Well, here's my Fakemon family. I would say it's pretty cringe-worthy, but so are a lot of peoples, so I guess it's par for the course.
...Who are you comparing them to? 0_o

That's for me to know, and everyone else to realize and be too polite to point out.

That's scarily accurate. How can you get in my PM box?

Also, we don't be revealing the final scores until everyone has posted their submission.

RE: The Challenge: Season 4 - Challenge 9 is up!

I'd say Celever, but going from candy to plant is a bit o a stretch for me. :/
Honestly, I like Eron's submission the best so far (even if I did think it was an Ice type at first).

RE: The Challenge: Season 4 - Challenge 9 is up!

Besides my own... well, I love the design and concept of Eron's, but I like Celever's more overall.

RE: The Challenge: Season 4 - Challenge 9 is up!

I know that mine's either going to be hit or miss and may seem innovative to some while shoddy to others.

After the most recent fight between Kyogre and Groudon, Rayquaza's saving didn't quite go as planned. The Pokemon world reentered the Ice Age altering the environment and the pokemon and people that live in it. Pokemon and people "Evolved" into those that could withstand the new temperatures. Such Pokemon as Shiftry, Dragonite, and Zoroark are now extinct.

As you will notice, there is no Ice Evolution of Weedle. Weedle did not need an evolution to withstand the ice. And just to clarify the story of Icedrill. Kakuna continued to use harden in the ice causing it to evolve into Kakunice, which evolved into Icedrill. Icedrill has baby Weedles which evolve into Kakunice.

RE: The Challenge: Season 4 - Challenge 9 is up!

We've decided our winner, as well as the bottom three up for elimination. Like I said, I won't reveal anything until everyone has their submission posted.

Also, if you are up for elimination, you cannot cast a vote.

I'm starting to think my double vote is worthless, since I can't save myself with it.

RE: The Challenge: Season 4 - Challenge 9 is up!

As a reminder, the following people have double vote at the next elimination: Lord Fletchling, Keeper of Night, Machamp The Champion, RaichuGirl and Celever. rev3rsor is also immune.

If you are up for elimination though, your double weighted vote is void and removed.

Your TM list isn't the 6th gen list, so you were deducted for that. Your design isn't that exciting, especially as it's just an eskimo in a parka. We've seen several human like Pokemon with clothes before (Jynx, Gardevoir, Sawk and Throh come to mind).

Defense of the design:

Rock/Ghost? Really? What can be done with that?
Ugh...
I went with my first idea of a possessed rock. The shadow that the rock casts is the ghost attempting to escape it's "prison." However, it can leave at times, and this gives it an extra surge of power that causes headaches, dizziness, and even hallucinations to those nearby. However, as the rock is chosen for its unique power of keeping the ghost contained, it absorbs this energy. This is why the area around it is unaffected by it's hallucinations and why the ghost ultimately is sucked back in. The gemstones on the rock turn purple when the ghost is inside. The eyes on the front of the rock are what the ghost can use to look out when its shadow isn't showing.
When the ghost escapes, the gems release the purple energy, turning them black. The eyes also appear to close, but this is not the case. See the ghost's face?
As the ghost has no shelter, it's Defenses go way down. However, as it doesn't need to lug that heavy rock around anymore, its Speed and (Special) Attack go up.
The shadow itself isn't the pokémon. Or is it? What if the shadow itself is showing what it is you're really looking at? Maybe the rock is just part of the hallucination? Who knows?
(Yes, the upside down ghost is supposed to be the shadow. The less we can talk about the terrible artwork, the better. -_-)
...Wait.
No Guard + Hypnosis + Will-o-Wisp on a pokémon with only one weakness.
Hooray.
This was a top-tier entry. However, we were critical about the Mega Evolution being only +75 to the BST instead of the standard base 100.

This is a very sloppy entry. I cannot comprehend why a Grass/Electric type is in the Fairy/Mineral group. Your move progression is bizarre, especially with the Lv.8 Solarbeam. You've also given it Grass Pledge and Frenzy Plant, yet show no indication that this is a starter Pokemon. Your TM list is also not the 6th gen list.

Defense of the design:
Please forgive my bad drawing T-T.
This is another very good entry. You were mainly docked points for the design. The detail on the cheeks was a nice touch, but that type of detail could've been better used elsewhere.

Defense of the design:
Hephalute is an automaton, designed to pollute the world. As such, part of his name (lute) comes from the word pollute. In ancient Greek Mythology, Hephaestus created many automatons with different purposes. Materials included Bronze and iron. As such, the first part of his name (Hepha) comes from Hephaestus.
This is a pretty cool idea. It would've been nice to get a colored drawing so we could get a better idea of what it looks like. You're also missing the egg move parents.

