Playthrough Team Rocket's Revenge - Complete!

RE: Team Rocket's Revenge! A Wonderlocke - Vote for Starter Nicknames!

Nicknames are great for playthroughs! But, Jessie has never nicknamed any of her Pokémon. So my vote is on no nicknames. Can't wait to see the first chapter!!

RE: Team Rocket's Revenge! A Wonderlocke - Vote for Starter Nicknames!

agree with dedenne,,, no nickname is good.

or you can nick name them with their japanesse name written in romanji.

RE: Team Rocket's Revenge! A Wonderlocke - Vote for Starter Nicknames!

Huh, that's a good point. I know nick-naming is par for the course for Nuzlockes, but, you're right; she doesn't nickname her Pokémon, and nicknames in general seem to be pretty uncommon in the anime universe. As much as it pains me (because I always nickname my Pokémon...), it would probably be more accurate for the character to not nickname.

See, good thing I have you guys around to set me straight. :p

RE: Team Rocket's Revenge! A Wonderlocke - Vote for Starter Nicknames!

The purpose of nicknaming in a Nuzlocke is to get emotionally attached and cry more when a Pokemon dies. We wouldn't like to see you cry :(.

RE: Team Rocket's Revenge! A Wonderlocke - Vote for Starter Nicknames!

Oh, I'll cry anyway, no worries. :p

Everyone look for the prologue to be posted later today! :D Maybe even the first chapter, depending on how much I get to play. Still need to transfer some items and such to my hubby's copy of Y, but stay tuned! <3

RE: Team Rocket's Revenge! A Wonderlocke - Vote for Starter Nicknames!

Just finished transferring my items this morning and restarted the game, so here comes the Prologue! It's not actually a full chapter because nothing happens yet, this is just flavour. If you're only interested in seeing which Pokémon I catch and how I do in battles and such, you can skip, otherwise, enjoy!

Prologue: Vaniville Town

*ti-tweet, ti-tweet!*

Mumbling groggily, I opened a single sleepy eye, looking out across the room. the sun streaming through told me morning had arrived, all too soon, and somehow a bird had gotten into my room. It sat on the edge of the bed, chirping pleasantly, but suddenly dived for me, pecking at my stomach and then climbing up to fly in circles above my head. Ouch, did that hurt! I threw a pillow at it grumpily, but it dodged and flew out the window with a final parting tweet. Wait... did it just say "praise me"? I must still be half asleep.

With a yawn, I got out of bed, enjoying the feel of running my toes through the luxurious pink rug beneath my bed. Team Rocket really spared no expense in setting up this cover house; everything was new and expensive, from the comfortable bed, to the large closets of clothing, to the TV and video game console. All of it was for cover, of course; I would never play a single game, since today I would be leaving this new house and heading out on a Pokémon journey.

Of course, whoever Giovanni got to play my "mother" would still be living here, of course, keeping up the cover of a Rhyhorn racer mother and her gorgeous, talented daughter who just moved to the Kalos region. Maybe she would get to play the games while I was gone.

As I got dressed for the day, I couldn't help staring at myself in the mirror. Of course, James and I frequently wore disguises before, but just like the house, no expense was spared in the making of my disguise, especially since it would be permanent for as long as I was on the mission. My hair was bleached and cut, and I'd taken top styling it in half in a sort of loose, thick ponytail at the base of my neck, with the other half loose in front, framing my face. With a red pleated skirt, long stocks, collared shirt, bright hat, and just a dab of natural-looking make-up, I looked about as young as is possible without getting plastic surgery. Of course, there was no chance I would be able to pass off being as young as most trainers when they start their journeys, but our cover story should provide adequate explanation; it's all I could hope for.

Dressed and ready to go, I decided to head downstairs and meet my "mother," who was supposed to have arrived overnight while I was sleeping. Downstairs, standing in the small kitchen of the main floor of our house was Cassidy, dressed in an embarrassment of an ensemble, with a black t-shirt, and a frumy pair of green sweatpants. I couldn't help but laugh at her ridiculous opinion, and when she heard me, she turned and stalked towards me down the hallway, anger glinting in her eyes.

