SSB Brawl Discussion Thread

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Well, it depends. Are you talking about "best" as in lowest percentage, or best in relation to move lag?

First of all if you keep on referring to tilts as smashes, you are only going to confuse yourself.

Snake's up tilt is ridiculous, killing the lighter characters off the top at like, 85-90%. His forward smash, while laggy, is also a monster KO move, which can kill at around 30% depending on the stage, the character, and the charge. Uncharged it will kill almost everyone from the edge of FD at... I'd like to say 70%. Ike is the same way with his forward smash.

If you're not talking about the super-lag moves such as those, Warlock Punch, etc,. the following are good KO moves without too much lag, just to name a few:

- Rest (Jigglypuff's down B)
- Meta Knight's down smash
- Snake's AAA combo
- Fire Jump Punch (Luigi's up B)
- Luigi's forward smash
- Marth's forward smash (tipper)
- Mr. Game & Watch's down smash

There are obviously many, many more, but that's just a few. Lucario's killing moves don't happen unless he's at like, 100%+. A fully charged Aura Sphere can kill... I'd say that's his least laggy killing move.

Lol, I never once used Tilt as Smash... even I can differentiate that much... I'm not a total brawl n00b :(

Snake's Up Smash is quite good. As in, Up Smash, not Up Tilt. Both are good, really. 'Course, his Side Smash is a great Edgeguarding kill...

I find ROB's down Smash quite powerful, too.

Luigi's Up B? If you don't sweet spot it, IIRC you'll just end up helpless, waiting for punishment... right?

One of these days, you might end up Brawling with noobnerd... he plays Brawl on my Wii for fun...

I mentioned it because of this:

Lol, I know, but I called them that because of their high knockback.

Snake's up smash (and ROB's down smash) are good moves, yes, but not really good killing moves. Both of them have better things to do than try to kill with those attacks.

You are correct about Luigi's up B. If you're not touching them, you do 1 damage (if you even hit them) and then you will be punished. However... it's really one of the best killing moves in the game. It kills Jigglypuff off the top of FD at about 26%; it kills Dedede off the top of FD somewhere in the mid-50s.

I would love to brawl Noobnerd (or anyone). I will stomp him down and spam sonic's taunts at him. :D

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Fox's Up Smash deserves a mention on that list. Sure, it's no Rest, but it kills at similar ranges to those quoted for Snake's utilt.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Almost everyone has that good Killing move, Squirtle has A and up whis is really good, and there is also Ivysaur's A and Up which I love to use but it takes prediction and takes a while to charge up but is deadly.

And i have also noticed that I, a person who just loved Falco in Melee, now use Fox instead of Falco since Fox is a lot like the Melee Falco, but I do like to use Falco still sometimes. Anybody else notice this too?

I knew saying that would bring about confusion...

PMJ... wanna Brawl? Someday when NN's in my house and my Wi-Fi's on, why not have some fun thrashing some n00bs?

Btw, why Sonic's Taunts? Don't all Taunts do no damage whatsoever, except Luigi's Down Taunt (and someone else)? Come to think of it, can anyone show me a list of all Taunts that do damage?

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Snake's taunts do damage, and if you are playing on Shadow Moses Island, they do more knockback.

Luigi's down taunt does 1 damage and is a meteor smash. (If they are on the stage, they'll simply go straight up, but if they are hanging from the ledge, down they go)

I said spam Sonic's taunts because he talks:

YOU'RE TOO SLOW
YOU'RE TOO SLOW
YOU'RE TOO SLOW
YOU'RE TOO SLOW
YOU'RE TOO SLOW
YOU'RE TOO SLOW
COME ON STEP IT UP
COME ON STEP IT UP
COME ON STEP IT UP
COME ON STEP IT UP
COME ON STEP IT UP
COME ON STEP IT UP
COME ON STEP IT UP
COME ON STEP IT UP
COME ON STEP IT UP

It's really annoying. When I'm not stomping faces, I love a good tauntfest.

