my irl friend. Classic GC controller for me.

Guys please keep this thread alive. Thank You.:)

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Who do you guys think the most commonly used brawler is? I would say Lucas becuase if you look at the tourney we have going, 8 people have lucas and no other characterhas that many, what do you think?

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

MK.

Highest on the tiers list = most-used in tournaments

Ike and especially Sonic seem to have the biggest fan-base.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

The reason why sonic and Ike have the most is because they have recent games I believe.
Snake isn't one of the biggies due to fan-base wise because it's young snake.
As it was young snake who appeared in MGS 3, old snake has appeared in MGS 4 (Personally I think 3 ruled over 4)
Fox latest show up has been in star fox command and we sort of haven't seen him since that, of course he is popular because of his games but no recent ones.

But this is going way of topic
I am just saying that I think there fan-base is all dependent on games

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Sonic looks cool (but really isn't), which is why the kids like him.

IKE HAZ TEH SWORDZ, which is why the kids like him, also, he looks "tough" and fights for his friends.

Kids make up the majority of the character fan-base, therefore, they win in this category.

MK is broken.

Therefore, anyone who wants to have a shot at winning any tournament mains him or another high tier, but usually MK, even if it's just as a secondary.

So yeah, there you have it.

This is true, but if this is true then why isn't link fan-based
I mean he has swords and looks tough

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Link is a stupid girl, and Link's sword doesn't go WHABAM DEAD AT 40%