"I don't know what you did or who you slept with to get this assignment," she hissed through clenched teeth, "but it should have been mine; you're only going to ruin things."

I smiled my sweetest smile and cocked my head charmingly. "Good morning, mother! Such beautiful weather we're having here in Kalos, isn't it?"

With a twitch and a glare, she turned on her heels and walked back into the kitchen. "Well, if you're expecting me to help you, I won't."

"Of course you will." I smirked and leaned against the wall. "We're supposed to be a loving mother and daughter, remember? There's no way you'd blow our cover over your petty rivalry."

"MY rivalry?"

"Besides, you've got the easy end of this stick. You can sit in this cushy house, eating chocolate snackoos and getting fat, while I'll be the one out there doing all the work."

Cassidy grumbled something unintelligible and went back to cleaning dishes.

Oh well, it's not like I need her now anyway. With a shrug, I turned and left to exit the house, eager to get started. I knew from my cover documents that this town, Vaniville Town, had been chosen specifically because there was already a batch of kids about to get their first Pokémon, including another kid who was already traveling from a different region. Posing as strangers and each playing out very separate roles, James and I were going to be slipping in with this group to get our starter Pokémon and Pokédexes while attracting the least amount of attention possible. After that, we'd be on our own, each going our own way.

When I stepped out of the door, it took all of my training for me to maintain a neutral expression and not let my jaw hit the floor. Standing in front of my house were the two people, one of whom was the last person I expected to see during my journey in Kalos.

To my right was James, dressed up in his own disguise, one that I hadn't known about. It was agreed that we should keep our plans from each other so that neither could accidentally blow the other's cover. He was dressed as a girl, which didn't come as a surprise to me, but what did surprise me was how deeply he went into character. His skin was tanned and his hair dyed dark brown, pulled into pigtails on either side of his head. He was dressed in a frilly pink top, short shorts, and was carrying a ridiculous matching purse and some awful pink sandals. He was so cheerful and chipper, he really seemed like a different person.

Standing next to James was a young man wearing a blue t-shirt, dark pants, and a red hat. Although he lacked the trademark Pokémon that he usually wore on his shoulder, I would recognize him anywhere. Ash Ketchum had come to my house to pick me up and begin my Pokémon journey.

RE: Team Rocket's Revenge! A Wonderlocke - Vote for Starter Nicknames!

Awesome story! I love how you mix the anime with the games. It was hilarious to read. Cassidy playing the role of Jessie's mother, and Shauna is just perfect for James! In the anime he always gets in his role extremely well when he's playing a girl. xD Looking forward to the next chapter!

*Hopes you get a Wobbuffet from Wonder Trade*

RE: Team Rocket's Revenge! A Wonderlocke - The run begins! Prologue posted!

Chapter 1, where things actually start happening. Not all chapters are g oing to be this detailed, probably, but I do want to set up the story, of course. :p

Chapter 1: A Pokémon Trainer is me!

"Welcome to Vaniville Town!" Ash said heartily, sticking his hand out for a handshake. "My name is Ash. Like you, I'm not actually from this town, but I came here to start my Pokémon journey in Kalos."

"And I'm Shauna!" James cried out with a huge grin. "We've come to get you to get your first Pokémon!"

"How, how wonderful!" I replied, putting on a smile and trying my best to seem excited and cheerful and to not sweat through my new clothes. What was this brat doing here? I hoped fervently that he wouldn't ruin our plans, but then, he never saw through our disguises before until we revealed ourselves, so maybe I still had a chance after all. "My name is Jessie, but you probably already know that if you're here to get me." I giggled and jumped a little in the air, starting to get into my role. "I'm so excited to get my first Pokémon!"

