RE: The Challenge: Season 4 - Challenge 9 is over!
Yeah, not much change. But it's that way on purpose.
It's just a weaker version of its evolved self. When it can escape during Megalution, that's where the change happens.
RE: The Challenge: Season 4 - Challenge 9 is over!
Nothing was deleted. We rearranged your info to make a more uniformed template for judging. If that's a problem then QQ more.
Unless something else was deleted in which case I don't know what it is.
I do have 0.6 inches for Kakunice's height but that really doesn't change anything with the score.
Light's comments are here in the same order as they are in my post (Machamp is listed first, Celever is listed last).

Your TM list isn't the 6th gen list, so you were deducted for that. Your design isn't that exciting, especially as it's just an eskimo in a parka. We've seen several human like Pokemon with clothes before (Jynx, Gardevoir, Sawk and Throh come to mind). The hole in the sleeves was a interesting addition, but we felt that it would express the point better if the sleeves completely covered puparka's hands, also, isn't pupa an insect's stage of development? why put it in a fighting/ice type?

Rock/Ghost? Really? What can be done with that?
Ugh...
I went with my first idea of a possessed rock. The shadow that the rock casts is the ghost attempting to escape it's "prison." However, it can leave at times, and this gives it an extra surge of power that causes headaches, dizziness, and even hallucinations to those nearby. However, as the rock is chosen for its unique power of keeping the ghost contained, it absorbs this energy. This is why the area around it is unaffected by it's hallucinations and why the ghost ultimately is sucked back in. The gemstones on the rock turn purple when the ghost is inside. The eyes on the front of the rock are what the ghost can use to look out when its shadow isn't showing.
When the ghost escapes, the gems release the purple energy, turning them black. The eyes also appear to close, but this is not the case. See the ghost's face?
As the ghost has no shelter, it's Defenses go way down. However, as it doesn't need to lug that heavy rock around anymore, its Speed and (Special) Attack go up.
The shadow itself isn't the pokémon. Or is it? What if the shadow itself is showing what it is you're really looking at? Maybe the rock is just part of the hallucination? Who knows?
(Yes, the upside down ghost is supposed to be the shadow. The less we can talk about the terrible artwork, the better. -_-)
...Wait.
No Guard + Hypnosis + Will-o-Wisp on a pokémon with only one weakness.
Hooray.
This was a top-tier entry. However, we were critical about the Mega Evolution being only +75 to the BST instead of the standard base 100. Also, we felt that the basic stage was superfluous, since it changes from a rock with eyes (also a problem; a dark hole with two mysterious, glowing eyes would have been better, we liked the crystals, though) to a bigger rock with eyes. Keeper was suggested to do a tombstone and he didn't do it. That took balls. Luckily for him, this was way better than aboring tombstone.

First of all, your design looks like a dog with a volcano on its back, which is really bland and unexciting. Claydol also can't breed with this Pokemon, as Claydol is genderless. This pokemon also has a strong mary sue vibe we were not comfortable with; the basic moves are too powerful for such low levels, and the BST is in pseudolegendary territory.
PokeDex entries: "Using its six legs, it darts through the water, feeding on decaying leaves to prepare enough energy for evolution."
"Nymphad can be found hiding under the layers of debris on lake bottoms, patiently awaiting the right time to evolve."

"Saplar recharge during day, and help people when blackouts appear. They can charge enough energy to light a city."
Satelle can absorb sunlight to generate electricity. They can send deadly shockwaves through everything that touches them, but only when angered. They lose their power at night.
Satelle light the forests at night and help people and Pokémon to find their way. It’s light is so brillant that you can’t stare at it much time.
This is a very sloppy entry. I cannot comprehend why a Grass/Electric type is in the Fairy/Mineral group. Your move progression is bizarre, especially with the Lv.8 Solarbeam. You've also given it Grass Pledge and Frenzy Plant, yet show no indication that this is a starter Pokemon. Your TM list is also not the 6th gen list. As far as we are concerned, this entry is a pure electric type, there is nothing here that suggests a grass typing, from the egg group to the aforementioned learnset, which one of us qualified as "Schizophrenic" (guess who).