And yes. Fox's up smash. Ridiculous. Fox's best KO move by far.

Lol, IIRC Luigi's D Taunt does 2 % damage...

Snake's Box Taunt is dumb... what are the chances of it ever hitting the opponent?

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

I think I read that it got buffed to 3% somewhere...

Just make sure that when you're testing, it isn't affected by move decay (Well, the chances of it being affected by move decay are pretty small, but yeah...)

Fox's U-smash is like the only reason he's actually a hard match-up for the jiggs...
But Snake's U-tilt also has the most ridiculous hitbox ever, I mean, geez :S

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

I like Sonic's taunts. In battle though, you have to watch timing.

dmaster out.

Move decay? You mean the one where a move gets weaker after too much usage? Isn't that called 'Diminishing Returns'?

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Is it? I don't care about the official name they gave it...

Yes, every time you hit something (opponent, object, whatever) with a move, that move gets slightly weaker. Every new move (can be the same move as a move which is already on the list) you use moves a move back on the list of move decayed moves. This makes grab attacks and moves like Marth's f-B useful moves because they refresh your other moves.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

if u meet me online u will know its me.how? easy, look for the following: ducking three times(any char) gold ike darktoonLink, wolf, fox, falco using com link on Lylat cruise, snake on his own stage. mainly i mess around but play against me long enough and u will find out some pretty neat glitchs(providing u let me do them) how u can sig me to do the glitches just press down three times,it is 5:11 now so pm me if u want to c the glitches without interference(other ppl, coms and time limit)I just came back and dont spam moves it annoys me especially wolfs gun, btw onoccasion use wolf and ill use fox put wolfs barrier up and just watch. i will be playing today at 2:50 central daylight time or GMT lol happy brawling. btw plz be aware i also hate the following , repeated taunts, using the same move over and over, gang attacks, and quitters.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Guys please keep the thread alive. Thank you.:)

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

No problem.

I think I'm going to try and start using Link now for no good reason. My bro picked up Falcon, and so did I kinda (Falcon dittos <3), but unlike Falcon, Link actually has some potential. Link has always been that underdog that somehow one guy manages to beat like the best players of that time with. And like Marth and Jiggly, he really isn't just a character you can pick up and start owning with, but he's also no ICs, so yeah. Ike was fun, but a bit too confusing to use him and Marth. Zelda's still cool but kinda easy for some reason, and I hate recovering with her, because of the lack of freedom and easiness of it being edgeguarded. Ganon's just bad, sadly. So yeah, I'll see what happens.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

characters that I use and are the best at are the following:
Best with: Kirby/ Falco (depends who Im facing)
3rd: Game & Watch (side smash EXTREMELY over powered)
4th: Luigi (Smash ball + up B = instant ownage)
5th: Zero Suit Samus (stunning is epic)
5th: Samus (just because sometimes you have to use the smash ball)

Kirby Is my homie. He's been my favorite since N64 version. Falco laser spamming is pretty hilarious. Kirby edge suicides are also pretty epic.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Right now I just main Ness, Falcon, and DDD working on shiek. I am practicing for a spring break tourny. Winner gets 500 bucks.

Lol have you guys seen MK infinite cape? How can they get rid of this problem.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Infinite cape is banned, I thought...?

ROB will always be my main. Mario and Sonic are my secondaries. I also am proficient with nine other characters, but the three I mentioned by name are the ones I care about.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

No it has not been confirmed yet, I have only seen one reporting of it at a tournament, they dident ban it but I heard it wasnt pretty XD. People are also suggesting of fully banning MK, which to me is stupid.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

According to the advised tourney rules presented by the Smash Back Room, it is indeed banned.

And MK has been in the top8 of almost every single decent tourney at least twice, winning most of them. He's also has no soft or hard counters, or bad match-ups in general. And counter picking is also next to impossible. There are reasons, I don't mind him THAT much, but just saying something's "silly" without trying to find out why people want it to happen is also "silly".