Ash smiled back at me. "We're all headed to the next town up, the others are already there, so let's go!"

"I'll race you!" James/Shauna yelled and suddenly broke away from the two of us, racing down the pathway and towards the town's entrance gates. With a snort, Ash walked along after him, and I followed behind, looking around the town that was my new "home". I was tempted to look around and explore, but even to myself I had to admit that I actually was excited to get a Pokémon in Kalos and start my journey, so I headed off behind Ash and James, leaving Vaniville to the north and heading down the short path to neighboring Aquacorde Town.

As soon as I entered, I saw James, Ash, and two other boys, all sitting around a table at a nearby café. One was a larger boy with dark hair and a t-shirt with a Vanillite on it, the other a ginger with bright clothes and hands that seemed permanently fixed around his camera. Ash called me over and I came to sit next to him. Ash introduced the large boy as Tierno and the ginger as Trevor. It wasn't long before they were all discussing what nickname to give me. I had to step in before things got to far.

"If you really want to give me a nickname, why don't we keep it simple and just call me something like... 'Jess'?" Thankfully, James quickly agreed and the matter was settled.

Soon after, Tierno brought out a chest with Pokéballs, and I couldn't help it, my heart sunk a little. Weren't new trainers supposed to get their Pokémon from a certified Professor? I'd read up on Professor Sycamore, the head professor for the Kalos region, and he looked so dreamy that I couldn't wait to meet him! And now I'm getting my starter Pokémon from this kid? Oh well, a Pokémon is a Pokémon, I guess. Maybe I'd get to meet Prof. Sycamore later.

One by one the Pokémon were released and introduced, and I couldn't help it, I immediately fell in love with the small fox Pokémon, Fennekin. It was so beautiful; it fit me exactly! I quickly snatched it up before anyone else could claim it. It squeaked playfully and jumped into my arms. It was so happy to see me! I couldn't help but laugh as I hugged it close to my chest. "We're going to make an excellent team, Fennekin!"

James chose Chespin, leaving Ash to take Froakie, and then all of us received Pokédexes. I marveled over the technology, never having owned one myself before. Being able to learn about a Pokémon just by seeing it would be a huge advantage. I made a mental plan to keep my Pokédex even after the journey was over; such a valuable tool would be useful to further the goals of Team Rocket.

Tierno had one final object for me, a letter to my "mom" from Prof. Sycamore. "I mean, I know you're not quite as young as the rest of us, but your parents should probably still be involved in the Pokémon training process."

"In my home region, people don't start training Pokémon until they're older, so I agree it must seem a bit odd," I said, sipping my tea, "but I'm sure my mother would love to be involved. She's such a sweetheart."

Soon after, Tierno and Trevor left off to go do their own thing. I returned Fennekin to her Pokéball and went to head back to Vaniville, but before I could leave town, James was running after me, his pigtails flopping in the wind. "Jess, wait! I want to have my first battle with you!"

We only had the two Pokémon, and I was starting off with a type advantage, so I quickly agreed, eager and ready for my first win. Fennekin and I took down Chespin in only a couple hits. James pouted and bemoaned his loss in an eerie falsetto, but healed my Pokémon after we were done, though it wasn't really needed. When he noticed we were alone, however, he dropped the act for just a moment. "Say hi to your mom for me," he added with a wink, then ran back to the café.

Battle complete, I headed back on my way to Vaniville, though I didn't really see like seeing Cassidy so soon, so I wandered around town for a bit, looking at the sights. After all, it is supposed to be my new home. Unfortunately, it was a small town and there wasn't much to explore, so it wasn't long before I trudged back home. Cassidy was sitting on the couch watching a soap opera and she glared at me when I came in the room. "What are you doing back so soon, did you fail already?"

"I have a note for you from Professor Sycamore, mother," I replied icily, thrusting the letter at her.

"Ooooh, what's this, a love letter?" she asked coyly, winking at me as she tore open the envelope. "What lovely handwriting, and," she stopped to take a sniff, "if this his cologne? Oh, Professor."

