The road to Lumiose City and Kalos's Professor
A heal up and quick snack and then I was back on the road, ready for anything. My win against Viola really had me pumped, and I excitedly roller skated through the City with the skates I managed to snag from a trainer earlier. I was been more successful the past couple days than I've ever felt before in my life, and I was eager to move on.
At the gate, I was stopped by a woman who claimed to be a sister of the Gym leader. She seemed impressed with what I've accomplished for my age, so my disguise must be working well, and she also gave me some complicated machine. I didn't know what to do with it, so I just thanked her and shoved it in the bottom of my purse. Soon she was gone, and I continued on my way.
I'd barely left the city when I felt my transmitter begin to buzz. I ducked into the flowers next to the path and pulled it out, excited to see my new Pokémon, a Froakie who only seemed to respond to the name Keromatsu. Huh, weird. I'm not used to calling Pokémon by a different name, but I supposed I would get used to it with time. With Keromastu in my team, I finally had a full compliment of 6 Pokémon, and I felt like I could take on anything!
The route to the next town was lovely, filled with flowers and sculptured hedges. Fro- er, Keromatsu took to the team easily, and I took out the trainers and wild Pokémon that we came across on the path. The trainers were beginning to be older and tougher, but none were able to take me down. With each battle, my confidence grew. And soon, so would my Pokémon.
I had just taken down another dumb schoolkid when my Starly began to glow. Could it be... an evolution? Indeed, Starly had evolved into Staravia! Of course, I've had Pokémon evolve before, but bug Pokémon evolve rather quickly, and Ekans's evolution required a lot of time and effort. All the battling and care that I'd shown for my Pokémon these last few days... does this really help Pokémon to evolve so much?
In front of a gatehouse at the end of the path, I was stopped by a pair of weirdo trainers. They may have been strange, but they did give me some information on the new Fairy-type and a TM, both of which were useful, and offered to show me to Professor Sycamore's lab. I would get to meet him soon after all! I quickly allowed them to show me to the Lab and followed them into the gatehouse...
... and then out into the city of my dreams, Lumiose City! The shopping, the fashion, the restaurants, the shopping! I couldn't believe I was finally here. I must have looked like a silly tourist, gazing up at the tall buildings in front of me. But then the girl, Sino, was leading me off towards the lab and I followed behind her, marveling at the sites as I skated down the path towards the large lab building. Sino said the Professor couldn't wait to see me and I swooned. As the elevator rose towards the third floor, I quickly checked my make-up and exited out onto the third floor like a princess.
In front of me was the shockingly handsome complete with his dashing hair, cute whiskers, and... tail sewed onto the back of his lab coat? He led me into his office, thanked me for coming, and introduced himself... as Professor Dedenne.
"Oh, well, but," I stammered, trying to catch my voice, "I thought you were called Sycamore?"
"Oh, yes, Augustine Sycamore is my name, but I prefer to be called Dedenne," he explained, shaking his tail. "I just love that cute little Pokémon!"
My dreams, immediately dashed. The man I'd been yearning towards, and had a crush on for so long... was a furry obsessed with Dedenne. I resisted the urge to facepalm and put on a wide, smiling face. if I ignored the tail, at least he was still cute. He inspected my Pokédex and told me about how he decided to give me a Pokémon because he'd heard about my mother moving here. Good, that meant our cover story was circulating properly and I let out a sigh of relief.
Soon, Ash and James also arrived, and I was hit with my second surprise of the day. Professor Syc... Professor Dedenne wanted to have a Pokémon battle, with me? I hesitatingly agreed, and the battle was on. At first I was nervous fighting a Professor, but even in just a few days, battle instincts were already beginning to take over in my mind and soon all I was seeing were the Pokémon before me and the strategies flowing through my mind. I recognized all of his Pokémon as being popular starter Pokémon in Kanto, and couldn't help but be jealous of the Bulbasaur, a Pokémon I'd always wanted.
Regardless, I beat him soundly, and as a reward for my victory... he offered me one of the Pokémon! I was so surprised and happy, I eagerly reached for the Bulbasaur Pokéball. Finally, I would be able to have a Bulbasaur of my own! Because I already have 6 Pokémon in my party, I was forced to send one into storage, so I waved goodbye to Onix; she was a strong, defensive member of my team, but I just had to have the Bulbasaur.
Prof. Dedenne also gave me a strange item to go with my Bulbasaur, a Venusaurite. As the other twerp trainers joined us, he started talking about Mega Evolutions and I quickly flipped on the hidden recording device I had been provided with and listened intently. Apparently Dedenne himself knew very little about it, but he did admit that the stone I had been given was, indeed, one of the very Mega Stones that Giovanni had asked me to acquire! He also said that Camphrier Town might hold some additional clues, so I made a mental note to go there as soon as possible.
After that, he gave some speech about differences and toleration and friendship, but I kind of tuned him out, instead inspecting his fine body while making plans for for what kind of shopping I wanted to do next. Soon, we were free to go, and I ran off to quickly put my shopping plans into action!
