RE: Team Hurricane- The storm is coming
Thanks for the warm welcome, Brawler! I am sure I will enjoy my stay here with Team Hurricane.
I have been testing out three decks currently: Gyarados, Machamp, and Nidoqueen.
Gyarados still seems to be a solid choice in the metagame, and while it does have its flaws, they are mostly situational. I have had much success with Gyarados. I haven't tested it with Expert Belt yet, but I am expecting it to be even better. An 150 HP beast that hits for 110 for no Energy is never something you'll want to deal with.
Machamp is also a very good choice, but it has a ridiculously hard Salamence matchup, mostly due to resistance and the fact that you can't do much for the same reason. Expert Belt makes Machamp even more of a beast, boosting the damage of Take Out and Hurricane Punch mainly, as well as HP. I also used a Regirock tech for late-game Rage usage, and it has done spectacularly.
A choice I am quite fond of is Nidoqueen. Nidoqueen takes the role as a swarmer and a tanker, which is quite interesting. Basically, you swarm Nidoqueens and when your opponent manages to knock one out you send the next one up. Expert belt + Nidoqueen = a beast combo, but you can;t recklessly attach to Nidoqueen. Poke-Healer+ is also a nice bonus to the mix, and I am even experimenting with Life Herb.
That is what I have been testing with. Now, for what I expect to be big:
Luxray AR. Seriously, with the LA Shinx, you're looking at 120 damage T2. That is great for this format, and I expect big things from this deck. Technically, you could even opt for a Spiritomb start in this deck and just slowly tank with Luxray.
GeChamp will also make a comeback. The newest additions to this are Gengar Lv.X and Spiritomb. Spiritomb will slowly set you up while the opponent struggles to set up, and then you can sweep with Poltergiest. Gengar Lv.X also makes it harder to get around Fainting Spell, and it counters many good metagame deck out there.
Luxray variants now have Expert Belt on their side, and they can conveniently Poke Turn before you KO them. Definitely we will see some of them being played.
I have more to say, but for now I must leave. I'll post more later. Hopefully I have posted enough for you to discuss about. xD
