I have heard of it, but I live in the UK so it won't affect me. I saw on Fox News people have to wear face masks to get rid of it.

There are reports of it showing up in places like France. So, it seems to be coming north. I hope it doesn't make it's way up to Canada.

Also in the U.K. two people may have it after complaining of Flu like symptoms after returning from Mexico.

Unfortunately I heard on the news that 6 or so people in Canada have Swine Flu.

It has just been confirmed on U.K. news that we have a treatment for it. Not sure if it is a complete cure though...

Maybe we could all stop freaking out and continue our boring daily lives? Mexico city has, what, 8,836,045 inhabitants? 80 died? OMG IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD.

Sometimes I think humans are addicted to fear, using everything from terrorism to worms in pets' faecal matters just to cultivate and justify this fear. Sure, this is a rather big deal, and the people who know what has to be done should do something, but this doesn't mean we have to freak out and lock ourselves in our anti-alien bunkers...

If you're afraid of this, be afraid of walking around, anywhere, the chances of someone randomly shooting you in the face are way bigger than getting killed by swine flu...

the reason their freaking out:
this one is a lot like another one we had, the spanish flu, and for all of you paying attention, that one costed 16000000 (16 million) lives.
this one needs a different cure, so their freaking out because another 16000000(16 million) lives might be lost.

(and just to scare you)... or even more

Except that we're not the ones to come up with the cure, it doesn't seem highly contagious, and freaking out, especially with the current state of the economy, is the last thing we should be doing.

Also, the Spanish flu was almost a century ago...

There has been no deaths just calsuties, why can't we put a big dome other Mexico, huh? Problem solved.

recent news says that swine flu, killing approximately 70 people in mexico city could spread all over the world!!! (pandemic) texas, california, and kansas (I believe) have already had problems with this. I am worried about this "pandemic" swine flu... is any one else worried about it or am I just a worry wart?????

*Gulp

The flash game has come true.

Apparently it has spread to eastern Asia, Britain, Mexico and I think America.
Don't worry, I am sure it they will find a simple vaccine just like the smallpox.

Actually we don't even know if they have it, there are tests being done.

Also I have just found out that a whole class of pupils got ill but only six contracted swine flu.
Fortunately it is described as mild symptoms, about the same as normal flu.

Darm Marc, saying 'Oh we're ok in england it is in scotland' is a useless attitude. Scotland in right next to England, Matey.

You all have useless attitudes towards this. How is saying: 'Oh I'm safe so Its okay' fair or for that matter correct?

Scientissts are, as we type, developing a cure. Just hang itght a bit longer.

How do we have useless attitudes? There is very little chance we are going to die. It is the least of my worries, as Heavenly Spoon said you are overreacting. We get this all the time. Like with the Bird Flu it was in France. The distance between France and Britain, 22 miles. It was in our country and we didn't die. I am sure not much more people will die if we have to wait a little bit longer.

Well of course you live in a house!
Anyway, my great-grandfather died from the Spanish Flu in 1918.

well we should be worried if the news is broadcasting this. Also this flu is bad as you cant tell it appart immediatly from others making it unoticable until its to late.

So everyone be aware of whats happening locally, you dont wanna die now do you?

The media makes a big deal out of everything. People like fear, the media gives them something to be afraid of, simple as that.
Blindly trusting the news is also something you should consider not doing...

well I know that, I done a paper on why we should not trust the medias word :), but i am just saying that sometimes you can tell when they are being honest, this time they are as only awareness can be made through this, is that not a good thing?

Sigh... I have had a cold for the past couple of days. Better get my dad to get me to check-up with the doctor :/

Anyways, I am known to overly-react to anything.

But this is still kind of freaky :/

I have to agree with spoon abotu the media comment, Every type of media is biased in some way, nearly everything is exaggerated, and most of it is just 'news' rather than 'truth'.

^ It hasn't spread to England in Britain, just Scotland.

Wuh? Scotland?
I should really start watching the news. D:

But yeah, like Fridge already pointed out, your attitude to this is quite silly, ...if it is something we should worry about. :>