Defense of the design:
My Fakemon's design originated from Professor Palutena's hint of "a real life object as a Pokemon", and even though a Potion isn't exactly a real life object I figured I had a fair few ideas for one. (In reality it ended up being a Hyper Potion because I thought the pink suited Fairy type better.) I didn't use professorlight's hint as much, as I found it difficult to incorporate a "dinosaur" or similar theme into a Pokemon with it still being Fairy type. Everything down to the moves was done by me, before I asked my friend for feedback. They were done based on what I would imagine a Potion to be, with a little exaggeration (did you know Voltorbs are half a metre tall and weigh 10 kilos?). The level-up moves were done mostly by me browsing Fairy, Poison and Normal type moves, with my friend offering suggestions afterwards. The TM moves were done, not too surprisingly, by looking through the TM list and selecting 'yes/no' for each. The egg moves were suggested by my friend, because I have very little knowledge of moves without browsing Serebii's entire Attackdex. The artwork is essentially a living Hyper Potion with the style that my artist (a different friend) decided to use.

With thanks to MutantDogPoo for helping with all the move/stat related stuff, and kyorukki for the large majority of the artwork. (I did the eye.) (neither of them are on pokebeach)
Thanks,
rev3rsor
The amount of work you credit other people for is alarming. What exactly did you do without help in this challenge? The design is lazy, as it's just a potion with eyes. Porygon isn't a possible parent due to being genderless.

Defense of the design:
This is either going to be brilliant in your eyes or terrible, and I'm willing to risk it.

Introducing:
Pokemon Ice Age

As you will notice, there is no Ice Evolution of Weedle. Weedle did not need an evolution to withstand the ice. And just to clarify the story of Icedrill. Kakuna continued to use harden in the ice causing it to evolve into Kakunice, which evolved into Icedrill. Icedrill has baby Weedles which evolve into Kakunice.
While the idea is unique, the design was incredibly lazy. With all the effort you put into making the two of these, you could've made one really good Pokemon. You needed to do more with your concept. Do Pokemon become fatter? Do they get more fur? How would Beedrill adapt to the cold beyond just being an Ice type? Kakunice is also 6 meters tall, or the size of a two story building. Egg moves are bad too. No parents for Icedrill, but no egg moves at all for Kakunice, and these two are supposedly related. Not to mention that Kyurem can't breed with it.

Defense of the design:
CREDITS:
A buddy from smogon, Acklow, did the art for this project. He helped select the thing that the Pokemon would be based off of on what he thought would be easiest to draw, as I had a list of ideas. Bulbapedia provided pictures for the footsteps and body styles.

SHORT PARAGRAPH:
The whole inspiration for doing a Pokemon based off of corn was really Acklow's idea. Kind of. I explained the project to him and gave him a link, and after a little while of reading out animals he said "this is a Grass Type.. have you got any plants?" So my favourite plant on the list was a cornmon. He loved the idea so this line was born!

It was a lot of fun seeing this creature "evolve" as time went by. I did do all of the information in a hurry at the end, but I kept having ideas as they spruced up. For example, I decided straight away that my first Pokemon, Cworn, would have Fire Spin as a "Start" move, and that my final Pokemon, Quetzacorntl (Check here for design inspirations we had for the last guy, now the name makes sense!), would learn Perish Song at level 100 due to being easily burnable grass which breathes fire...lol. I'm not sure what to put here so this suffices I guess? YAY!
Picking a concept off of the easiest thing is very lazy. Your moves are all over the place. Your names are not explained. But mostly its the route you chose to take with the design,[/quote]

The winner of Challenge 9 is...

TwistedTurtwig!. He will receive an advantage in the next immunity.

2nd place went to Keeper of Night. It was very close, and the BST total of the mega evo sealed the deal.

3rd place was RaichuGirl with an overall solid performance.

4th place was...
WanderingWolf

5th place was...
Machamp The Champion

6th place was...
Scorched Feathers

7th place was...
rev3rsor

and the following are up for elimination.

8th place...
Celever

9th place...
TheGuy (though to be honest, we pretty much flipped a coin)

10th place
Eron

You have until 4pm Wednesday MST to submit your vote. Remember, you are only voting for one of the bottom three. If you are in the bottom three, you do not vote.

RE: The Challenge: Season 4 - Challenge 9 is over!

MS calculator said the difference was 75, but I just checked it again and got a difference of 80.

Normal Poke has a BST of 490. The Mega evo has a BST of 570.

I will be adding Light's criticism to the entries in a bit when he sends them to me.

RE: The Challenge: Season 4 - Challenge 9 is over!

Oh hey, fourth. I would have scanned the picture and actually edited in colour, but my library is about 40 minutes away... yeah, its not worth the time.

So, are we allowed to know what the three prizes are?

RE: The Challenge: Season 4 - Challenge 9 is over!

I remember typing .6 meters, it must have gotten deleted somehow. :x