I pursed my lips and tapped a foot. "What does it really say?"

Cassidy sighed and crumpled it up, tossing it into the kitchen's wastebin. "Oh, just some crap about how I should let you go on a Pokémon journey, yada yada. Oh, and it came with a Town Map for you. You can dig it out of the trash."

With a final turn of the nose, Cassidy walked away and went back to her TV show, leaving me to rescue the crumpled town map. It showcased most of the towns and cities of Kalos, but was rather sparse in detailed information. The most important thing I gathered was that I would have to head north from Aquacorde to get anywhere else in this region, so that would be my next step. Without even bothering to say goodbye to Cassidy, I folfed the map up nicely and put it in my purse, then headed back on my way.

I thought I would stop an explore the rest of Aquacorde a bit before taking my final leave. I flirted with a clerk for a bit and managed to score a free potion, then spent a bit of my meager funds to buy some more potions and a few Pokéballs. I had argued that I wanted to start off with more money, but they felt it would be more realistic if I only had the equivalent of a teenager's pocket money. It'll make my trip harder, but I guess it is less suspicious than pulling out a wad of big bills.

As soon as I stepped out onto the Route, I felt a vibration coming from my purse. It must be the transmitter! Despite the fact that I got a starter Pokémon of my own, HQ must already be sending me another Pokémon to help with my journey. I quickly pulled the machine out of the bag and set it down in the tall grass, away from any potential prying eyes. Within moments, a Pokéball had materialized. Holding my breath, I released the Pokémon from the ball to see what I'd gotten.

It was a Riolu! It was a bit timid at first, but I introduced myself to it and when she growled happily at me, I returned her to her Pokéball. It was the start of a promising journey.

Chapter 1 end!

Current Team:
Fennekin - Lv. 6
Riolu - Lv. 1

Highlights/Notes/Thoughts:

If you didn't catch the subtle use of pronouns, both of my Pokémon are female, which is kind of cool. I usually don't get a female starter! The Riolu is also Japanese and therefore has the kana for "ri-o-lu" as her name, but I don't have kana support enabled on my keyboard and I'm too lazy to copy/paste, so I'll just use Riolu, and will use romanization for any other Japanese/Korean names/nicknames of Pokémon that I end up with.

The Riolu is a nice catch, but I'm kind of worried about it being level 1. I'm going to have to baby it along for a bit. At least it's right at the beginning, so the Pokémon I'm going to encounter won't be too strong and I should be adding some more members to my team before I get into any potentially dangerous battles.

I also thought I would post my team in spoilers so I don't ruin what happens in the story for people who are reading along. It's not such a big down now, but if/when one of my team members dies, or if I get a shiny legendary in WT or whatever, it might be nice for it to be a surprise. :p

RE: Team Rocket's Revenge! A Wonderlocke - The run begins! Chapter 1

Great chapter! "I flirted with a clerk for a bit and managed to score a free potion". That made me laugh, lol.

How awesome! Riolu and Fennekin! :D Great Pokémon to have on your team. If you put Riolu on the first slot of your party, then switch it out right away and let Fennekin do the damage, it should be able to get some levels quickly to be useful. You could also wait for XP share. :p That makes playing much easier for when you get more lower level Pokémon, too. :D

RE: Team Rocket's Revenge! A Wonderlocke - The run begins! Chapter 1

Athena said no to Exp-Share. :p

RE: Team Rocket's Revenge! A Wonderlocke - The run begins! Chapter 1

Yeah, like Teal said, no Exp. Share because it would make things way too easy. I already have it in my first slot so that I remember to swap it out and let Fennekin kill things so it can start leveling, so that should suffice for now, and hopefully it should get up to speed quickly.

RE: Team Rocket's Revenge! A Wonderlocke - The run begins! Chapter 1

Both are female? Takes me three times as long to hatch female starters. -_-
Anyway, so far so good! Keep it up!