PokeDex entries: Using static electricity this pokemon latches onto power lines. The poison spores it blows are known to be fatal.
In order to constantly blow poison spores this pokemon needs a continuous supply of electricity. Often Sporline becomes overloaded with power, forcing it to release a series of strong electrical attacks.
This is another very good entry. You were mainly docked points for the design. The detail on the cheeks was a nice touch, but that type of detail could've been better used elsewhere. The concept used is a little bizarre, but this was not an easy typing.
Defense of the design:
Hephalute is an automaton, designed to pollute the world. As such, part of his name (lute) comes from the word pollute. In ancient Greek Mythology, Hephaestus created many automatons with different purposes. Materials included Bronze and iron. As such, the first part of his name (Hepha) comes from Hephaestus.
This is a pretty cool idea. It would've been nice to get a colored drawing so we could get a better idea of what it looks like. You're also missing the egg move parents. A few of the moves in the learnset seem weird and at low levels (spark could be changed by thunderpunch at a higher level, for example), but there's not much more to say.
Defense of the design:
My Fakemon's design originated from Professor Palutena's hint of "a real life object as a Pokemon", and even though a Potion isn't exactly a real life object I figured I had a fair few ideas for one. (In reality it ended up being a Hyper Potion because I thought the pink suited Fairy type better.) I didn't use professorlight's hint as much, as I found it difficult to incorporate a "dinosaur" or similar theme into a Pokemon with it still being Fairy type. Everything down to the moves was done by me, before I asked my friend for feedback. They were done based on what I would imagine a Potion to be, with a little exaggeration (did you know Voltorbs are half a metre tall and weigh 10 kilos?). The level-up moves were done mostly by me browsing Fairy, Poison and Normal type moves, with my friend offering suggestions afterwards. The TM moves were done, not too surprisingly, by looking through the TM list and selecting 'yes/no' for each. The egg moves were suggested by my friend, because I have very little knowledge of moves without browsing Serebii's entire Attackdex. The artwork is essentially a living Hyper Potion with the style that my artist (a different friend) decided to use.
With thanks to MutantDogPoo for helping with all the move/stat related stuff, and kyorukki for the large majority of the artwork. (I did the eye.) (neither of them are on pokebeach)
Thanks,
rev3rsor
The amount of work you credit other people for is alarming. What exactly did you do without help in this challenge? The design is lazy, as it's just a potion with eyes. Porygon isn't a possible parent due to being genderless. The drawing is pretty and the movepool is good, it's a shame it was wasted on such a lazy concept.
Defense of the design:
This is either going to be brilliant in your eyes or terrible, and I'm willing to risk it.
After the most recent fight between Kyogre and Groudon, Rayquaza's saving didn't quite go as planned. The Pokemon world reentered the Ice Age altering the environment and the pokemon and people that live in it. Pokemon and people "Evolved" into those that could withstand the new temperatures. Such Pokemon as Shiftry, Dragonite, and Zoroark are now extinct.
Introducing:
Pokemon Ice Age
As you will notice, there is no Ice Evolution of Weedle. Weedle did not need an evolution to withstand the ice. And just to clarify the story of Icedrill. Kakuna continued to use harden in the ice causing it to evolve into Kakunice, which evolved into Icedrill. Icedrill has baby Weedles which evolve into Kakunice.
While the idea is unique, the design was incredibly lazy. With all the effort you put into making the two of these, you could've made one really good Pokemon. You needed to do more with your concept. Do Pokemon become fatter? Do they get more fur? How would Beedrill adapt to the cold beyond just being an Ice type? Kakunice is also 6 meters tall, or the size of a two story building. Egg moves are bad too. No parents for Icedrill, but no egg moves at all for Kakunice, and these two are supposedly related. Not to mention that Kyurem can't breed with it.

