Talkin' Baseball: The MLB Discussion Thread

John Axford is the reason the Brewers can't have nice things. 0/2 saves this year after giving up a 2-run-homer in the 11th vs the Diamondbacks. -.-

Cardinals teed off against Matt Cain today. It's looking like they'll finish 3-3 on the road trip against two good teams before coming home to host the Deads tomorrow.

Toronto takes on Detroit in Comerica Park tomorrow. Brandon Morrow takes on Anibal Sanchez at 1:05pm.

John Haxford: still marginally better than Carlos Marmol

Rangers vs Angels starts in 2 hours. Jered Weaver vs Yu Darvish will be an interesting duel. Yu Darvish comes from getting ruined a perfect game and is facing one of the best pitchers (probably the second after Verlander) in the AL. Hamilton has been buued both games in his return to the Rangers Ballpark. Angles don't seem to be doing as good as people expected and the Rangers are doing good starting the season. Yesterday's game, had a total of 7 home runs (4 for the Angels and 3 for the Rangers).

Note: Cards are destroying San Francisco winning 14-2 in AT&T.

Roy Halladay got touched up against the Mets today.

And I was wrong, Toronto plays their first game in their 3-game series against Detroit tomorrow, not today.

Im personally a phillies fan based on my area, but I pick the Giants to win again this year. Lincecum is going to have a better season, Cain is going to be fantastic, Posey is going to secure elite status this year, and Sandoval will hit 30+ homeruns. I dont pick the Angels to go too far. Pujols may not be as good, Hamilton will be a bit slower to start, but Trout will be good.

I pick a Jays- Giants World Series this year.

Toronto lost 7-3 today to the Tigers.

@SDB: You think E5 is due for a major decline this year?

E5? You mean Edwin Encarnacion? If so, I think he'll be in for a down year somewhat.

Yeah. Got him kind of cheap in an auction draft. Obviously not expecting another 40 homers, but maybe 30 with a decent average isn't out of the question? He sucks right now, though

Toronto was lucky he picked up the offensive slack when Lawrie and Bautista went down with injuries.

At least he's hitting cleanup, so lots of RBI opportunities in a lineup like that.

Jays looking like they're having a hard time meshing together right now, though.

But, because they're so slow in meshing, they may find themselves behind the 8-Ball when the games really matter the most.

Looks like there are gonna be a lot of rain delays and postponements today...

One of those may very well be the Toronto vs. Detroit game today, as it's currently delayed.

At least the rain held up long enough in St. Louis to where enough innings got played in the Deads/Cards game for it to count officially, where StL is putting a drubbing on Cincy, and it looks like the good guys will take two of three.

Correction: That game started a little while back. They're heading into the Bottom of the 2nd.

After an off day tomorrow, the Cards continue their home stand on Friday against the Brewers, with the probable starters Yovani Gallardo and Shelby Miller. The Red Birds will look to continue their dominance over the Brewers' ace in that game.

After their 3-game series against Detroit; Toronto takes Kansas City in Kauffman Stadium for a three-game series; April 12th through the 14th.