RE: Team Rocket's Revenge! A Wonderlocke - The run begins! Chapter 1

Female Fennekin and Riolu? Talk about Athena's girliness affecting the system:D.
Take care of that Riolu. It kicks butt once it evolves, and I also like Riolu, so I'll be sad if it it dies.
Anyway, a good opening in a promising journey! Good luck!

RE: Team Rocket's Revenge! A Wonderlocke - The run begins! Chapter 1

"I don't know what you did or who you slept with to get this assignment,"
I wasn't expecting this. O.O

"He was dressed as a girl,"
Flashback to the S.S. Anne episode with James as a school girl! XD

"I would recognize him anywhere. Ash Ketchum"
Nooooooooooo! Kill him, kill him!

"I flirted with a clerk for a bit and managed to score a free potion"
LOL.

This was a great read!! Can't wait for more.
So we have Jessie, James and Cassidy...I think that by the time Jess reaches Sycamore's lab, it'll be Butch impersonating him, killing Jess' hope of flirting with him!
Oh, btw, will Jess change clothes or save it for trainer items?

RE: Team Rocket's Revenge! A Wonderlocke - The run begins! Chapter 1

Got to play a bit more yesterday and this afternoon, so here's Chapter 2!

Chapter 2: Santalune Forest

Now with two Pokémon at my side, I strolled confidently down the route, battling the wild Pokémon I came across. Riolu was young, but with Fennekin setting a fine example, it wasn't long before both Pokémon were working at taking down the wild Pokémon hidden in the grasses. While they fought, I used my Pokédex to learn about the various species of Pokémon that we encountered. Some I had seen before in other regions, but others were new to me, like Fletchling, the little bird that had woken me up my first morning.

Eventually I caught up to James and Ash, who were both standing in front of a patch of grass. James ran up to me excitedly, blabbing about how Ash was an accomplished (yeah, right, as if that brat could ever actually accomplish anything) trainer and how he was willing to teach us how to catch Pokémon. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes and acted as enthusiastically as I could, pretending eagerness as I jogged up to the grass to watch Ash's performance.

It seemed Ash had also been busy and had already captured a second Pokémon of his own, a Fletchling. He demonstrated weakening a Zigzagoon before catching it in a Pokéball. It took all my effort to keep a smug smile off my face. Congratulations, twerp, you've now caught a dumb rodent. There's no way it could compare to my Fennekin or Riolu.

Once Ash was done, he kindly gave James and I some free Pokéballs and headed off on his way, with James trailing behind. Alone again, I spent some more time with my Pokémon, watching them battle as we made our way to the forest up ahead. According to my map, it was called Santalune Forest, and on the other side would be another town. I decided that my goal would be to reach the town to sleep in a nice bed at the Pokémon Center over night, and it wasn't long before Fennekin, Riolu, and I made it to the forest's boundaries.

There, standing in front of the forest, was my first challenger, a derpy little kid with a Zigzagoon. Riolu and Fennekin quickly took care of him while I took my prize money. The kid walked away sadly to take his Pokémon to the Center back in Aquacorde, while I held my head high, winner of my first real battle, and entered the forest.

It took a while for my eyes to adjust to the lower light in the forest, but once I could see again, I spotted a familiar face waiting for me. "J- I mean, Shauna, what are you doing here?"

James smiled and skipped towards me. "I thought we could travel through the forest together! Ash went on ahead to the city."

"And so, as soon as you were alone, your very first plan was to blow our cover by hanging out with me?" I responded in a quiet hiss.

"There's no one here, it's just us. And if anyone does see us, well, it makes sense for Pokémon Trainers to stick together. The twerp always had his gang of twerps, and the fat guy and the red-head are sticking around, too," James pouted. "It would be weird if we were alone. Besides, I'd be happy to heal your Pokémon for you as often as you like!"