"Staleam shoots fire from the break in its leafs at the top of his body. It gets nervous easily."
"Sheltering itself in grass, Staleam often sets its home alight. It's grass is always charred, so it doesn't burn as quickly."
"Burvine disguises itself as a blade of grass and then sets fire to any Pokemon who near it. It is rather unpopular, due to it's mischievous behavior."
"It has a large appetite, charring it's prey with it's flame, but it is actually peaceful by nature and rarely harms another Pokemon naturally."
Defense of the design:
CREDITS:
A buddy from smogon, Acklow, did the art for this project. He helped select the thing that the Pokemon would be based off of on what he thought would be easiest to draw, as I had a list of ideas. Bulbapedia provided pictures for the footsteps and body styles.
SHORT PARAGRAPH:
The whole inspiration for doing a Pokemon based off of corn was really Acklow's idea. Kind of. I explained the project to him and gave him a link, and after a little while of reading out animals he said "this is a Grass Type.. have you got any plants?" So my favourite plant on the list was a cornmon. He loved the idea so this line was born!
It was a lot of fun seeing this creature "evolve" as time went by. I did do all of the information in a hurry at the end, but I kept having ideas as they spruced up. For example, I decided straight away that my first Pokemon, Cworn, would have Fire Spin as a "Start" move, and that my final Pokemon, Quetzacorntl (Check here for design inspirations we had for the last guy, now the name makes sense!), would learn Perish Song at level 100 due to being easily burnable grass which breathes fire...lol. I'm not sure what to put here so this suffices I guess? YAY!
Picking a concept off of the easiest thing is very lazy. Your moves are all over the place, the egg moves are different for each stage. Your names are not explained. But mostly its the route you chose to take with the design and your motives to choose that route,
Professorlight:
The previous paragraph was our joint critique. But now I feel I must get on top of my proverbial soapbox to say something palutena might agree or not. I warned you
This line reeks of smogon. They can afford to make a candy corn that evolves into maize and then into a snake named after an aztec flying snake supergod, beacuse to them, those things are fluff. decoration. Flavor. They can afford to do such lousy jumps of "logic" (maybe in freudian word association terms) becasue to them the important thing are the moves, the abilities, the BST.
Quetzalcorntl's BST is at the same level as the likes of megaabsol, megamanectric, volcarona, togekiss... barely below the legendary line. Its moves are nonsensical: you have a basic pokemon that has fire spin at level 1, and a candy corn that uses poison sting. And also sings! and calls forth ghost flames from the underworld! and sings a deadly song! and apparently, with proper training, can break walls like goddamn bruce lee, quash opponents with its massive body made of leaves and use FLASH CANNON. check the list of the pokemon that learn flash cannon. does any of the pokemon present in this line looks like it belongs there? and it uses hone claws, too! a snake. honing its claws. Grass pledge and fire pledge, too. Starter exclusive moves. Tutor moves. But who cares, they are combinable is the same pokemon, and with this BST and the IVs and the proper EVs it can become a special OU sweeper only walled by blissey beacuse it can 0KO both scizor and ferrothorn with stealth rock support! who cares about logic? consistency? common sense? there are cool things to try! And...
Oh f*** it, palutena already posted the results...
Well, I had a grand time, guys, it was an honor to judge you and if any of you want to get further input in your designs (which I had written but accidentally lost when my hand spasmed and close the window), you can PM me anytime.
RE: The Challenge: Season 4 - Challenge 9 is over!
Sorry for the mix-up, guys (and theguy), I work with computers all day and my hands are really tired, especially after passing all your entries to an easier-to-read, more organized format, so it took me a lot of time to add my critics to palutena's. Especially if you count my little smogon rant...
All in all, it was a pleasure, so good luck with the rest of the challenge. I'll still be around, but not as a judge anymore. You can all breathe now.
And keeper, I want that rock without the preevoultion (call it spectore) and with the eyes changed for a dark hole with a couple of small, glowing eyes inside for review in the gen7 project as soon as possible. That baby is going in, you lucky, ballsy bastard.
And TT, I'd add your mayfly too, but I'm already designing a fairy/bug regional bug myself. You are more than welcome to join the preject if you want, though. All of you.
I'm almost positive it is. I only used TMs in Bulbapedia's "Generation VI" spoiler tag, and from Bulbapedia's list of TMs every Pokemon has. If you can show me a move that's not in the Gen 6 TM list, I'll believe you. If your reasoning is they're not in the same order as the list of TMs, then fine. Considering I got 5th, I have no regrets on not ordering them.

Yeah, that probably would've been a better idea, and that's what I originally had. But I thought that it would be easier for it to fight if its fist weren't covered by a thick coat, and there would've barely been any Pokemon to see besides just the coat.

I can comprehend Mineral, but fairy? There are some Grass in the Fairy group, and also, if you look at both Pokémon they are Satelites and well, they are not natural. That's why I added them to Mineral. If you look at Fairy they are supposed to be "cute" Pokémon, you can't tell me that Saplar isn't as DERP as Espurr.

RE: The Challenge: Season 4 - Challenge 9 is over!
OH! That explains it.
They are all TMs that all Pokemon can learn. But Mimic, Bide and Rage are TMs from Gen1. Curse and Snore are TMs from Gen2. Vacuum-Cut and Wide Slash are from the Myster Dungeon games.

That's the point, the grass types in the fairy egg group are in both the grass and fairy egg groups.
Your pokemon is a satellite. Not a plant. Not natural. It does make sense for it to be in mineral, and because of that (as I said in my addition) to us, you made a pure electric type line with some grass type moves wrongfully assigned.

In some cases, the moves are so you don't have to wait to a high level before your pokemon can get a certain move, in others, so the evolutions have a better movepool than the previous stages, and in all cases they are to be accessed with the move reminder.