With a sigh, I gave in. I didn't really know if he was right about sticking together helping us blend in, but my Pokémon could use the healing, and the less money I spent on potions, the more money I'd have available for new clothes once I reached Lumiose City.

James walked behind me as I made my way through the forest. We didn't get far before I felt a familiar vibration in my bag. The transporter was already sending a new Pokémon! I quickly pulled it out and within moments, I held a white Premier Ball in my hands. With a flick of the wrist, I quickly released it to see my new Pokémon, and watched astounded as a humongous Onix burst forth from the Pokémon with a triumphant roar.

"Welcome to the team, Onix!" I called up to it before returning it to its Pokéball. It was young and untrained, but like Riolu, it quickly got stronger as my team began taking down other wild Pokémon throughout the forest. James left all the battling to me, but was already ready with a potion or an antidote on hand after a battle was over.

As we made our way slowly through to the other side, we occasionally came in contact with the other kids. I tried to avoid them without making it seem like I was doing so, but none of them paid much attention to me or James, focused instead on their own little world. Ash was the fastest of the group, pushing ahead quickly to get through the forest. Determined not to let him beat me, I grabbed James by the arm and hurried my way to catch up to him and get out of this forest. On the way, I was stopped by another trainer, but I beat him without taking a scratch and powered on through the forest.

After another half hour of trekking, James and I finally caught up to Ash. He gave me a Pokéball (seriously, does everyone just give out free things in this region? If so, I ought to move here for good when I retire) and then we moved passed him, deeper into the forest. I was challenged by another trainer and I accepted the battle smugly, but to my surprise, the Pokémon she sent out was... a Pikachu.

I could feel my heart rate speeding up at the site of the ugly, yellow monster. I knew in my head that it wasn't the same Pikachu that had defeated me so many times, that I was a trainer now and I could beat it just like I did all the others, but still my palms were sweating when I sent Onix into battle. Thankfully, the trainer was even dumber than most of the twerps I've now fought, not even attacking me once as Onix pummeled the Pikachu into the ground. I happily took my prize money and moved on, kicking the ass of a second trainer further down the path and continuing my slog through the forest.

After what felt like hours, James and I finally made it to the other side, though the other twerps weren't far behind, and we exited the forest together, like some kind of chummy band of friends. My skin crawled at the thought of being friends with any of these people, but role comes first. They all derped about for a few moments, talking about the goals, and Ash gave me something called "Adventure Rules," which I crumpled up and threw away as soon as he was out of sight.

James and the others stood around talking for some time, but I felt the transporter vibrating again, so I quickly moved to a private area to receive my newest Pokémon, a cute little Ralts! With a smile, I gripped onto her Pokéball tightly, taking on the trainers along the path to start giving her some battle experience. By now, Fennekin, Riolu, and Onix were beginning to make a good team, and they were happy to take Ralts into the fold. The trainers were dumb school kids and I took them out easily as I followed the meandering path into town.

Just as dusk was beginning to fall, I made my way into town. The Pokémon Center was near the entrance gates, so I managed to make it just in time for dinner. I healed my tired Pokémon, grabbed a cheap meal, and settled down in one of the bed provided for traveling trainers, already tired out from my long day.

Fennekin - Lv. 9
Riolu - Lv. 10
Onix - Lv. 9
Ralts - Lv. 7

Highlights/Notes/Thoughts:

The all-female team continues with my English Onix and Japanese Ralts. Both came in at Lv. 1. The Ralts in particular was a really sweet catch: Modest with Telepathy, and bred to have Destiny Bond, Shadow Sneak, Disable, and Encore. Not that I ever plan on using Destiny Bond. -_-; The Onix is Naughty, which is fine for my purposes, though a shame I won't be able to evolve her.

RE: Team Rocket's Revenge! A Wonderlocke - The run begins! Chapter 1

I have some questions.
Are you not doing trade evos?
Are you going to be doing any in-game trades (assuming you get the right pokemon from WT)?
